What do YOU remember?

With this new update coming out that changes much of the hardcore-ness of the game, it got me thinking. What do YOU remember from 'back in the day'? ie...

I remember sitting in rivers because there was no breath gauge. Running down the river from EV to Gludio, not swimming.

Not taking falling damage.

Non-noob towns (ex: Gludio) NOT having NG soul/spirit shots.

Blessed spiritshot didn't exist at all.

Only prophets and EE's could instantly get you/themselves out of a mess.

There was no better rez than from a bishop or EE.

All healing potions were slow, HoT.

The best top level buffs still belonged to buffers, not on a scroll or in a bottle.

Top D/C weapons were omg 'where did you get that' rare. (yaksa and bonebreaker anyone?)

Any others?
when Ruins of Despair were camped beyond belief.

when Abandoned Camp was a 5 man venture.

when Cruma marsh was for 40+ only, and you got PKd on sight in anything less than C gear.

no SA's.

+3 weapons were 10m or more.

when every farmer wore manticore and a CMG

no double system window.

owning aden castle was righteously cool.

dumb "high" levels running around with trains showing off their defence and attack, only to drop their weapon and cry bug.

pkers on TI. hell, ANYONE on TI.
I remember when Gludio was "lag town".

I remember Mahum chat in the text box making me paranoid as hell, thinking they were closeby. Sometimes I miss that "in over my head" feeling.

I remember being the only Hawkeye, and people telling me that no one wanted to play a Hawkeye because they couldn't kite.
:p
Ooh no SA's I almost forgot about that.

Or even LF healer in EF (elven fortress)

Not being able to finish a quest because mobs were camped to death (such as the rat boss and devil thing in elven fortress) prior to mobs being marked "quest".

I remember when Gludio was "lag town".

lol

first time I ever ran to Gludio with my clan leader and a couple of my clannies... I approached the gates and lagged out for what seemed like 2 minutes. Inside, I had to keep looking at the ground and try to follow him to the magic shop without getting lost.

I remember looking in the distance and seeing cruma tower and saying to my clan mates "someday" :p
I did the same thing with Cruma, seeing it from EV to Gludio in the background going oooooh look at that. Still my favorite place ever.
haha I remember the first time I went to Gludio aswell, I did the exact same thing.

PKíng for the first time meant give your gear to a friend, or RUN your *** off.
I remember sitting in Elf town trying to sell a small shield and having my shop crash everyone around me because my store msg was too long. Oh and getting a pm from a GM to change it.

I remember buying a gladius and thinking it was the hottest thing around.

I remember seeing someone with a clan tag and wondering "How the hell did they get that?" That was waaaay back in CB and it was the Bacardi Bat.
I remember Crimson Binds.

And mobs that would chase you no matter how far you ran.

People training the trees into town and everyone then killing it.
Aggroing a fettered soul in DP on my lvl 20 noob and having it run after me for god knows how long

buying mats low in EV and selling them high in Gludio, back when Gludio was trade central - running to EV and back to Gludio again because the gatekeeper was so **** expensive

all the noob areas being FULL of mobs, not like now when the whole lower half of elven noob lands is completely uninhabited

Warcryers being the "quick and dirty party buffers", and not having all the prophet and SE buffs

seeing a female DE in karmian robes for the first time and taking 20+ screen shots from all sides :D
I remember when my brother and I would nickname RoD and RoA "Ruins of Farmers" and "Ruins of Botters" because you couldn't get a single free spot to do that Grim Collector quest. Also remember the quest being removed for a very long time.

I remember when level 35 hatchlings used to sell for 10 million, and that was a ton of cash. And there wasn't anything you could do with them outside of level them up like a wolf (except the wolf had better stats at the same level).
i remember setting up sell shop at EF w/ rez scrolls and healing potions

i remember wanting to make a healer JUST so i could charge for rez in EF
I remember when you could get a pickup group.

Then further back, i remember when you could get a pickup group and everyone avoided SS usage like the plague unless it was an "Oh &^%" situation.

Death Pass' name meant something... fettered soul runs anyone?
I remember going with a clan group over the hills from elf land to Cruma tower...we got attacked by a single stakato and we could barely hurt it...it started cutting us down and we ran like we had a raidboss on our rear....it was so funny, we were all scared by this scary looking "uber monster" (this was the very beginning and we all had mediocre no-grade gear on).

