i mean seriously.. why cant the l2 dev team think like this...
CoV/CoH is giving special items depending on how long an account has be activated.... the older you account is.. better collecters item you get... its vetran appreciation event or something.... sounds like a good idea.... but that might be to much to ask for :P
Actually the UO Treasures of Tokuno II goes with that award. It started right before the medal event ended and holy hell it was fun stuff compared to even the medal event or heck even the pumpkin event.
Again, what makes this better? I'm honestly curious.
Gives something to strive for when staying on with the game for a long tme, heck it gets people to hold their accounts active and makes the company more money.
But of course, this isn't an event really, its just a rehash of UO's veteran rewards, which they've had for many years.
I'm not impressed by the events of other games. Sure I don't play them for hours on end like Lineage, but some of the crap some other games call events makes me giggle. Seriously....the pumpkins event here was by far the best. Nothin better than spending all afternoon whacking out some frustrations on some pumpkins with an attitude.
i think some appreciation for the old timers is a good idea. atleast it would make me forget about the boats for a week.
Mostly because people throw around "I've been here since OB, nub" like they are special. Who cares? Most of them have quit like 5 times already. Being in a place longer than others doesn't make you special in any shape or form. Who cares?
Where I work, for every 5 years of service, you get to pick a stupid prize out of a stupid catalog. My 10th year is fast approaching and I couldn't care less. When I hit 5 years, our HR person actually went to the director of my department and demand that I order something from the catalog because I kept ignoring her requests that I do so. Who cares who's been here longer?
I have been playing since the date on the left there. I've never lapsed in my billing. Does that make me special? I know you people that have been here forever think you should all receive awards or something. I honestly don't care.

As special as anyone else giving money to the company which they run on.
I honestly don't care.
You don't care about alot of things, thats ok. Everyone have different things they care about. But regardless of you caring or not doesn't change the fact that NCSoft runs on money.
Well, then, like I said, give everyone a plaque saying how long they've had an active account. It can be a nice one that is suitable for framing and can be shown off on dates and job interviews.
Dont the older players already have Crono weapons that newer players dont have? Was that an event? Im confused on the concept of this event.

Chances are, some people who have that plaque won't be on dates or at job interviews.
Sorry about the bumpage, but the update that was the original subject of this thread has been live for a couple days now and having experienced it I wanted to answer the question:
What's so great about it?
The rewards. And the fact that they accumulate with your paid time. Wings are really freakin' cool, adding to the already ridiculously deep character customization. Additional powers, costume parts, pets, a lot of effort and care went into each tier of bonuses. They're nice rewards for players that have stuck with the game, or for generating new interest. I hadn't played City of Heroes actively in about a year, but I had to renew so I could try out my wings and other bonuses.
I think the idea would work well in Lineage 2 because not only would it be rewarding the die-hards, but also those who haven't been banned in the past. Having something cool/useful to lord over the cheating bastiches makes me feel big.
there are plenty of us who have played since beta and have yet to max out our levels/equipment/etc. i think perhaps "event" mightn't be the right term for this, but it would be nice to have a rewards system for being a long term, legit, non-trouble-making player :)
my husband is enjoying having wings in coh; i would like to see something of this nature here. after all, free stuff is always appreciated, even if it's just for looks!
