Best or average level of a perma red

I currently have a lvl 42, almost 43 SR, in a +5 drake set with a +6 emi bow. I'm thinking about making him perma red and playing the game chaotic. I know the best level to go perma red is the highest level. But what level is "acceptable" for a perma red.
Depends what you wanna do with your perma-red.
Of course i'd like to Pk, but i would play it as a main, more rp style, leveling in more abandonded areas.

You won't be able to get new skills while red.
haha, good point. Unless the npc server went down and i snuck into town. Though if you think about it isn't it possible to get into gludin while red, by jumping in?

Or is it that the npcs won't talk to you red.

Bingo.
Equip some gear that you wont mind losing. Believe me you will get dropped at some point. :)
hmm worrom i dont mind if you go perma red but you will pay a HUGH price when you are
also acapt your toon will never be usefull again
for eatch kill you do you loss 8% xp's also if you get killed when you still red after first kill and you cant defend your self when someone target you for killing other it just add a other karma on you
Im not sure I follow. Sure the toon will be useful again. Its just hard to go back to white. I killed all my karma and lost 10 levels doing so. Well 9 of them are gained back now. So 1 level away from where I was. Also lose 8% per pk? Thats never happened to me. Unless you mean when he decides to wash? But if he wants to go perma red that wont ever be a problem!

But op think hard about it. Rough life being red. ;)
Wash? Do all npcs not talk to you when your chaotic? Warehouse in floran etc?
You can use WH and shops in Floran and what I meant by wash is dying repeatedly to turn white again. If you plan to ever be white again. It hurts. :)
The only NPCs that will interact with reds are the dawn/dusk priests, other 7 signs related NPCs, castle/clan hall NPCs and the NPCs in floran.
I've never understood the mentality of most perma reds (other than those just used to hassle bots....real bots...not the he looked like a bot even though he was using shots & answering pms etc kind).

What fun can there possibly be in spending your time on a char doing something which gains you nothing but interfers with another player (who you probably have nothing against) levelling their char?

Most perma reds pick on those far lower in level than themselves or on classes with little or no defense to their red class. There is no challenge to it, no exp gains, no gear gains....its just....sad.
Get to lvl 52 first. If you are serious about being perma red (which means you are not going to EVER be white again) Wear c grade armor and use c grade wep. They are alot cheaper and easier to come by, also people will not think you are very high level that way too. Hang out near Dion and just have a blast. But if you are a real RP'er playing chaotic, no trash talking please. You will have more fun being a cool pk'er :D

BTW, get a +4 dex tat too, you will outrun most of your prey that is stronger than you. It is a ton of more fun running than using BSOE, I had a guy chase me for almost 20 min one night it was a blast.

its just....sad.

While I totally agree with you, I don't begrudge them the opportunity to drop gear for me.
The NPC's in Floran will talk to you, but you cant learn any new skills. So pretty much all you have acess to is your warehouse. If you go perma under 50 just expect to pk noobs, but be wary some noobs have higher level toons.

We had someone on Hinde who was a hero go perma red before leaving the server. That is if he has really left. The funny thing is he to hung around in the noob areas killing people. Being a hero and going perma red seems like a waste to me, but to each his/her own.

Nos is very correct going perma can be a hard road. Even if your perma on bots. People see a red and will hunt you down hoping to get a drop. Get a couple sets of ng gear as you will drop stuff. Plus if you ever want to use that character again it will take a while to wash. I went red with Nos and while I only amassed 14 pks right in a row I lost 4 levels when I washed. Four levels at 4% loss each death means a lot of time to wash.

It is a commitment to make and never earns you a good reputation.

Oh come on now. Its not sad that there are pk'rs. Im not going to tell anyone how to play there game. But having pk'rs out there is one of the many elements of our awesome game.I started out being only a bot killer. But having to defend myself quickly changed that. If someone got to close they had a good chance of dying. Was pretty exciting really running around looking around every corner before you make your next move. I quite enjoyed it. Just couldnt afford to do it anymore.
I don't think it's sad that there are PKers. I've done it myself. However, I don't understand the mentality of someone that lives to grief lower level players.

I've been PKed dozens of times and don't really care that much about it. Hell, I don't even remember the name of one player that's PKed me. I even got PKed before I reached the town on TI; less than an hour into the game for me. It just doesn't bother me that much (which probably annoys the PKer).

I would never do it and I don't glamorize it. Some people think they're doing the game a "favor" or spicing it up for people. I just see people who are most likely pathetic in real life or had one too many wedgies.
Ah ok. So the ones that kill a level 5 and then call them a noob. Yeah they suck. I was at least polite when I killed someone. Throw 50k adena at them for there troubles and go on my way. If they pm'd me and were mad at me I would even apologize to them lol. Never trash talked anyone while I was doing it. Well except that one guy. But thats another story. ;)

Umm, they're dead. How'd they pick it up? :p
well I meant /trade. lol
why wash taking 4% deaths when there are plenty of EE/Bish around. my EE has 75% rez and washs karma for plenty of ppl :)

That's something that needs to be fixed.
Eh. I took responsibility for killing people. Might as well take what I deserve. Plus I wont be worrying about sp for quite some time.
I'd honestly prefer if, if you got a %age res while red, you just got the karma back. >.>;

I've been saying that for as long as I can remember. And yes, I washed myself with a brez...

