People on these forums currently know my wife and I run a 2 man, 1 woman team when not grouped, BH / Destroyer + PP + SE.
I dual box the PP with ethier the BH or Destroyer and my wife plays her SE.
Now, i finished grinding some xp out last night with my brother and a few other REAL LIFE friends, people who know me in real life and who have been to my house.
So i goto log in my Prophet today and nothing happens, i thought i was having some lag issues, check my bandwidth etc and no problems there, so i thought it may have been a login server issuse, so i came here to check it out for anyone else having the same issues none, so i waited a hour.
A hour later i tried to log in again, nothing, i tried on my other computers and same problem, yet no message down the bottom of what was going on, so i went to my account info and my PP account has been blocked!!!!!!!!!!
Checked my email and i have this in there, directed to Nobody:

What is this bs NCsoft? Ive constantly been standing against Bot behaviour here in the forums and in game and then to be accused of botting its just outrageous.
I've level'd this account manually all the way to 60 and you guys have the nerve to just ban it like that? Not to mention you banned it while i was offline.
This is total bs NCsoft, i mean, did you even bother to do a log file check on my account or did some noob i owned in catacombs get ****** and report me as a bot user and you just banned me cause they petitioned?
Pity is saturday here in Australia and i cant ring no one as yet, but i will be ringing on monday first thing thats for sure and if this problem isnt resolved, i will be canceling all my accounts, and for those who want my gear, dont think so ill throw it on the ground before server reset if this isnt fixed.

I have many macros set up so i dont have to go through and click every single god **** buff every 20 mins on 7 different classes..........

And 1 out of the 4 accounts i have is banned for something i would never partake in, not to mention, all 4 accounts are paid with the same credit card yet i still have access to 3 and 1 is banned.
Hmmm couldnt log in today as well. looks to be the same problem as before with me being unable to reach the loginserver.
But, reading your post, I quickly checked my e-mail. Could I have been banned as well? But no, nothing in my inbox. So it is not not the bannings that somehow splattered me as well. So it is just me beign unable to log in for a different reason. Sigh.
Back to the issue however. Wildrain, the only thing you can do is to contact support about this. Mistakes happen, nobody is perfect after all.

Something like they target you or put your name somewhere and then use command like //bot_check 1, I know what I'm talking about.

Mi use Bot Progremm!!11 Mi is China!!' and PKed the people who asked, they said they'll report that they're bots, they said 'Go ahead!' but never got banned because they didn't bot at all.
I can even send a petition I'm bot, they will not ban me until they check by HGMs/GMs command if I really botted, and if I didn't they will not ban me.
Also, you shared your account with friend, no matter if it's friend in real life or some that you met in internet, it's still the same - account sharing, from what I remember it's breaking rules.

It could be difficult to see the point but to miss the irony of the situation you'd have to be pretty stupid, you seem to have missed both by the looks of it. How about not being an *** eh? :P

Well, i believe in conspiracy theroies and because we know that there is massive bannings going on, because lets face it, look how light the servers are lately and also, look how unpopulated the catacombs are lately, it realistically couldnt have come at a better time.

NCsoft are pre-releasing Lineage 2 in the epic, edition, ban all bots to make more money again on box sales as well know that by this time in the game the bots have made more then their fair share worth and can afford to splurge another 9 copies per group to get the ball rolling again.
In the process maybe some legit players get burnt, maybe not......time will tell.
Ok, now I'm confused, I've actually read teh EULA and do not recall reading anywhere, that it's not legal to have 2 accounts that you play simultaneously. If its considered botting, tehn please, how do you come to that conclusion? Most boxers have a buffer, you can have it on autofollow sure, but in order to help your main, you'd have to press some buttons.
I have a warcryer that I box, name is choobe. I have 3 macros on him, buff, heal, and assist. In order to do any of those I have to press the buttons. How is this agains the EULA ?

