Lineage II Remix Contest

Chronicle 5: Oath of Blood™ features a fantastic new soundtrack composed by Inon Zur. To celebrate the release of the new Chronicle and the recent launch of Lineage Radio, we are happy to bring you the Lineage® II Remix Contest! Put your own spin on a selection from Chronicle 5 and you might win fantastic prizes. Your remix might also be played on the air of Lineage Radio for all Lineage® II players to enjoy!

Submission Guidelines

All remix entries must be made up of one of these three Chronicle 5 musical tracks, available for download here (ftp://ftp.lineage2.com/l2_remix_songs.zip). Your final masterpiece should be no longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds in length and submitted in MP3 format only. You can create sounds or transitions for your piece but they must be your own original work or you must own the rights to them – please do not use anyone else’s material.

Ready to start remixing but don’t know where to begin? Those of you who have OSX on the Mac may find GarageBand to be helpful. The rest of you looking for a program to use may want to review some shareware audio editing tools (http://www.snapfiles.com/shareware/gmm/swaudioedit.html) for assistance.

All submissions will be judged on quality, musical arrangement, and flow.

PLEASE NOTE: Lineage® II musical tracks (that NCsoft® owns) are available for your use. However, you may NOT use any materials that you (or NCsoft®) do not own the rights to and utilize them for the purposes of this contest. Likewise, taking a track from something that you (or NCsoft®) do not own and altering it slightly then presenting it as your own work is strictly prohibited. You (or NCsoft®) must have ownership rights to every element included in the remix entry you submit. You must make sure your entry doesn’t infringe on any patent, copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right, or any privacy, publicity or publishing rights of any third party, or is libelous, obscene or otherwise contrary to law.

Ok I just downloaded these at work to see what Im in for. The tracks are already in mp3 format. :( That doesnt make them very versatile at all. Im still going to give it a shot but I dont see much originality in the remixes..good luck to everyone none the less. Hope I can work around this inconvenience.

wow im decent at remixing but 5 days is a little short period.... anyway we can get this extended to the 10th?

gonna be hard to sample from it yea, but gonna give it a try :) am memorizing the songs as we speak ^^

This is a great idea and all, but...


While an iPod Nano is cool to have, I think I'd rather have a couple A Grade weps with SA's and a couple A Grade armor sets. That's just me tho...

Europe has it's own servers and can now enter competitions! What's next....... :)

imo, i listened to the music supplied.... and i wasn't to happy with with the style or overall sound of the music. I can't find anything in them that i really care for and giving a few friends the music and asked them if they could throw anything at it and they ended up giving up after a few days of trialing a few things.

I can however pull out a few melodies from previous l2 music that would be quite nice to mix with... but were limited to those 3 unfortuneatly..

a well, i and a few others gave it a try... but alas..... the person that can make someone good of it deserves a reward lol. The sound, it's about the sound, and i can't find it anywhere in the 3 songs.

eh work with what ya got. I wasnt to excited with what we had to work with. Especially in mp3 format. But gave it a shot anyway. Not sure if its winning material. We will see! :)

mp3 format can easily be changed into a solid wave file...

i thoroughly enjoy using Magix Music Maker 11, which allows me to automatically sync the bpm up. But it's just not a sound i can't work from...

I can convert to wave and back to mp3 no problem. Magix is a real nice intro program to making/mixing music. The problem I encountered was in a typical remix kit all intruments and vocals are broken into individual waves where you can remove or modify parts alot easier. They really gave us a challenge on this one! :cool:

Well magix allows me to take the mp3 format and directly input it... find the beat to match.. .and then allows me to split the whole soundtrack into looped tracts automatically as well, which i was kinda serprised worked so well.

i was messing with the 3rd song though, the one with no lyrics ( i hate lyrics if they don't seem to mesh well with the song and i must say i was turned off emediately by the first 2 songs)

I like to try and keep the orginal song the best i can, but only way to make it sound good is to take cheffs meat cleever to the thing and go nutz.

Thats version 11 you say? I have been considering getting it because its not to expensive as compared to reason or something like that. Didnt know it was capable of doing all that. Maybe ill break down and buy it sometime. Good luck on the Remix!

Hey, got to magix website and try the demo out first, it'll allow you to do most of all the stuff. You just can't save your work or export it. (well export it in any normal fashion, you can get around this by using say a recording program to record all audio playback by setting the recording device to Stereo output or "what you hear" and hitting record and then hitting play on the magix program )

Only a few days are left to send in your remixed tune, so send us your entry soon! Submissions close on Tuesday, October 24.

I also made a remix but its against the remix contest rules/conditions. i used some samples that are not mine, so i wont submit this remix as my 100% work. never the less i want to make my remix public to let people know whats possible. by publishing this remix i dont break any copyrights, its just not for commercial use or any other kind of use id make profit on, e.g. winning this contest ^^ (not that i would, but there is a possibility)

i finished the remix and i'm 5 seconds overtime :'(

it was 4 minutes and was able to bring it down to 3:35 :'(

I'm sure some people will make theirs publically available after the contest winners are announced, but I'd like to see NC make them all available.

I cant make mine available. Had a hdd crash after making it. Lol I dont even own my remix anymore. So hoping we can get them later. I would like to hear everyones and maybe hear my own one more time. ;)