Oh come on, Reds make this game Fun. Serious. I've had some awesome encounters with Red Permas.

Hell, the last Red saved me from going Red and whiping out my whole Raid Party. rofl.
I just wanted to add a little spice to my game, be an outcast always on the run, though i wanted to be able to advance my character while red, oh well. Maybe when i get lvl 52
I went insane on bots the other night on my lvl 40 SH alt cause they were in my spot and kept coming back. Dozens of them, 130pks later i was at +99999 karma...just ended up deleting it.
Oh yes, what am I thinking....of course being dropped by someone 20-60 levels higher than you for no more reason than because they can and losing exp, buffs and having your hunting interrupted is fun for everyone lol
It really is. You didnt expect to not be pk'd right? Anyway all this talk about being red I think im going to level up an alt just for that purpose. Sounds fun to me.
I'm too nice to people to be a perma red. I love PvPing, but I have honor, and I don't just kill people. >.< I can totally understand why others would though.
Best way to have 'fun' pk experience is join an alliance which is constantly at war with anybody and then go out finding enemies.

Benefits:
- NPC's talk to you.
- No worries of dropping gear
- Lose only 1% instead of 4%
- Killing other people then just noobs

Downers:
- The enemy fights back and hunt you as well
- Killing noobs seems to be highly pleasurable
- Wars end no and then. Choose your clan wisely!

Join Redemption on Hindemith, they are at war with a good portion of the server ^^
Nah I didn't expect not to be pk'd and I take my knocks as well as the next person when they come. My point was that the mentality of doing something just to spoil someone elses fun and gain nothing yourself eludes me. There is no skill to smacking a newbie to the ground and no exp or item gains from pk either. To me its like kicking old women under a bus or turning over babies prams.....pointless, other than to be mean to someone else you know probably can't defend themselves lol

Those who like pvp can find plenty of fun with wars and seiges or the arenas...those who like to just smack chars who won't smack em back to test out their 'skill' can find plenty of bots around, its the bullies (hmm perhaps those who are bullied in real life themselves lol) who seem to be our perma reds that I don't understand. Then again I'm a sweet gentle English girl who wouldn't say boo to a goose....maybe hehe

its like kicking old women under a bus

LOL! Im so stopping by the bus stop on the way home now.
*giggles* Just leave my name out of it

I've always compared it to killing dark blue mobs. Well, except for all the ensuing trash talk. Yeah, that's fun...
Sometimes I punch dark blue mobs to death. It makes me feel invincible! :p
Not sure if it was a glitch or what, but when the gate was still open in Gludin, I used to be able to get new skills from the priests for my perma red mage (Bot killer). Am trying to level him up, go white, and finish my first class change, maybe second before going red again. A lvl 18 red, just isn't scary :P. And I noticed I used almost all my MP just to kill a single bot. BTW going the way of the human mage, what would the best class, am almost thinking necro, to use fairly low level armour/weapons and still be able to take out the bots.
Here's my critique for the post:
60-66 is ok to go perma red.
for now thats an even hilt of the levels of most players.

getting into your 70's you shouldnt go perma red, rather begin working towards your third class change or deciding on your subclass, so you shouldnt wait until your 70's.
My improvement for your suggestion is this:
Don't make being perma red your goal. Yes people go red cause suddenly they go through a state of BOT rage killing sprees, and end up having to delete there charecters.

Player One: what happend to your main?
Player two: she got the rage....we had to put her down....

Sometimes in game you'll have to kill smart players, and its hard to kill the ones that aren't gonna flag on you, in that case your chars gonna go red.
That can happen at any level, and your gonna want the skills for it, which you can't get going perma red as stated in previouse posts.

But if you must, mid 60's should be fine, just enough to get you in trouble and have you drop your 150million adena helmets,
and just enough to kill experienced players, or be killed by them depending which alliance you upset.
I think if you put the time and hard work, into getting into the mid 60's, expecially if you earned your own gear. You would have more respect for a toon. The funny thing is about perma reds is that they cant go farther then dion without a bunch of people trying to spoil some free gear off a jerkinstein. A lone red running around aden, would set people off like kids at christmas.
I just thought it would be interesting to play a different style, no go out and kill everyone, imo... It sucks that you can't progress in skills as a red.
I am with Kiraliaa (and some of others). There is honorable combat, then there's just going around killing people who aren't even lookinf for a fight and might be 20 or more levels below. What's the point in that?

What's the point in that?

It's better than cutting themselves, I guess...
Well there are times when you just get bored. I had a level 25 healer i got tired of. I griefed noobs like nobody's business. And too boot I had a Archer friend when he'd die id res him :) and we continue on our path of distruction. Its nothing about being "demented" or no life. It just wanting to do something different in game.