I'm against dual boxing because it brings the fact that you have more disposable income into the game, when it shouldn't. People shouldn't have an advantage in a game, because they're richer in real life - which is the main reason i'm against ebaying adena.
However, everyone dual boxed and it's not illegal to do it so you shouldn't have been banned... maybe they sent you a PM and you missed it. I don't know how they do the checks. <Shrug>

I as a archer can't find groups, I often ask friends if they'd like to lvl with me, specailly healer types like bishops and EE, or support types like BH's, and sws(if you can every find any one that plays one) or bd's.
I do so cause they help me as much I help them, the kill rate of a archer far out last that of a nuker! a nukers mp can't keep up, not like a OOP SE can on a HE.
what ****** me of, isn't so much the use of botting, or the prgram used, but is the use of the Program while in PvP to have a bonus reword and easily win.(healer spam healing)
If NCsoft would do something about the high lvl XP curve then I'd deffently change my point of views, but till then every one will be influenced to bot.
to be able to run your toon to lvl your self with out having to be at the key baord is helpful to some people. I know that after about 6-8 hours hunting my hand and fingers start to hurt, If I boted I'd not that problem cause the program would do it for me. then there is socail life and health reasons to.
Siting behind a key board 6-18 hours a day every day and not getting out side to exercise is not healthy. But we still do it...why: cause we want that next lvl, that next goal, or that last comment to someone.

Just an FYI... the account sharing issue does not include/affect family. From what I recall the OP saying, it was his brother who was playing with him. A confusing point though.

dual boxing is why there are no healers. ive nearly quit my EE several times because group already have a SE and PP 2 boxed and have no need for a healer that is actually in party. so because more healers quit, more people 2 boxed.

Yeah if that is happening to lots of people with buffbots, that is totally stupid. If they can't tell the difference between a char on autofollow, and a bot, that is pretty silly. Expecially when I used to make dozens of complaints about "true" bot parties, and months later they are still there, yet a bunch of people have their dualboxed toon on autofollow, and bam they are all gettting cleaned off the board.
Well, I box 2 chars, sometimes 3 when the wifes making food. But what concerns me, is whats going to happen next, Yes NcSoft has found a way to catch the botters, But they have made some mistakes. However the fallout from yesterday is the worring bit, Alot of friend that dont bot, have deside to leave because there friends have been banned... Perhaps you should re-read my post. Please read the first line again, maybe 2 or 3 times. We party with our friends all the time and not just the ones from work, our clan members as well.
well i think they Ban people that use 3e party programs witch is ofcourse logical i never read they banned people becose their healer type is set on auto follow ingame or when use a ingame marcro for buffing
If there were a problem with running multiple clients, I think they'd have tried to prevent us from running them rather than giving us things like windowed mode :p
As for account-sharing, I don't remember the details of the "family" condition, but someone on the NC staff (sorry, I can't remember who it was) posted some time ago that they didn't go around looking for people to ban for account-sharing and that the rule was basically in place for the protection of both NC and the customer. If the customer violates it at his/her own risk, that just means that any issue involving possession of or access to the account in question becomes that much more difficult to resolve.
In short, I don't know why NC banned the OP, but I don't think it's possible that he was banned for two-boxing, regardless of how it was done (excepting 3rd party program, of course, which is a separate issue). If NC were handing out bannings for that, there wouldn't be enough subscribers left to cover the electric bill at NC NA's offices.

He wasn't banned for accounting sharing, it was for third party program use (well, that's what ncsoft said). I seriously, seriously doubt they would ban if you shared the account because after all, who the hell cares? I mean seriously, doesn't anyone remember when that brother team, I think in Korea, got the first level 75 or whatever by playing it in turn almost 24/7?
And don't give me that family crap, where would you even end that? Sisters can play my account but cousins can't? What if I had no family? I mean come on.
lol just because they claim to be dual boxing, does not mean they are usuing 2 pcs... I've heard of plenty of ppl that use their main client then an illegal program to run their buffer behind them. Sure dual boxing isnt wrong, but if they do a //check_bot1 and the result is ~BOT! well they are using an illegal program, hence the bans.

