Ok so to begin most people unless I knew them before L2 won't remember me or probably never knew me. But I have a few questions about the server and the clan/guild makeup.
Last time I played the server was pretty hard core and gankerific to the core. (not guild wars but just plain out straight pk'ers going naked killing every lowby they found). The Carebear alliance was battling the alliance that RiD(think that was the guild) was in.
So basically:
1) Is it still pretty hard core to where I won't lvl that fast cause of the random and often gankers? (not that I care just want to know what i'm getting myself into and not to expect more or less)
2) What are the major alliances going right now and what guilds make them up? (I see a new guild post but it is so lacking the old one that I remember from way back when with amount of guilds listed in it).
3) Are the Carebears alliance still around and fighting the alliance RiD was in and is RiD still around in any shape or form? (had 2 friends in RiD.. still not sure if that's the correct initials for the guild... Was a large guild that had 2 or 3 guilds to house all the members/alts like RiD, RiD2 etc.)
4) Do most guilds still have the same way of recruiting only players level 40+?
1) PK'ers around startert towns are rare right now, some of them are still active in AC and EG, but the chance that you run into them is much less then it used to be.
2) ICA (Innercircle, NonFactors, Redemption), Catalyst (Tempest-Catalyst-MXG), First, Shadows of Aden are the big ones. Since C5 lots of changes have made because of re-organisation.
3) Those are long forgotten. IC1, IC2, IC3 and IC4 are all melted into 1 little clan in the ICA Alliance though.
4) No some guilds will let you start at no matter what lvl below 40 now to get reputation points. Some other clans just dont bother and may or may not recruit at 52 or higher.
1) The server's identity of hardcore is not gone but the targets have moved up to 70+ chars and end game ganking/PvP'ing and occasional griefing (although with C5 it's more the clan wars and such that appeal).
Indeed PK'ers around startert towns are rare right now and indeed some of them are still active in AC and EG, but the chance that you run into them is much less then it used to be. There is also a group of players taking care of those PK'rs when spoted and reported to saveguard a good play conditions for lower leveled chars

C5 now only allows 3 main clans in one alliance which has led to the reorganisation of many of these BIG alliances and some of the formerly known clans have melted together in order to comply to the new set-up of Alliances.
3) Carebears? Hmmm..Haven't really seen any anymore. IC1, IC2, IC3 and IC4 are indeed all melted into 1 little clan in the ICA Alliance though.
Don't recall if it was RID or RIP but I haven't seen those in a long time so they either are gone or reorganised under a new name (I think it's that last one).
4) With C5 clans tend to change their policy of NOT recrutuiting lower levels then 40+ because of the Clan Academy (possible as of clan lvl 5). These academy students give the clan in question reputation points as soon as they are 40 and have done their second class change. The student on the other hand can receive a Clan oath D grade Armor with a small quest that takes you 15 minutes max and (depending on the armor chosen) 792 or 922 D crystals. The stats are good and the armor looks cool.
However, you will always have those clans that donot care about all this stuff and still will only recruite as of 52+ and not bother with lower levels or students.

just a note.. when I said carebear alliance I meant that was the actual name of the alliance (or at least what I thought was the name of it heh).. hehe not the negative term used for a certain style of play. :P Also did RiD melt into the Tempest group then do you know? Or had they disbanded long ago? I think their alliance they were part of had RiD, Tempest (I think) and some others. I could be mistaken it really has been a looong time. LOL
On another note, I have a lvl 21 Palus Knight. That whole academy system sounds interesting. Wish they would of had something like that when I first played.
Oh and i'm doing fine myself too, just woke up at 11am central time. *yawn* :P
(yah I never got really high lvl, used to spend too much time chatting at the ruins of despair rather than lvl up lol)
Don't really know who melted into what or how, but Tempest is still alive and kicking and are part of the Catalyst Alliance.
Well I've been around since prelude and am only lvl 64 myself so I didn't really Level the lungs out of me myself ;) It's a game and needs to stay enjoyabel :)
Think you'd have a hard time now to chatter in the Ruins of despair cause there is hardly anyone there anymore :( A bit the problem on siegh is that the most new chars we see are an alt or reroll of known BIG mains...Few players are acatually 'new', but we still get those every now and then ^^
ahhh yah I heard that same thing when i first started. I was lvling for a few lvl's with a gal from france and her brother. They were shocked when i said I was brand new (back in Nov. 2004) cause they said then it was rare to see an actual new person and not just an alt of someone else. hehe
And yah i'm at RoD right now and it's pretty empty except for me and the mobs. LOL
Even those of us who came in later to Sieghardt (I came over from Gustin just as C2 was breaking) know the name CBA.
I do think you are speaking of RIP (Rest in Pieces). There are occasionally some people who sport a red and black RIP tag, but I believe for all practical purposes, that clan is no longer an active foprce on Sieghardt.
The Tempest you recall is not exactly the same Tempezt that is here now... but you'll surely come to know that in time.
ahhh yah probably was RiP, it's really been a long time. I came over from SWG (back when it was still a good game before sony did the whole NGE fiasco) and then moved on to WoW. I still play WoW on the European servers and have a 60 mage there. I just need a little diversity or I end up burning myself out on a game.

I'm not quite sure what that's supposed to mean except that we are obviously Catalyst as of C5. For the record, I was on vacation back when the most recent Tempest pledge was made, so I disavow all responsibility for the "z" :p

Considering that the same is true of virtually every clan that he knew of back in the day, I was just curious to see if you had a particular reason for mentioning Tempest. In any case, several of us from C1 and before are still kicking around; we're not antiquated just yet :p

:p I was actually the first to mention tempest (as in the old days) because I forgot that indeed now it's with a 'z' ;)
But it was merely in reply towards the OP questions, as was Pam's attempt to clarify further. I've never been much of a political follower so I get confused sometimes ^^
So I guess my next logical question.. any guilds/clans have room in their academy side? :P lvl 21 palus knight most likely going BD hehe
