hey :) The elf knight skill improves p.atk for blunt and sword type weapons, is that right?
Why are people running around with duals? are they not considered two handed? or does the mastery skill work on duals too? Or even two handed swords?
I am quite confused! Help would be appreciated. :D
The elven knight's weapon masteries work with:
-1H swords and blunts
-2H swords and blunts
Dual swords do not use the elven's knights masteries.
Dual swords use special masteries not available before level 40 to fighter classes. This doesn't mean you can't use them, it just means your patk won't be as high on equal-patk-rated duals as it is on equal-patk-rated 2H swords like the claymore.
A lot of 20-40 people use dual swords because they like the look.... the difference between using weapon you have masteries in isn't quite as noticeable pre-40, so many people just use what they think looks cool.
In my experience:
If you are playing an elven knight... stick with 1H sword + shield until at least level 40. From personal experience, the claymore looks cool, but has no real advantage vs the elven long sword + shield. Shield masteries for the elven knight make the shield worth more in less downtime than the miniscule amount of damage the claymore offers IMHO.
Duals are simply not better than the claymore in any way, and don't use your masteries either.
If you have a set of D duals and don't want to buy a 1h sword + shield or just like what the duals look like, you will be fine using them through level 40.
At level 40ish, masteries start adding up a little better and frankly, there is no intelligent reason to use a pair of C duals over a berzerker blade or SLS+shield unless you own a significantly overenchanted set of C duals.
If I were going Sws, I'd likely go with the berzerker blade...
If I were going TK, I'd likely go with SLS + shield.
Frankly, the only classes that have in-game reasons to be using duals (especially past level 40) are BDs, Glads, and the occasional mystic class.