Those were the days.

seeing a female DE in karmian robes for the first time and taking 20+ screen shots from all sides :D

:D :D :D :D
- Nukers doing AOE poison un cruma 1st floor with 100000 portas and kratos golems from 3+ rooms.

- Setting up a shop to sell no-grade shots un Gludio that I got running back and forth to EV.

- Being at school and actually having enougth time to play ;(

I remember buying a gladius and thinking it was the hottest thing around.

For sure. I got a Gladius off a red, and I already had a Hunting Bow and Bronze armor. I thought Bronze on human females was made of sex and win, and I thought I had to be the second or third baddest mother on the whole server.

I remember when Chaos Week was an actual week. Oh, snap (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f321/venjix/Veedub.gif)!
Nah, I'ma juss keeding. I keed because I love.
I remember when Ruins of Agony were called Ruins of Sorrow :)

When the LEV big trees were called Ti Mi Tran.

Saving a SOE for special occasions because they were like 1k in the store and that was OMG so much money.
I remember certain mountains that could be walked over... yet others that resulted in a permanent state of walking in mid air until you soe.

I remember the bad/ inconsistant translation between npcs and quests/ items. Quest says kill Nephityrs... when they are called Keltirs. Quest says hunt Imp Elders... when in fact you had to kill Imp Ribes. Quest says hunt hunt Breka Orc Chieftans... when only Overlords drop the items. Quest says find Ti Mi Riran... when you are supposed to talk to a Blight Treant. Fun times.

I remember when you can make trains of slow moving mobs ( like liriens ) and aoe them for mad exp/ sp. Hell... I remember when there where slow moving mobs. Now they cast spells, have mad resistance, and run faster than you do. Man... running away from mobs.... good times.

I remembered when Pking was serious buisness. Sin eater and the 1-5 pks = no drop crap didn't exist.

I remember when people had to very work hard for adena and equipment. The newbie benefits and these events have spoiled new players... seriously.

I remember when weapons didn't use SS/SPS until they costed 60k.

I remember when there was no Blessed Spirit Shots.

I remember the times before tatoos and Acumen weapons.

I remember when Fettered Souls where aggro. I really did love those little guys.

I remember when Orfen was 100 feet tall and scared the piss out of me.

I remember the time where veryone on the server looked like they where wearing Salamander Skin armour.

I remember when BSOEs only dropped during events... making their usage rare.
Oooh the ribe mobs, I remember running into dryads, then deep in the LEV forest (where there are no mobs anywhere now) and finding dryad ribe.

I remember hunting the hook spider for ages because it dropped a "bow of forest". Never got one though, but they went for 100k, that was like being a millionaire.
i left the game once, early C1. had a dwarf level 24 with a tarbar. no armor, i left cause i couldnt afford armor.

came back cause i wanted to give away the tarbar and be nice.

look at me now :p
I remember back when Oren was the furthest away you could get. I remember looking at the map and thinking about how cool that place must be to be so far away and that it would take forever to walk there.

I remember running my first trip to Giran, agro'ed a skeleton archer right outside town which oneshot me and I dropped :( But it was so worth it, Giran was like [censored] COOL!
I remember when Death Pass was a barren land and it just ended. The only mobs there were medusa and wyrms. That was even scarier than the fettered souls.
Oh yeah, Oren was always there though, even in Prelude, but Dragon Valley was just a greyed out mass, there was nothing east or south of Giran either.

Oh and no castle sieges either. (not that anyone could do it in Prelude)
Heh, I remember I had a level 1 elf whose sole purpose was to make trips to the faraway Giran to check the market, because the aggros on the road were dark red and the gatekeeper was so expensive.
holding down the SS button and getting hand cramps.

holding down the SS button and getting hand cramps.

Oh hell yeah...forgot about that. Bad bad bad stuff.
Riding the boat from the mainland to TI and back, while meeting many crazies on it. Esspecially running to the boat just right before it takes departs, and then missing it! :(

Running from Gludio to Gludin and being scared for my life, mobs trying to agro me from the road.

A level 20 raid boss, and failing with 15 level 14ish players.

Chaotic Dark Elf Daggers.

Lotsa people, stong sense of community.

That "magic noobiness" feel, of going to a new place.

