Grouping and exp limit?

Is there a limit to the level range people can group together and still get experience from a kill? Or can any level range of people group but the experience is capped at a certain point for those of the lower level (not getting the same amount of the higher levels in the group)?

Thanks
well lets say you are 40 and groep with people of 70 your Gain is very low sinds xp's sp's are spilited on damage done
so it's unwise and risky to groep with this people
XP/SP is not split based on damage done. This is only if you are splitting the xp with a pet.

Abisha, if you doubt me (since I know you will), Go get in a party with someone your own level. Have them kill the mob. You will get the same amount of xp that they did (assuming that you did what I said, and you are the same level as them.)

XP/SP is split based on the level of the party members, not damage done.
Your cut is your level^2/(sum of squares of levels group members). there is also a % bonus on the XP a mob gives depending on how many people are in a group. If there is a a person more than 20 levels lower than the highest member an XP penalty is applied though i'm not sure of the numbers on that.
Physics has it exactly i believe--for the 'generalists' (non-specific A.D.D types):

3-4 levels--no problem.
5-10 levels--you're getting in the range that you could do better solo (unless the duo or group you're in is killing stuff a) VERY fast, or b) getting phenomenal drops off mobs u couldn't kill alone).
Over 10 levels--you're just being power-leveled and may as well be on 'follow' (which is a stinky thing to do imo).

If servitors and pets are factored in it can get more complicated.
Basically, group with folks near your level--it usually is simpler and works reasonably well.
If you have to be in a dissimilar group (by level), you prob don't want to be the lower guy!!
if you duo with someone higher lvl then you, you will never ever get BAD xp, it will always be OK xp / kill for you, but ofc you could get better if you solo or group with people in your own lvl-range.
for example if you have a friend lvl60, and you are lvl40, it would not be that bad if you party with them..
Its nor very uncommon that lvl58 BDs party with lvl70+ people

If there is a a person more than 20 levels lower than the highest member an XP penalty is applied though i'm not sure of the numbers on that.

I believe it simply doesn't count them in the party bonus at all.

That is, if your party is 72, 65, 65, 51, 48, you'll get the XP bonus for a party of three, instead of for a party of five, as the 51 and 48 are more than 20 levels below the highest.
