Alright, I'm annoyed. One of the EE's three offensive buffs is now a pain to use, since you have to be in party. Why? Holy weapon does not nerf the toon its applied to after all like zerk does. Its not really useful in PvP. Certainly its status isn't much different from kiss of eva or decrease weight, casting haste on a nuker or acumen on a fighter. So why'd it get its special status that makes it a pain in the butt?
There are mobs that are holy resistant. One popular way to get rid of unmentionable "players" was to cast holy weapon in the area of mobs that have holy resistance.

:( That sucks if that was the true reasoning behind it (and it makes good sense it was just that)
now i just cast the opposite resistance on them like when they fighting mobs that hit with water i give them fire resist 3 and watch them drop quick lol

Kind of funny lol
I dont get this, are you saying that fire resist lowers your defence against water?
The thing is this: The website description of these buffs do not mention the fact that it acts as a debuff to the opposite element.
off topic/ Did anyone make a definitive statement as to what constitutes an Earth type spell/attack? I say this because I have Surrender to Earth debuff and it states that it also increases resistance to Wind Attacks. It would help to know when to use this debuff.
You use Aqua Swirl.
You hit for 446 damage.
You use Flame Strike.
Your attack has failed.
You hit for 96 damage.
You use Resist Aqua.
You use Aqua Swirl.
You hit for 379 damage.
You use Flame Strike.
You hit for 192 damage.
Half damage failure for 96*2 = 192, no difference in damage at all.
You can use resist holy buff in pvp if you know your enemy has holy weapon buff. It will reduce the damage (melee damage). Developers restriced holy weapon usage to your group only to remove the possibility for such "exploit" in pvp situations.
As for resistances - it's not mentioned anywhere and I don't think resiatances dolower defense of opposite element. All resistances are stackable in C5 and you can have 5 elements resistances at once (water, fire, wind, holy, unholy).
Weaknesses have this effect though. That is, Fire weakness will increase defense against water attacks, for example. It was mentioned in C5 patch notes.

Good to know, then it really is only the DEbuffs like the patch notes say. Then the translation of the Korean patch notes I got my info from was wrong, sorry 'bout that (I usually do not check the official patch notes that much when basically everything is said and done after months of discussion about Korean PTS/live server notes).
Why are ppl annoyed when they cant get OOP buffs -.-, party the EE, party the Proph, and you will get HW/zerk whatever, thats the purpose of support classes, not to be stupid OOP buffpets.

It wouldn't make much sense anyways, I know you can't have elemental resist buffs on simultaneously, but you can have resist holy and resist unholy at the same time.

Not true anymore. You can have elemental resist buffs simultaneously now.

Nya, if you'd come and party with my level 40 BH, I'd stop using my 2boxed prophet.
Silver if ppl wouldnt 2box so much and ncsoft would show some love to support classes, much more ppl would be willing to play them and you would find lowlvl proph to party with you.

Who, incidentally, wouldn't have Haste2.
But I'm usually up to partying with a baby healer.. I remember being one, and soloing from ~40-48.. Until I got a second box to level the healer with.
I wouldn't have a prophet as a box if I had been able to find prophets to party with more from lvl 50-60ish.
I had heard it also had something to do with raid bosses. You cast holy weapon on a raid boss with a paladin tanking, with holy armor or whatever they get.. and take almost no damage.

When I buff strangers in, say, EG or DV, I want to give them HW. Having to ask myself or strangers into party just to buff HW is annoying.
The only reason buffers get boxed so much is because of the stupid buff stacking that makes buffs so important to have.

Pure hearsay, btw.
Holy armor protects from dark attacks. With holy weapon buffed you do not do more or less damage to me.
The reason for this is simple. You are hunting. I walk up. My prophet gives you holy weapon, you have no choice to take it or not, I just buff you out of party. I then buff all the mobs in your hunting area with resist holy. I return to you with one mob to train you, it aggros, and you can't kill either.

AND elemental resist...which stacks.
Then add magic barrier/song of warding and maybe dance of aqua guard or whatever element you are facing, and laugh about the ridiculous damage the nuker does.
Magic Barrier +30% mdef
Song of Warding +30% mdef
Resist Fire 30% fire resist
Elemental Protection 30% fire resist
Song of Flame Guard 30% fire resist
Jesus, and people still complain about nukers. It's the archers which are overpowered still!
Buff slots are too tight for physical classes to list these buffs so loosely and say "it's that simple". There are only so many worthless buffs you can discard before starting to remove essentials.
The "new" tactic from enemies during sieges, while in safe zones (or with untagged buffers) is to buff all kinds of worthless crap, pushing good buffs off your enemies. Too bad there isn't a global block buff command for people outside of party.

Resist buffs do not reduce your resistance to anything. However, surrenders do.
You have to realize that buffing a raid boss with holy weapon then buffing the raid tank with resist holy reduces the raid boss's damage output by a considerable amount. That, and the Prophet would have a field day in the Olymiad. Other than that, there aren't that many reasons to nerf it. Training can be easily done without the use of the HW/RH combo.

