Tatoos for Overlord

Player Questions Started Last reply 14 posts
Been playing for awhile and i need help on the subject -
what tatoos should i make for OL?
Clearly +4 CON/-4 STR seems like a good choise once i stop soloing with duals and start acting more as a party buffer/healer, but what about other 2?
If you are thinking about your future role as a clan/alliance buffer, then CON should not be a top priority, since you will not need to take a lot of damage constantly (as in solo). You may consider +3DEX/-3STR to improve your accuracy and maybe a +3WIT/-3MEN to improve your casting speed. In a party, your role as an OL is to support (buff-debuffs) and assist by doing some damage with melee weapons (duals is a fine choice).
I went a different way:

-4 str/ +4 Dex
-4 str/ +4 Con
And the standard
-4 men / + 4 Wit

That being said, now that I am getting alot higher, I am considering re-doing them and keeping the +Dex but taking it from Con instead. I havent' decided about the + Str since I will in effect be adding +8 back to Str once I change my setup.

I am quite happy with everything except solo. My physical hits are a tad low at this point, around 150 to 200 average so it makes killing stuff slow and with the drain being so badly nerfed in C5, I am still learning my MP management again.
2 Questions -
1) Can OL take +-INT Tatoos?
2) Best SA for him? - Health? Acumen? Mana Up? Conversion?

Also i would like to tell that i mostly want to know the setup for PvP, and therefore hear comments from high level OL-s, who participated in Sieges, Mass PvP and such... no need for PvE setups.
If you go healer/buffer then I think acumen-light/heavy or mana up/casting speed robes is a good choice.
Consider convention wearpon as your's secondary one. It gives lots more mana which you spend on buffs, then switch to your's main wearpon (acumen, mana up or what ever else) and still have mana for other stuff.

For mass pvp and sieges u d better go +4wit -4int +4dex+4con-8str the best setup imo. Dc Robes all the way or you maybe consider majestic robes for the stun resistance. Som with acumen would be a good choice or an elysian with health if u want to stun also. I prefer som though. An ol will basicly spam cp heals and hop so thats basicly your role. Dont worry about the robe p.def since with soul guard youpll have over 1500 p.def.
And an OL cant take +int tats
Why is +Dex so important? Movespeed only? It doesn't seem too good if your only role is spaming hop/cp.
For armor i think Maj Robe is the best choise because of extra MP/MP regen and stun resistance.
C5 introduced some magic blunts with Acumen SA so i think they will be a better choice anyways than SoM.

Also there is some inconvinience in your post - first you recommend +4 wit/-4 int, then you tell OL can't take +int stats. I always thought that if you cant increase a stat with tatoo, you cant decrease it also. Am i wrong?

If you cant decrease it, you cant increase it.

+4 WIT -4 MEN is probably what the poster meant.
INT can't be changed by orc mages (reserved only for pure mage classes). Everybody recommends +DEX for a reason. DEX affects many stats (accuracy, critical attack rate, attack speed, running speed) and as an orc mage you have the lower from all classes (the same applies to WIT). Of course in a siege you will not need that stat since you mostly use buffs and seals, but in order to gain your levels for a siege you need to grind. And that requires increase in DEX, specially when you solo. Always have in mind that orc mage class is one of the most expensive in the game (if not the most expensive). They need many different setups. You need minimum 2 set of armors (robes-heavy) for grinding solo (buff with robes, grind with heavy) and 2 weapons. One for solo/party grinding (duals/two handed) and another one with accumen or mana up (or conversion) SA for PvP/sieges (actually the first is better for PvP and the second for sieges). To make things worst (financially), you need both ss and sps to grind. So you must set priorities and plan your equipment well.
I, for one can't agree more with the above poster. I wouldn't go with duals, but rather a dagger w/ focus, but that is a personal choice. I may have to try a pair of duals on and see if my assumptions have been wrong. After all, I do have a shield buff, why not use it.
The 3rd weapon that I never even considered was the conversion one. That one I am going to have to look into. Especially since it is just for buffing, I won't need to carry around different types of shots. Ya.

I had the maj. armor. While the regen is nice. I found the groups I was in wanted me to be the sleeper, group healer and odd buffer. I went DC Robes and now I am very, very fast with my cast. Only downside is the mana regen, but sleep is a very low cost spell considering how effective it is.

My next goal is for an A grade Dagger, then I am going to work on my Heavy set. When I was in B grade, the Focus dagger made a lot of difference in my solo kill speed over my SoM but again, I group more being an OL and I have an active alliance / clan who want to party with me. Makes a big difference in play style.

Oupsss yeap +4wit -4 men :)D
And i also suggest the +dex for the extra shield defense rate.
A focus dagger along with the shield is great for pve. I dont know about the 1 handed blunts with acumen A grade added in C5. If there is one with same m. attack as som then its definetely the best choice. I dont think heavy is neccesary in pve unless u solo.
I used a blunt in B grade. It is slow, slow slow in PvE. Now it had the health so I didn't see an aumen benefit but for solo, the dagger is the way to go.

This again is where people get different things. When I tried to use stun, it rarely landed. At some point, I just felt it was too low to be of any use so i quit worring about it and started to carry one of the crono items. It works just as well as anything and no SS anyways.
