I have not seen any dwarf in light armor yet,but lots of poles,i wonder if u use pole u aint a tank anyway...more like an Aoe nuker, because pole skills do more dmg. so why not sue light armor. I am asking it as i can not afford to buy both to test myself. What dose the majority think, experienced players. How is the evade rate vs shield block rate.
Being you have a polearm... I think it only stands to reason to go heavy armor. You don't get any skills to help your evasion, and i fell any evasion you get will not out weigh the lesser damage you take from heavy armor.
Dwarves have the 'evasion' of a 12 inch mason block.
They don't get shield special skills so they get the same sort of random shield blocks everyone gets.
They have high hit points. High Strength (comparatively--they are 3rd). They can carry a LOT of weight.
They are NOT nimble (lmao). They will get hit--whether they use a pole, a blunt, or a flamethrower.
Put 'em in heavy. Mithril Heavy is a cheap alternative to Brig without too much less pdef. Brig only completes with a helmet that is as much as 5 million adena (or more) depending upon server meaning that most who wear it without the helmet don't get the additive effects anyway.
Put the dwarf in Heavy. The reason you don't see them in light armor (if they are lvling/hunting) is because it's not a particularly prudent idea.
i spent some time in plated leather 40-50 poling on my ws, was ok ish, unless i got stunned, then it hurt:-)
In the end i used fp set, less damage, but if u are solo aoeing it makes more sence.
In a group where u wont get hit go light all the way.
it would be hard to solo without no healer, but look more unique at franz. Looking forward to clan hunts raids and etc. Getting really tired of all the dorfs in brigadine and bronze set :()
Get in a clan. Oath Armor set is wicked easy to get when you are in the acedemy, and its actually pretty **** good. Almsot same as brig set, gives HP bonus and extra pdef. It takes your "sponsor" 922 D Crystals in cost, thats it
Well I can explain, done it befor many times as well.
First off hte P.def between light armor and heavy armor is 16%, this translate into that you need to evade 2 hits every 10 hit MORE then befor.
9 Evasion that light armor adds is not enought, it only add about 5-10% evasion rate, you need 13-14 evasion befor it actually kicks in.
nice logic!!
but i should add the set bonii for B and A grade armor means wearing light armor may cause you to deal enough damage to negate the lack of pdef, this is especially true if you have vr where any extra damage will just add to your hp
Well pre-40 i used hvy armor to pole. After 40 Ive used +3 theca armor. I havent had any problems poling. Maybe its placebo but i dont take as much damage as others in hvy. We had an orc and me. I poled then i was getting sleepy and he poled. Maybe he was doing something wrong, however he was pulling less mobs and killing more of the se mp than me.
And getting light armor at that grade is alot cheaper and easier than FP.
HVy = solo lght= poling. When soloing you just dont feel the benefits. ...
I use a pole on my dwarf in plated leather. No problem. I'm not sure I'd recommend any other light set, but plated leather does have its advantages. I also have +4 dex and +4 str (-10 con) tats as well. If you have VR, you're fine, UNLESS you get a bad pull. Bring rez scrolls. :) Hunt greens and blues. Yellows or harder are likely death without a healer. My plated leather set is overenchanted, that helps a bit, but it is expensive. And I do kill very, very fast. That's the only problem. Not enough mobs.
Personally, I would suggest light for solo only if you can't afford heavy. And only with +5 DEX, to improve your killing rate since pole misses a lot. Try killing a single mob with pole, and see how many times it misses. So, until you get the polearm accuracy skill (lvl58) your dex needs all the boost it can get in order to increase the killing rate and evasion and thus balance the less Pdef of light.
PS. My scavenger wears salamander (it was a gift), but when I can, I will switch to heavy.
