Is this ability worth using for a dagger Darkelf? Im currently lvl 38 and sometimes i like to combine VS with my mortal blow. Is this something i should keep doing, combining VS with my dagger abilites then turning it off right after, Is it worth even doing this. It can get annoying when it doesnt activate or deactivate like i want it too, its quite a chore todo lol. Should i keep VS on my toolbar and keep using it with my dagger abilties? or just forget the skill and scrap it.
Also what skills are most important to have at quick reach on main toolbar for you Dagger classes?
VS adds to your critical damage by fixed amount, like 200 or 250 (do not remember exact number). So being under 40 it helps, but the more you get your Critical Damage passive higher, the lesser the difference will be. I mean: if you crit for 800 and with VS for 1000, that's maybe a notable difference. But once you hit for let's say 3000 and with VS for 3200, the difference is not that much. As you are DE, you only get Critical Damage passive, which renders VS not that shiny.
On the other hand, for example Ligh Elves do not get any Crit damage passives, only Crit Rate, there it makes some difference.
But in general, I doubt anybody uses it in PVE - it drains mana pretty fast and specials are more effective than rely on crit with 200 added damage.
Actually its one of the first skills I upgrade everytime. First MB, Backstab, Weapon skills, Armour skills then VS, then whatever is left. Alot of time, when I am running low on MP, and there are alot of mobs on me, I just turn on VS, and go to town. MB sometimes uses way to much MP, expecially if you need to spam it. Expecially useful in parties when you are attacking from behind, expecially with buffs and a weapon with focus. Its not unheard of to do 8-10 crits in a row for an AW (Even though we don't get much in the name of crit bonuses). Even if that is only 250 extra damage (not sure if I agree with this, always seems to do alot more to me) 8 X 250HP = 2000 HP. In the time to take down a mob, MP usage usually less then a MB attack, which may net you an extra 1000 or so HP off the mob, and in many times leads to a total miss.
I used to use VS on my rogue, because it helped clear the room faster and I had my main SE on tail recharging.
But now I do not use it, Dagger masteries + PL set + Focus dagger makes really not that big difference if mob goes down one hit earlier or not (mind you I barely use soulshots when I farm).
You said it yourself by what skills you learn first, I said earlier "unless you have more usefullskills to learn". What else vital for combat is there anyway?
Another big difference/reason to have VS. PVP. Having a person die 1 hit sooner can be the difference between living and dying.
It does depend alot on what you are doing to. I use it mostly when out leveling. If your not using SS, and 1 extra hit makes no difference, then sure it may be a wasted skill. If you are spaming SS, and not only are you saving 1 extra hit of SS, can mean difference between breaking even/making a profit. Also if every mob you attacked died 1 hit faster, after a night of grinding, you would end up with a bit more XP. Maybe not much, but every bit helps.
VS is an essential for a dagger. I use it before every deadly blow/mortal blow/blinding blow/backstab because it contributes to a huge portion of my damage. Sure, it's a pain to use at first, but now it's natural to me to his the VS hotkey before i use a skill.
Outside of stabs, if you're grouping and have full buffs you can add a good chunk of damage on top of your crits by activating it.
OP did not say if it's for PVP or PVE. I agree in PVP it makes difference. But in PVE it can drain your MP pretty fast, unless you have recharger on your tail. So I would not use it for normal grinding. In 'oh sh*t' situations when being surronded by mobs, or when killing some special mob it helps, indeed, because you want to get rid of them as fast as possible.
it all depends.
i usualy solo catas with OOP buffs. Im doing fine, i dont use VS att all. If the room is hard, I use VS--> BS then turn VS off again. at my lvl, VS adds ~800-1000 dmg to my BS. around 200 dmg to my normal crits. Im using a CD dagger tho, so Im not using VS if Im not BSing.
BUT, if you have problems cleaning a room, and your HP going down all the time even with VR, so you have to use pots, I would use VR only, no BS or deadlyblows at all (they dont give hp back from vr) even tho VS does not go very well with critical damage SA. but if you have a focus dagger I would always use VS no skills (hp++++++)
in pvp i ALWAYS activate VS befor any battle.
are you sure, because i have noticed that my crit dmg bonus with viscious stance is allot lower when im fully buffed. But when buffs go away is when i really see the visciouse stance comming into play.. why is that?
another question since allof of high lvl Daggers are reading through this:
What tatoos should i equip at lvl 40? currently have have +4str -4con, im considering +4dex -4con.. is that a smart decision? I am dark elf abysswalker btw. Is dex more important then str? all i know is i LOVE my str tatoo, it raised my p attack by over 50! thats like a +10 enchantment on my weapon!.. neways will i see the same buff increasing my Dex +4.. or should i not sacrifice nemore HP? Im usually clan buffed so i suck life, im thinkin more dex faster attacks, more lifesuck..
Please give any advice as to tatoo suggestions, thank you =)
first, VS (vis stans) seems to add less when you are buffed becus it adds a fixed amount of p.attack/damage. for example if you use a dagger lvl XX, you will do 500 dmg+150 VS damage. if you use a Bow you will do 1500 dmg +150 VS damage... same counts with buffs.
2nd, if you gonna PvE you can do -8 con, or -9 if you want, and do +4/+5 str/dex or vice vers, but you dont want to do that at lvl40, especialy not on a DE! +4str is fine for now i would say. later on tho, in your 60's you can do that..but, you will be very very fragile with -8/9 con and light armor...and a joke in PvP.