The following may not apply to you, but I bet it applies to just about everyone else in this thread!
I am a multi-faceted person, so is my son, so we have more than one character in game. Infact, between my son and I, we have 14 characters across 4 accounts ranging from level 42-67 male and female. Every single one of them is a different class. We've been playing this way for 2 years now.
Is this an advantage to us? Of course it is! It's also an advantage to our clan mates as well as other people in game.
Think about that the next time your out hunting somewhere and a SE/PP duo run by, stop and buff you for no apparent reason, then run on. It might just be us, since sometimes we just feel like taking our SE and PP out and just buffing people in hunting grounds. Sometimes we sell buffs, other times we don't. It's a pretty good way to make some extra adena in game, and it's totally legal! Our buffers might be only level 55, but I tell you that level 20-50 players that we buff for free sure don't complain about it! In fact, the people that pay for the buffs when we're selling them don't complain either!
I never said those that two-box ebay adena, don't get so panicked. Nor did i whine, i put forth my opinion with, what i think is, a valid reason. Sorry if i shook your very basis for life; you'd swear i'd told the pope that Jesus never existed.
Ebaying adena hurts the servers because it encourages farmers.
Multi-boxing hurts the servers because you rarely see a buffer as a main.
It's all very convenient when there's an out of party buffer, or just one on your beck and call all day but i think something is lost in the game when you rarely see "SE lfg" anymore when you're in a dungeon or whatever.
The times when i can't get a group i solo, often get buffs from the people in the area. I don't sit in town and cry myself to sleep. (Besides, the baby pets are good for heals, and cheap!)
Advantage? Try it yourself, keep up with XP (party bonus) and corresponding gear. Remember, for the same adena you drop, you have to equip 2 toons.
And third market is still more expensive than paying 2 accounts - trust me, I tell it from perspective of citizen of country that is barely known. And if so, then they consider us "we just climbed down from the trees".
Very true. My son and I use multiple computers because we don't like the delay time switching windows. We find that the second character can be much more an active part of the party if we can see both screens and access both keyboards at the same time. Many's the time I've been able to rescue the party by being able to cast GG heals and individual heals from my SE while I continue targeting and fighting on my Warlock. Same goes for my son on the PP. We get to much aggro and he continues fighting on his PS while he's casting roots and even sleeps from the PP. It does get hairy sometimes though, you know, those "Oh Crap" moments!

What? Dude, doesn't matter if I had good or bad day, I just PK sometimes people for no reason at all, this game allows me to PK anytime I'm out of the city, I can do it so why not?
If you see a red guy you think like: "ohh, he propably lost his job in reality today! Poor guy!", that's sick.
As I said I like to kill people for no reason so I play Lineage II, today I had horrible day but I didn't PK anyone.
I also like to watch nukers going down after one critical hit.
You should watch your shout box more often. I don't know what server your on, but just last night I was in apostate and there were 2 SE's shouting LFG! If it wasn't for the fact that we already had one in our party (live SE not my second character) we would have invited one of them right away!
By the way, I personaly don't like out of party buffers, and we don't allow our buffers to be used that way. If you party with us, you party with our buffers too. If your main is a buffer class we will drop our buffers out and log them off and you get their slot in the party. A live player trying to level his buffer main gets priority in the party over our own buffers. The only time we won't do this is if the person is too low level for the party we are in. Their XP will suck and it could be potentially harmful to the party.

Yeah i can see how that can be a little misleading, but to clear it up, no one shared any accounts, my friends have their own accounts, my brother has his own accounts and my wife and I both have our own accounts.
Hope it clears it up, besides nothing can be done until monday anyways and this thread will more then likely get locked, i posted it out of frustration and a desire to let NCsoft know that maybe there hitting a few legit people in the process here, i mean think about it, why would i be all anti bot on the forums but only to turn around and bot in the game then get caught and come here and cry about getting caught when realistically i could just go buy another account and pay the *unmentionables* to bot me up in a week to get me back where it took me almost 1 and a half years to get in the first place?

Well, I'm a noob, and so far this has all made sense. In summary;
Bot'ing = using 3rd party software to automate characters = BAD!
dual-boxing = Using two, or more computers/L2 clients to be able to control more than character at the same time = hardcore, yet GOOD!
macro'ing = In game command scripts to automate sequences of skills, etc. = GOOD!
ebaying = RL trade of in-game adena and items for RL cash = BAD!
racism = Slurs against players RL nationality = UNACCEPTABLE! :mad:
MMORPG = A online game of cooperation and social interaction = OFTEN FORGOTTEN!
And a final note.- It does make me chuckle, the people with more than one account. Whilst I know it's perfectly affordable to own more than one account, I do wonder when you have the time to actaully go to work! :)

And a final note.- It does make me chuckle, the people with more than one account. Whilst I know it's perfectly affordable to own more than one account, I do wonder when you have the time to actaully go to work! :)

3rd party programs could include drop sniffers as well. You generally have to fail to respond to a petition while actively moving (doing actions etc) to get the bot ban (ask the botters). You'll get your account back on Monday or you're a politician; pick a lie and stick to it no matter what.

