I started playing L2 about a week ago and the first server I tried was Erica and it just really sorta stuck for me. I've found this to be a really enjoyable world with quite a few very nice people in it. My only difficulty at the moment is finding a clan to join. I considered starting one of my own, but thought perhaps joining an established clan would be a good idea. Of course in looking for a clan there's also several things I'd like to find in whatever clan I join. Mainly I'd just like to find a friendly and helpful clan on Erica that's interested in grouping for missions or hunts, having fun and meeting other nice players around the 18 to college age group. ^_^ I'm not big into pvp and I don't do PKing. Also my main, Juriel, is currently a Level 20 elven knight just for reference since I know some clans only want players of higher levels. I have to be honest, I work and go to college so I have to divide my time up and can't be online all the time but I am willing to make time for hunts and group activities.
That aside, I'm really enjoying my stay here in the Erica server and intend to stay here. ^_~

this is easy for you to say now, but when you get into 60+ and you start geting involved into the PvP worther you like it or not..your goign to really hate wasting what lil time you have on erica.
take it from me, and reroll another server now, while you still have the chance. and didn't waste too much of your life a slave to the higher powers, that will pk you if you party with their enemy.
Don't listen to nolerahl, he left the server a while ago. PvP is a huge part of this game of course, that is true. And there are lot's who will try and drag you into it. Plenty of clans are willing to take lower level people into their academy these days so finding a clan to join shouldn't be too hard.

^_~ Yeah, I've had one or two try to engage me in PvP but I pretty much stay out of it for now since my focus is questing and trying to achieve higher levels. It's nice to know that clans are open to allowing lower level players in, after all everyone started out at a lower level, since I know some have stricter ruling regarding the levels of their members.
As a player with low PvP profile, I can tell you that if you want to avoid it, you can avoid it. Of course there are those who would try to drag you, but just ignore them and you'll have a happy non-PvP life.
Most of the high-lvl clans are accepting people under lvl 40 so they can join the Academy. The main reason is that when those toon reach lvl 40, the clan gains honor points. Try to speak to knightsfury, dawnsfury or Niteeye from ShadowStorm and ask them if they still need members for the Academy.
Or you can join ours, we've existed since the beginning and is a pretty laid back clan with members of many different kinds of levels with little issues. We've recently had a surge of new players join the clan, so there's quite a few to play with.
We don't really PvP, other than some sieging occationally and helping out friends, but thats just the higher levels that does this. Other than that we're completely relaxed and laid back, we don't put any demands on your leveling or time. If you're tight on money, we help out with gear and crafting too.

You can also join Duroons clan, they are also a very nice bunch and a good clan to be in. :)

That's been my strategy for avoiding pvp so far and it's worked very well since with the exception of people who are specifically looking to pk most people will just leave you alone if you don't fight back.
I'll check with those people and see about that clan, I'm just sort of fishing around right now but it sounds pretty cool.
Sounds like a pretty pleasant clan. ^_^ Once I'm higher level I wouldn't mind sieging and such, but right now I'd get my butt handed to me more than likely. I'll probably toss a pm your way.