So true, to buff against mages you need to carry almost 11 buffs...and they will still hit for 300-400 damage a shot. You also require a BD and SWS along with a 76 prophet. It is not exactly simple yet. Everything that makes an archer powerful can't be buffed at the same time as the magic defenses. We need 30 buff slots to do that.
And we have been buffing increase weight on archers for chronicles and chronicles...
sure, I've been in several wars let me think of the time I have had trouble with a summoner..hmmm ohhh hmmmrmmm ok 0, no use.
umm... a necro/ps summon does a lot more dps then drowning in the water. Holy Weapon > KoE for pvp. They both suck and are pretty useless in pvp, but saying kiss of eva has a purpose for pvp and HW doesn't is just stupid. Don't respond. You are wrong.
lmao, ok let me know of any situation that a PS has done anything in pvp. I dont care what their dps is when they never do jack and nukers take out the summoners first and if I am not mistaken holy weapon does not apply to nukes which just further validate my point.
Sure, I won't respond because you told me to *rolls yes* what a joke.
KoE in a water pvp area is very useful when it happens. Nobody attacks summons or summoners because their DPS sucks. Necro is not a true summoner and any necro worth his salt keeps his summon behind him for TP only.
i was informed by a GM after peptitioning that some glitch had occured and that kiss of eva wasn't actually on me at the time.
However it was kinda serprising as it had happened earlier 2 other times.
Anyways
Nukers are fed roughly 8 buffs TOPS initially, and usually are maxed out after 10 buffs, that's all they really need and take.
while malee's could easily take advantage of roughly 25 buffs.
THIS IS BEFORE dances and song by a SWS that push buffs off easily.
IMO, the mechanics of the game should actually have been designed with nukers only getting 20 buffs and malee's holding 30. That's one solution.
As for the holy weapon/zerk and other such things, they should have been allowed, as ncsoft could have claimed them as a useful buff and a offensive or strategic debuff.
It's not very common to watch someone throw holy or zerk or kiss of eva in a pvp, actually i've NEVER seen this done in pvp or in pve EVERY the whole time i've played and i haven't heard anyone else complain about it so imo, it was never a problem here. But perhaps in korea is was a huge complaint.

dont respond.
no you shouldn't respond because you are an idiot.
"Nukers take out there summon first, and holy weapon doesn't work on nukes." guess what... neither does focus/might/dw/guidance/grmight/haste/fire/fury/warrior/hunter/PoWind/PoF by your logic those are all worthless buffs because they don't effect nukers? Wow... I guess you are right... they have no pvp use at all...

Not sure who you pvp with but we almost always target a summon with our nukers almost right away.

It depends on the situation, if summon stays behind or attacks.
I'm not saying HW is a good pvp buff. I'm simply saying that it has just as much use as KoE, but both have very little use and both only in extrmely unique situations.
Gank groups at cata entrances have been goin for awhile.
I know that, I've seen many. I just didn't think fighting in the water was happened enough to argue about. Live and learn.
It's fun standing just inside, waiting on friends when two huge parties show up and start fighting each other; people running up to you and then running off. Strangly enough, I've never been touched (from fear perhaps :p).
holy weapon to kill undead summons. It has a pvp use.
Undead Summons are not weak to sacred.
Furthermore, if you are buffed with Holy Weapon and you attack someone with Holy Resistance, your physical attacks will do less damage.
necro summon is weak to holy weapon. If there is an archer, 1v1 against a necro, and the necro gets killed and all that's left is the summon... the archer will be better off with holy weapon then he will be without it.
I NEVER said that holy weapon was a need to have buff in pvp. However it does have as much use in pvp as KoE. That use is extremely unlikely and unique situations.
Furthermore, if you are buffed with Holy Weapon and you attack someone with Holy Resistance, your physical attacks will do less damage.
And this is the reason you can't buff it OOP anymore. Simple enough. In conjunction with resist holy, it would have been a 20 minute no resist 30% PAtk debuff. That's pretty rough.
Also - what are nukers targeting servitors for? Shouldn't they be going after high priority targets, like other nukers and archers?
And I still know absolutely no one who bothers attacking a summon in pvp. Root, fear, sleep are 100% knock outs most of the time.
A pure summoning class (i.e. not a necro) can remove root, para, slow, and wind shackle from their summons -- as well, their summons have a high resistance to fear. Waking scrolls or taking damage, of course, breaks sleep for summons too.

Who said anything about not putting the same on the summoner?
It doesn't matter if the summoner is rooted, if the summon isn't - at least not to some degree.
As for getting paralysed, the summoner is probably THE highest MDef and MResist class in the game, so it's really quite unrealistic to point this out as a reason why they're weak - because if a debuff hits the summoner, it would have hit anyone else, also.

Like all debuffs already do...Even the few tallum robe no tat mages I know don't resist for crap vs blessed+empower in most cases. Even silence lands moderately well with the mental aegis nerf. There's still no reason to bother with a summon/summoner running around as if the summon runs across a siege ground to be a threat...its just gonna get erased. In small parties, well, if the best dd you have to target is a summoner, I don't think it's possible to lose the fight anyways.
Then we agree for a change? Nothing should be targeting a servitor, unless it intends to lose the fight, or the servitor is attached to a necro (in which case going servitor-> necro is probably a whole bunch faster than going necro from the start).

Cause people would simply buff themselves with resist holy attacks, and buff their enemies with holy weapon. Not like you can buff to change sometimes attack to a dark attack, so thats why they did it. Prevent buff griefing pretty much.
