Striders

Which is the best strider and why?

Winter
Probably Star cause it can do some damage. Speedwise (Taxi) they are all the same.
Depends on what you want. The twilight/dusk one is the easiest to level and runs the fastest. It can't do any damage and has the **** for hp. It's the most popular one as striders - damage/hp or not - aren't used much (if any) for killing or tanking.
From my understanding when they become striders and you mount them

Twilight only add run speed, got one myself
Wind add P.atk/M.atk
Star add HP.

Wind and star also add the run speed ofcorse.

saying that they add dmg is a litle miss leading..
Whent you mount the strider you dont get your P.atk + the striders; only the striders.
same with M.atk ...
Atleast this is my understadning anyone that can confirm?

That was back in C3. In C4 it was changed to Wind=Patk/Pdef with Stun and UD, Star=Matk with single target and aoe nuke.
I'm talking about them mounted, not the strider itself. And I talk about the stats added towards you.

I don't think this is completely correct.

I believe you're talking about what happens to your stats as you're mounted. I only have a twilight but I'm guessing the stat moving is identical for all of them. When you mount your strider you retain your original (pre-mounted) Pdef and HP. Your Patck becomes a number that I've yet to understand. It's a bit higher than if it was equiped with the highest quality hatchling weapon, but no weapons are equiped while mounted. The Speed statistic is obviously increased while mounted but the amount of increase is dependant on whether you are a fighter class or a mage class. Whether or not other stats are slightly altered while mounted is pointless... unless you're a nobless attacking castle doors, there's no reason to even attack while mounted. Just make a macro to /dismount and equip weapons, then /attack.
I have corrections to make to my last post. I took screen shots of my Prophet and my Strider of Dusk buffed, unbuffed, mounted, and unmounted.

When you mount a Dusk Strider, the following stats change:

Patck - equal to the Patck of the unmounted strider (no weapon), plus the Patck of you (no weapon), plus a small number (for me it was 3 patack unbuffed and 5 with full buffs)

Matck - equal to the Matck of the unmounted strider (no weapon), plus the Matck of you (no weapon), plus a small number (for me it was 12 patack unbuffed and 14 with full buffs [no empower])

Speed - equal to the Speed of the unmounted strider, minus your unmounted speed, divided in half, then added to your original unmounted speed. This worked out exactly for both unbuffed and buffed.
So the equation is: MountedSpeed = ((StSpeed - PlSpeed) / 2 ) + PlSpeed

Attack Speed - I couldn't determine the equation but your Attack Speed definatly goes up when you mount your strider. Unbuffed mine went up by 52 and buffed it went up by 75.

If you want to try and figure the Attack Speed equation yourself...
Unbuffed Strider 278 Prophet 315
Buffed Strider 399 Prophet 452