Have no doubts, 2 accounts makes leveling easier...because they don't have to level at the same time. Buffer/DD combinations are nasty. Low levels can get great exp power leveled by a good dd, and the buffs themselves come at relatively low levels. By 56 most buffers are good enough that they no longer need to be leveled, you just have to find legit healers to party. 2boxing is an ABSURD advantage.
So if you are against botting you cant be banned? I think everyone should go with that logic.

No I dont find it ironic he got banned for botting when he is against is 100%. Isnt that what everyone would say when they try to get an account back? Or are they just going to say "hey I was botting, give me my account back"? I feel that when you two box you open yourself up to the chance of being flaged as a third party program user. There have been people talking about this since the start of the game, wether or not any of it is true.
I feel it's a slippery slope. They ether need to make two boxing against the game rules or modify the game policies so innocent people aren't being caught. But that opens a can of worms on the issue of third party programs.
I think it would be better for everyone to just do away with dual boxing.

So what? Flag me every time I log in. Everyone that sees me can report me. Hell, I'd encourage it. It should NEVER lead to an actual ban if NCSoft is doing their job.
If you have a person that has two laptops... And one is set up as a buffer using the ingame macros, and the other one is the main character they play.
If the person doesn't talk.. And any game petitions that are open show up on the buffers laptop which the player never sees. Then the person runs the chance of the GM flaging that player using third party programs.
Thats the issue i'm talking about. How can the GM tell whats third party or another person dual boxing. Ether change the game rules to allow dual boxing and third party OR make rules against dual boxing.
NCsoft opens a petition while investigating, asks you for information (current hp, total hp, level etc) among many other tactics to verify. It is compeltely incidental, or he's full of it and a botter. In which case, it normally takes a few days before all the accounts on a Credit Card are banned.

There are so many players who are using 3rd party programs and causing far more problems than some ******* who bots a buffer -- the major problems are the bot trains taking hunting spots and the 24/7 farmers. Go after them first, take care of that issue, then go for the small fries. Yes, any third party use is bad, but some are far worse than others.
It's like a cop pulling someone over for doing 70 in a 65 zone, while at the same time there are hundreds of others driving 140 mph down the wrong side of the road while drunk. Both are breaking the law, but some are far worse than the others.
And really, there are tests they can do. Legit players shouldn't be accidently banned unless their tests are absurdly bad. If farmers who have been reported dozens of times can somehow convince the GMs they're legit, I would hope no real player would get falsely banned.
I disagree. I would compare it to drunk driving. Get caught once, get caught twice, either way you should end up in jail and never be allowed to drive again.
They use automated programs to test for third party programs. I would dare to say that i bet it's easier for a automated program to fool another automated program. Then it is for a real player to pass the test of the automated tester.

Never have I had a gm pm me or any of my clannies whether 2 boxed or just partied ...
in fact it is us who pm to no avail about 3rd party users seems how GM's are just ghosts on lionna all we ever see is nada zip nuttin ...
But I also know a few people who have gotten the ban hammer durring mass bot bans and the return of accont is at about 35% now so if you do get it back try some overenchanting of S or A grade cause your luck is high then ...
And yes I think there should be a live human doin the bans not an occasional program that checks and decides but the cost to check all 10k+ petitions of bots I am sure would be costly...
I mean lets think about it this way ... how long would it take one of you to make a 90% verification they are usin a 3rd party program for each of the bots in the catacombs ... ok so how many people do you need for just 1 server to check all the suspected bots in one day ... you really think the GM makes the final decision ? Its like in sports, put the money and effort where it matters, against the pro-sport cheaters and top players.
All this leads to is that it spreads doubt about NCSofts abilities, wether they ban the right people and leads to situations like the Stabby ban which lead to absolutely zero positive effect and the community lost a great member.

Quite true. Many accounts are banned MONTHS after the incident of the bannable offense occurred. Do you really think they process all those petitions instantly? If they did, why would they have automated responses? It's because the rate of petitions is at times greater than the rate of filling. And investigations take time. Freddy's account was banned for an infraction that occurred in August while the ban actually occurred sometime in the new year.

