Can someone help me understand the whole deal with the "u-craft-your-own" warsmith shops where you have to bring the recipe?
Obviously it is for rare B, most A, and nearly all S grade stuff (u don't have to bring your own recipe to craft Dss or Css or Full Plate armor or an SLS--sometimes not to make a Kris or Doom armor, etc.) that you have to have your own recipe.
That's the part I don't understand. It seems clear the WS HAS the recipe (I think it's obvious--they are able to post the recipe as needed so I presume it's in their inventory if not in their craft slots).
It would seem the WS wants the 200 or 500k or whatever the crafting fee is--and that they would want to earn that fee as many times as possible.
Unless everyone expects that clans keep those recs and loan them out to players, it seems odd to have an expectation that a melee, other DD, or mage needs to acquire a 20 million adena recipe to use once---then, what? Sit for 2 weeks trying to sell it back to someone at market rate to get their 20 million back?
I've tried to puzzle it out from the WS perspective--that doesn't make sense either. I can't see why the SAME warsmith would keep a doom heavy recipe loaded but not load the dama sword?
Why post the shop and not have the recipe loaded?
I'm evidently having a stupid moment and missing something obvious!
What's up with "u-craft-shops" where for some things you have to bring-your-own-rec too?
When you post the recipe it deletes it from existence, but for B and higher you have to have the 2 recs, one to register and one for the craft. All B or higher (except shots, mats, and arrows) require an additional rec when crafting. The extra rec is used up in crafting just like any other mat.
I think the whole thing with having a 2nd recipe for B to S grade is because it is/ was not 100% successrate. In C1 there where only 60% and 80% B grade recipes.
So when a craft fails you will loose all items you needed for the craft. Its logical to have a 2nd recipe then in case you fail the craft.
In c2 they added 100% B grade recipes for the 80% but the didnt change the components you need only raised them a little.
In order to craft something a warsmith needs to put a recipe in the recipe book, as that is done the recipe he reads gets consumed and disapear, as for B grade gear (not mats and arrows or shots) it says inside the recipe that you need a recipe in order to make it, it also gets consumed and disapears when you craft it, even we WS's need that second recipe too, we cant craft it either if we dont have it, its like Elrohir said the second recipe is an ingredient inside the main crafting recipe :) this only comes from B grade and upwards.. C grade still doesnt need that extra ingredient in form of a second recipe

Im going to try to craft my B grade gear. No way I can afford to buy it. So. Let me just ask you a couple questions as you seem knowledgable(sp blah I cant spell) Anway. Your saying any B grade weapon and armor requires the WS to have the rec AND a second rec also. Correct? I am a complete noob to crafting. Say I want to craft a Kris. I would probably go to stratics and look at what mobs drop the blades. Could I farm the required amount of blades myself? Would that take me months? So basically I would have to come up with a rec and the key mats on my own? The basic mats if I dont have enough I dont mind setting up shop to buy the remaining. Please explain a bit or correct any misunderstandings in what I just said.
yes, ws need a rec in his book and ion inventory (this 1 disapears) to craft B grade or above.
I dont know if you can farm blades on your's own. But in trio or so with BH you can farm them in 2-3 nights at ToI 1.
Where did you find the recipe like this? I just looked on Stratics and the recipes confused me. Sorry to ask so many questions. My laptop at work is insanely slow so it works better for me to ask where exactly I need to look lol. And TOI 1 you say. Hmm. Ill have to give that a shot. I think im getting to the harder parts of the game with being close to passing C grade. Crafting is just **** confusing to me right now. :p
Well, this clears up a lot (lol---I was calling WS's names in my mind!!!).
I only have a lvl 44 WS so I haven't gotten to the point to see B-grade recipes.
I thought I must be missing something fundamental in understanding (lol)!
All this information is really helpful--are there any WS's on Lionna that wanna buy the complete set of mats for a Dama sword (EXCEPT the stupid recipe)? Obviously I can't afford the recipe--the only one I saw for sale was going for 23 million. My clan helped me get all the mats and I have everything but no realistic chance to get the recipe--I'm sure the mobs who drop them are lvl 80 mobs or some uber raid boss I can't touch. With my clan mostly evaporated raid participation is pretty much over too for awhile.
Thanks for answers all! Cleared it up nicely. If I had researched this more I would have skipped the time for collecting all this schit or I would have picked a weapon with a recipe that went for a couple million. For some reason on Lionna a SoM rec is 1/10th the cost of a dama rec--aoba recipe is pretty cheap too. Next time I'll know to look further.
The drop rate for B grade weapon recipes are horrible, just so you know. It could take you a month of farming to get the **** things as a drop (Kesh and Damascus are the worst). It's easier to get A grade recipes lol

You don't want to know how long I've been hunting there...
Its perfect. In all the time I have spent searching this page I have never seen that link. I just printed a 7 page document on what it would take to craft my B grade. :( Kinda scary really.
Easy way to figure out what you need is get Elrohir's spreadsheet from his sig there. Just put a 1 next to the item you want to craft then go look at the mats sheet. Bam everything will be there for you.
Well the WS needs to have it listed in his book, the second recipe needs to be in Your inventory along with all mats needed to craft it, if the case is that you're using an AFK crafter, if you know a warsmith you trust you can pass over mats+rec, so the recs needs to be with the actual crafter which is not always the WS, afk crafting is like we give you a workbench and instructions on how to do it, but its you that does it, not the WS :)
As for farming all the key mats, i suppose thats possible.. for one or two items but not for a full set so you would probably have to end up buying some pieces anyway, but try and farm as much as you can :) A tip though, try and farm as much mats with manors as possible.. when crafting thats where you can save the cash, there arent that many keymats and they dont cost helluva lot of money either, well neither does bones for example but 2500bones*100a a piece or 13keymats*50k a piece? lol
I crafted my own b gear too, armors including and an absolute necessity(sp? :p ) was a spreadsheet :) <3 for my gf that kept track of all that stuff, lol
