Lineage II packages...

Ok, so im completely new to Lineage II, which I purchased after trying ArchLord finding it too unbearable in terms of quality and "polish"; so I thought i'd give a slightly more "developed" asian game a go.

I got Lineage II in this package: http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11144&mid=328871

And was then left wondering if I am missin anything out? I know that there are other Chronicles and that an "Epic" version of the game is to be released with all of them... I was on the understanding that the new Chronicles were simply replacements and patches.. But I have seen them refered to as expansions.. So, my question is; by buying this copy of the game, am I now missing certain areas which I need access to!?
you could instal a disk from prelude and you would be playing the same game as the rest of us (albiet after some ungodly download time). I get a new CD about every even chronicle but that's just for ease of install.
But am I right in saying that im not missing any content particularly worth having?

(As I have a friend who is about to join me and I want to advise him on the right choice of purchase!)
No real content. I mean i bet the epic collectiobn has some cool design art or something with it but the game is the same no matter what you get. The only difference will be how long you have to spend updating.
Epic collection is up to date, there will just be less updating.

You can also download the whole client off fileplanet and get a trial key from a forum member if you're joining their server and play in their clan.

Yes, you are correct.

All of the chronicles are just that, patches. If you buy the epic collection (as others have said) there will just be less downloading).

or... if someone gave you a disk that they've had when the game first came out then you would have A LOT of downloading.

But int then end... you'd be playing the same game.

And yes, this game as a lot more polish than Archlord in many many ways.
Great! Thanks for the help guys! Also is there any way of giving him a "buddy" key? Or a trial key? Just for him to test 1st?
No, only clans have those and they aren't likely to give it out just for someone to test without really wanting to play. And most likely not unless they play on their server and has their playstyles.
ahh I see ;(
