Your thoughts on L2?

I played L2 up to lvl20 when it was new then quit to try other MMO's. Im back now to give it another try.

What are L2's strong points, weaknesses, and should I play (it will be only casual play if i do). Do you ever get used to the terrible movement controls? I get stuck on walls and other players all the time LOL!

Please give any advice you see fit on how I can have a good time. I love playing a combat rogue in WoW (not backstab spec), and love hunter there too except I'm terrible at it in dungeons. What class do you recommend for me? I would prefer human but what is good and easy to level? I'm thinking some sort of roguish class, maybe archer maybe just melee.

My account is not fresh (it has my old lvl 20 and other alts on it) so I dont think I get to take advantage of the newbie buffs and weapons I read about right?

Thanks!

First of the controls is a complaint i get from many friends that come from WoW and EQ2 they just dont like the point-Click thing; but after a while it will be just as easy as the WASD movment.
The game greatest is that you can do what ever you whant.
PvP, PvE, take over castles with your friends and allys or just sit in giran shouting what you whant to sell.

This game has more to offer then all the other Mmorpg's on the market today.
/agree

I have never heard of another one that offers any where near the content that L2 has.
What kind of content does it have lots of? I am familiar with the castle seige concept... what else is there to look forward to?

I'm a bit concerned about the posts I've seen on buffbots etc. I am not willing to double box... will I be ok single boxing?

yea you will allways be ok just soloing if that is what you like. just have to pick your monsters better.
I duel box just becuse i am lazy as hell.
And when you get higher getting a clan is a good thing to do as that makes getting groups alot easier.

And a good content for L2 is that the players actually makes a diffrent in this game.
What you do in the world has a small impact; Lineage has what people usally refer to as a butt load of Drama.
And L2 has PvP,PvE,Raidbosses, Partys, Fishing, TheSevenSings, Quest etc.
But as i said before its not that, that makes L2 better its the bloody drama. :D
There's a lot of content. It's just that "the players" are the game. L2 is a pvp game so if you are not interested in PvP then you just have to find reason to play.

I never though the movement controls were horrible at all and short of getting over "why my dark elf is running in a crouched state' (thought I had accidentally hit a button that made him that way) was able to move flawlessly from the very first time. So waht I'm saying is that you just need to forget about WASD (there is WASD in this game, it's just awkward at best) and just think about it more like "Neverwinter Nights" point and click or diablo.
I figured out early on that the "w a s d" controls didnt work worth a **** in L2 and started adapting to point and click. I did play up to level 20 here years ago using it.

Im just finding that the point and click is awkward. Its mildly annoying at this point running in and out of buildings..... but it seems like it will be terrible in high stress combat... especially combined with player clipping.

Anyway thats not a huge issue for me. Im just wondering if I can have fun here playing casually (10-20 hours a week or less I would think). What I'm really interested in is endgame content like castle siege, and exploring the world... but Im afraid I dont have near enough time to reach max level without quitting WoW, and I have no intention of doing that.

What server are you playing on? If its Lionna....are you looking for a clan? :P msg me if so
Catacombs, Necropolis's, Wall of argos, Imperial tomb, Forge of the Gods, Ice Queens Castle, Pagan Temple, Garden of Eva.....the list goes on and on of places to go and things to do. The artwork is stunning. There are places where the mobs are so bad that they might kill you just by looking at you! lol Places to go solo, places where you have to party, places where you can only have certain size parties (Pagen Temple). Forrest of the Dead, watch out if your there at night.

This game is content+++, but what the other guy said. The players make the game!
Same here. If your on Bartz, let me know. Always looking for new clan members.
You will get use to the point-and-click! I did! At first I found it akward, but now I like it over WASD sometimes. Since you are conditioned to use WASD it may take you more time to figure out the point and click, but in time you will get it! And it is the only way to play L2. If it wasn't a good way to play L2, the dev's wouldn't have made it playable like that.

By Content there are tons of different places to explore. Lots of new areas due to chronicles. It is a completely open game, and the best way to get to know other people is in this game. The clan structure is amazing, creates close knit people if you are the right level to go hunting with them. The open world makes the content your own. Basically if you wanna go somewhere you can. At level 20 you wanna try to brave it to a lvl 50 place just to see it! You probally can! Just grab some some of ur friends that are lower level or even higher level and do it.

PvP
Seiges
Raids
Exploration
Gear
Artwork
Landmass
Interesting Mobs
A few interesting Quests

Are just some of the things in L2's content.

If you wanna go human and go rouge style. Both the Hawkeye and Treasure Hunter are great! In c5 dagger classes got some nice boosts. I also find daggers to be fun in pve. They get a lot of sneaky pve skills. To run past mobs with silent step, or fake death. Also longer periods of holding your breath. A good exploration class. Also very deadly if you get into range on your opponent.

The Hawkeye is nice for PvP with it's range, if you like playing archer type classes.

Daggers are usually cheaper to level also. If you plan on going Bow User I would still use a dagger till you can get a B grade bow.

My advice. Is go rouge (lvl 20-40) and when you hit 40 decide if you want to go archer or dagger. As a rouge you can play around with a bow and dagger. Although you don't get your "cool" skills until after you become one or the other. But it is a good way to test the overall gameplay.
