I just got Lineage II from gamestop and the guy told me it wasnt very popular here in USA. So im waiting on download and wanted to know is there any servers reccomended for me? Maybe one that is newer or still has some lower level chars? :D ty for comments
The newest server is a European one actually. All the servers are going to be a bit sparse for new people. However there are a lot of new bonuses for people just starting the game. Free weapons, buffs, etc for new characters. Also with the new clan academies there should be plenty of clans willing to take you on and show you around. If you end up on Erica you can pm me or any of the people in my clan. Clan name is Invalascere.
Welcome to L2. NCS is dead set against marketing the game in the US (despite cryptic bs intended to suggest otherwise), so most gamers don't know what they're missing.

Welcome to the game and the board community. let us know what server you decide on.

I've noticed that store clerks and online gaming sites often go out of their way to say that, and then they start pushing WoW. It's like Lineage 2 is taboo 'round these parts. :/
or maybe WoW pays them to say that?
It really doesn't matter which server you choose. The game is 2.5 years old and most of the servers opened at the same time, so the majority of the player base is high level. However, it's not all bad news. First, they've made the low levels extremely easy compared to what they used to be. You get all kinds of bonuses as a new player, free buffs, weapon and armor upgrades, etc. The first 40 levels should not take much time at all. You will catch up before you know it. Second, there seem to be new players joining the game pretty regularly, so you might hook up with some of them. The lower level areas may seem deserted at first, but once you get to Dion and then Giran, you'll start to see more people.

As far as picking a server, there's really no one person that can tell you about all the servers. Some things you might consider are population and ping. The servers that often say heavy have more players than those that regularly say light. I'd actually go with the heavy server if it were me, because the light servers can sometimes feel a bit empty. Also, choosing a server that has a lower ping for you may mean you'll have fewer problems with lag and disconnects.

Teon and Franz are Euro servers, they run events and sieges based on Euro prime time. The other servers are really better suited for most people living in the US. Franz is the newest server, it just opened a few weeks ago, however, don't expect everyone to be low level. Many new Franz players did some... er, illegal stuff... to get to a high level pretty fast. Players do that on all the servers, but I'm just pointing out that even though Franz is new, there will still be lots of high level players.

Last thing you could do would be to look at the server forums here. I know on Lionna at least, we seem to have several "Hi, I'm new" threads a week. You could look around to get a feel for the community on each server.

Good luck!
And dont forget to visit the boards from the server you choose to play on. It might help to get into a clan. They made it so that it is interesting to enroll a lowbie into a powerfull clan. And they can help you with a pretty good armour to level from 20 to 40 fast.
Hindemith is quite fun :)
Good players, good wars, good raids, and even some nice people on occasion ^^
There are plenty of people who play the game. But as others have said, they are all higher lvl. You will find more 20+ players in Dion area. Gludio should also have a few. many of these are alts but there are new players.

Also, with the new clan academy you might get scooped up by a higher lvl clan so don't worry.

The game is far from dead (heck, they just added a new server [euro]) but their advertising is abysmal. There will be a new game box hitting stores soon for the holidays so that should also bring in new blood.

so the majority of the player base is high level.

Ummm, speak for yourself.... :)
It's true, the majority is. That says nothign about the individual members but states that a large census of players will agree with his statement.
Well, I suppose it's all relative.

The majority of the player base is probably 50's to 60's.

But compared to a lvl 1 that is quite a bit.
didnt know L2 was 2,5 years Oo

Not if you only play 15 minutes a day....

what the heck?!?

what u do the rest of the day?

dont tell me... u sit in jail right? :p

LOL Splatter. You gotta play more than 30 minutes a week. :)

Lionna is a nice server. I came there by recommendation and this is first game I have ever played. Right off the bat I met a group of nice folks, and I'm still with them over a year later. Lots of different types here. Hard Core, bullies, friendlies, roleplayers... nice mix. Usually the politics of the server doesn't affect you till you get a little higher in level... but now with academy members needed to establish clan rep points, maybe that's not so true anymore.

Don't know why there's no advertising for this game, but it sure is fun. You can learn alot about yourself here.

Not if you only play 15 minutes a day....

It takes me 9 minutes to get to my hunting stop.
You will see more now lv's now then ever befor, why? Becose playing alts up to 40 is the fastest, or if not the only truly doable way to level up the clans abow lv 5.

And right now thers a ton of peoples working on that, most of the server in fact.