Truly, many of the bots don't login with gameguard...who knows maybe //check_bot simply checks if you're connected to both servers :p
Like i said, nothing can be done until monday anyways and this thread will more then likely get locked, i posted it out of frustration and a desire to let NCsoft know that maybe there hitting a few legit people in the process here, i mean think about it, why would i be all anti bot on the forums but only to turn around and bot in the game then get caught and come here and cry about getting caught when realistically i could just go buy another account and pay the *unmentionables* to bot me up in a week to get me back where it took me almost 1 and a half years to get in the first place?

Like i said, in time it took me to lvl my PP to 60 took me roughly 1 and a half years, must be a slow 3rd party program i guess...... :p

Anyways, if i was cheating or hacking on a video game with the intentions of being caught, why would i pay for all 4 accounts with the same credit card plus the account i was supposedly cheating on?
Could it be i wasnt cheating and was afk or had my window minimized and missed a PM from a GM? Highly possible as im usally in window'd mode surfing the net, watching Giran for deals and steals and making stuff for higher levels toons at their request on my WS.

Unless your toon is active during the petition, nope. And you would still see the window open when you went back as has happened to my 2box. That's not true at all. I always buff with macros, and they work just fine. You can't use the same spell back to back until you've learned enough quick recovery levels to reduce the cooldown to less than the cast time, though. It's very easy to make buff macros without any issue that don't cast the same spell back to back, which is not very commonly needed anyway.
I've buffed my summon with macros since the day they added macros to the game, and it works every single day without fail.
The bug that caused the delay to be needed only happened for characters with over 1200 cast speed, and I believe they fixed that. Can always test it later, haven't actually tested that since C2. Without a bladedancer even my friend's EE won't hit 1200; her buff macros never break as long as she doesn't need to move while buffing. If the party is spread out and she needs to move to cast the next buff, sometimes it breaks after that buff.

Yep same here, i've buffed with macros since the day they implemented it.
Got 3 main macros i use'd and 2 that i didnt use very often, i very rarely went to my Skills / Magic tab and clicked manually, if ever after they introduced macros or dragged them out onto a hot bar.
Also let me add, if you played a PP all the way to 60 doing nothing but buffing every 20 mins, you would take a 1 second cast time delay between macro use over doing it manually i can asure you, but as pointed above, as you learn more faster reuse passive abilties the delay is about 0.3 seconds between macros with acumen + zerk. Really nothing to be concerned about to be honest.
whats the problem in sharing accounts? i never give mine or take someone's account but mostly of security reasons. i would never like to lose my gear or be accused that i stole anything, but i still cant see whats is wrong with sharing besides safety of items. is it illegal by EULA?

i have NO /delay 1 in my buff macro and it works SLIGHTLY slower then me pressing the next buff before the earlier one is finished. incase your wondering i buff w/ acu zerk and +5 wit on an EE
Ill check into it. Haven't macro buffed in months because it was so awfully slow it wasn't worth doing.
EDIT: The delay was cranked down to one, you don't need the /delay 1 now but it's still 1 second between casts. Very noticeable on my proph w/BW/Acu3/Zerk2 +5 wit

there is an 0,5 sec standard delay between rows in macros, that always excisted there, thats also why the problem occures with an EE abow 1200 casting speed. Add /delay 1 just make it worser, it dosnt help a thing.
Dunno if this delay applies to everything placed in macros, because unequiping/equiping items can be done quicker then it can be displayed on the screen. And thats changing between 2 sets of armor and weapon (gloves, boots, top, bottom, weapon).

Yes, my dismount strider + equip weapon and shield macro is instant.
I think that each skill is separated by a delay that is some multiple of 0.5 seconds. So if the skill takes 2.1 seconds to cast, the next skill happens 2.5 seconds after the first so there's a 0.4 second delay.
When buffing with an Elven Elder with ~900 cast speed I know the delay is virtually nonexistant; I can't tell the difference between when my friend uses macros and when he buffs by hand. With different cast speeds the delay between skills becomes noticable.
I was reading this thread and started thinking about something before it got derailed. Let's face it, GMs play the game. Maybe not all but to some extent they do. Now let's say someone griefs the alt of a GM. Later someone else lodges a complaint against the griefer (or alt) and this GM gets hold of the complaint. Tsk, makes you want to think twice and play nice.
The official message board is not the place to discuss or address an action taken against an account. I can say, however, that players do not have to worry about being banned merely because someone reported them. As we have mentioned many times, investigations take place for every report, so just a report does not result in an immediate ban.
