This is great, we can now buy C1 again.
In fact I have myself a copy of C1 on a dvd somewhere,
so i can run it whenever i want, and look at the loggin screen for an endless amount of time.
Now seriously, isnt this commercial statment over the line?
Im sure its great to get c1,c2,c3,c4 (hell even you could even include prelude) when it doesnt make one tiny bit of difference.
prelude is included, it's the base game. you can't play the game wihtout installing all the content from all the chronicles. it's marketing, you know that thing everyone's been saying we need so we can get new players. so uh yeah...
Wel upset would be a strong word.
Worried that your are going to misslead players would be a better term.
You might even call this an indirect lie, taking a look at this statment:
"For the first time, the original game and all five available expansions are available in one box."
...actually, come to think about it its not even indirect..
Say i didnt know the first thing about l2, you would have me belive that each chronicle worked like an individual expansion available for individual purchase, which is not the case.
I thought this was pretty obvious RustNC, and i think you see it too even though you probably wont write it.
molte, it's marketing it's supposed to give the consumers the idea that they are getting more for their money. What would you rather have them do? Ship out boxes with Prelude base game only and have the new players sit there for a couple of days downloading all the updates? I think it was with C2 that they release a similar box and at that point it was the first time, the original game and both expansions were available in one box. Or was it only the DVDs with C1 and C2 in them? I forget either way if it gets people to try it out and join my clan's academy so we can get rep points then I'm all for it. :)

It's marketting speak designed to explain what content the player is getting to a new customer who knows nothing about the title or what's involved.
There's no "lie" as they are actually recieving all of that content on one disc.

To address this bit directly, if you know nothing about L2, you may not understand that 5 major content updates have occured since the launch of the product, and that they are all included in only this retail product. The language of "expansion" is due to the fact that the uninitiated likely don't know what a "Chronicle" is.
What i would rather have them do, hmmm..
perhaps just have the one and only version of the original game that works in the dvd (aka c5) the same version that is available to download from fileplanet.
You only need the C5 client on that dvd to play the game.
Hey Rust, Is the other game clients on that dvd? Or is C5 the only client on the disk?
Just the most up to date C5 version at the time of printing. So wait, you were under the impression that we were including separate full installers for each Chronicle?
Would that have been something you would have wanted?

Yes that is the impression some players are getting...
Would that have been something you would have wanted?
Nooooo, That would have made huge issues. We only want the current chronicle client

That there is misleading, my brother just decided to start playing ( after i had to fight him away from WoW ), he downloaded the 2.8 gig file from Fileplanet and had another 8 hour download after that.
2.8 gig is a tad small for a game of this size dont you think......
Would that have been something you would have wanted?
Hell yes, i would of loved something like this and i would of bought the pack just to have the orginal versions here which i never was able to purchase seeing no shop in Australia supplies or carries these versions since C1.
If it wasnt for digital purchase i would of never seen this game unless i had it shipped from the states, which ive never had to ship a game from anywhere, ever.
RustNC, im just curious, but is there a reason that Lineage 2 is so hard to find here in Australia? Not sure if you would know the answer to this, but just asking, been curious about it for quite awhile now, since C1 to be exact.
I thought about that, but knowing people i have a feeling the trouble it would cause would far out weight the benefits.
I think a player or NC created tool to patch the old replys would be the best route.
Highlighted the part that is against the EULA....Rust would you have people banned if they were to make something like this?...a small program that changes texture names and such to make the changes that happened from C4 to C5 in these replays?
I hate NC softs marketing team...for more check out my post for master guide book links...a dwarf girl action figure..and as i find more....more.....soon im making a store...and i'll post when stuff gets in...on the effects ive been playing for 3 years and i got a chance to make a cardboard cut out...when i could of had so much more......

original statement
Yah theres no reason to buy it. Its a junk present. It doesnt market the game. It doesnt make me want to play. Matter of for even making it A "HEY Look WHAT WERE DOING FOR YOU" makes me throw up in my mouth a little.
But theres hope
Ditch the project and do this
it'll read "FINALLY WE REALLY LIKE YOU!!!!"
it'll include this:
Throw in a huge wall map and NCsoft is doing what they should be doing, caring for there customers.
Oh yah i lost the page but i saw a c5 hard back strat guide too.......the other ones are c4
thats a marketing package.
Not that crap they are pulling with this dvd set b/s, and that stupid cut out dolly...which is neat...but still there not doing there job like they should be.
As for that other game...do this and tell the WoW marketing team
"shove this in your pipe and smoke it"
cause this package would blow em out of the water.
Rust, with the wording like it is. If a new customer who knows nothing about Lineage 2 looks at it, they will think they are getting 5 seperate games. Single player games often come with golden editions that include all their expansions. To me thats what The ad you have there for Lineage 2 looks like. But in fact, the Chronicles are not Expansions, they are more like patches. So it's like an updated version of the game. Game expansions came from the idea that it's the same textures, models, controls and feel, but it can have a completely different storyline and levels with a couple new features here and there. While patches are where you improve on an old game.
I understand it's marketing, but its just fancy talk, theres not really any benefit of buying that version of Lineage 2 than a Prelude version except maybe a free poster and a quicker update to live servers.

Not really Vent, many other MMO's do this also.
Basically what they are saying is your getting all expasions as we see it now, which is C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5.
Now lets say for example they did have seperate CD's, would you expect the C1 version to be the same as it was 2 years ago? Obviously it cant be, because of the amount of changes it has under gone.
Im ordering the Epic Edition simply because i havent been able to buy any chronicle what so ever here in Australia and hopefully ill see this title in my local EBgames store.