Dropping your map in the middle of nowhere without a SOE!

Good times, good times.
I remember doing the wolf quest 3 times before getting it right, then having the wolf die immediately, and not knowing how to rez him.

I remember being scared to go into the DE swamps.

I remember being in mismatched gear (loaner brig bottom, and mithril top)

I remember when spamming soulshots wasn't the norm.

I remember when exping in cruma tower inevitably turned into farmer PvP.

-Remember when farmers were aggressive and were all daggers? Rang Rang anyone?
When BW heavy was a sickly khaki green on human mage females, and the robes looked like Cursed.
riding the boat from TI to mainland and crashing. yea that was awesome.

also looking at devotion set on TI and being like "WOW I am never going to get that".
Being terrified of the aggro maraku werewolf chieftans in orc land. I was truely scared of them, because they looked so mean. The mushrooms were really scary too.

Jumping into the water in northern Elmore, just to see if I could swim. I couldn't, and drowned miserably.

Falling down on the ice in Frozen Waterfalls, only to get ambushed by hordes of werewolves and spiders.

Heh, I remember I had a level 1 elf whose sole purpose was to make trips to the faraway Giran to check the market

Was his name elf3? because when i started the game, i asked him if he could show me around, and he said he was going to Giran. I said "hey im up for an adventure lets go!"
Boy was I in for it.
He wanted to take a shortcut through cruma marshlands. With the aggro grim reapers. Mind you i was lvl 3.
Yeah...followed elf3 all the way to Giran, enduring blistering winds and scorching deserts, to find out he was some high levels alt who was just there to check the market from time to time and logged.

Was funny, after a high level person helped me get back, she told me to stay in the newb lands till i was like at least 12.
Next day went like this:
At Gludio Castle...
Me: Hey this is awesome, can i help you guys with the seige?
Clan Leader: Who are you? and how the hell did you get in the throne room?

Oh yeah, those were the days.

Clan Leader: Who are you? and how the hell did you get in the throne room?

LOL :D (rl lol)
I remember swimming from TI to Gludin because I wasn't about to pony up obscene prices to teleport or even the boat when I could just find the area where the water parted in the middle of the ocean. Then I would /loc until I was within range of Gludin, and scroll out. When they eventually filled that part of the ocean in for Chronicle 2, I could still swim all the way across safely with a kiss of Eva and a haste potion. :D

I remember setting out with a party for the sole purpose of sightseeing. We wanted to see Oren and the Enchanted Valley. I remember thinking Leto Lizards were the most badass monsters I'd ever seen, and my entire party getting wiped out in the EV by a Satyr.
I remember each time I was running to another town further then Gludin I was so incredibly scared I'd get aggroed.

I remember grouping in the DE swamps and everyone running for their lives if they saw a glimps of the blood red trees there, those aggro trees made it so exciting :).

I remember big groups of people trying to kill the Kat summon of the NPC summoner on Talking Island and getting their *** kicked.

I remember Elven Ruins being incredibly hard and taking turns in groups to get the last hit on the orc for the sword quest.

I remember there was a big rumor that if you got on the boat without a ticket, a mob would appear and kill you and that a group of people had actually killed him once.

I remember always everyone crashing on the boat and just hoping you crashed late enough and left your computer on long enough to just make it to the other side.

I also remember the music on the boat so making it worth the journey.

I remember running from Gludin all the way to Oren at lvl 17 because I wanted to explore and especially see what was in Deathpass, because it sounded so dangerous and exciting.

I remember it taking absolutely ages to level from late 1x to lvl 24.

I remember leveling in Cruma Tower from lvl 24 or something till 39. I died soo many times before lvl 30 that I was often geting minus exp :D.

I also remember up till lvl 39 playing a healer in cruma tower about 90% of the time because there were no others and I could keep my mana up with body to mind and always apologizing for accidentally corpse life draining a spoiled mob :D

I remember having a cursed set for most of my 3x's and everyone saying "Hey what's that sewt? That's really cool :D"

I remember the beefs with the farmers and the luck if you actually got a room there.

I remember mages always aggroing those **** cats which names I can't remember and when I did running around like crazy shoutin help ^^.

I remember having a lvl 42-44 sorc in our team in cruma once and she was doing so much damage with one spell, I was like wow I'm never going tp do that much damage.

I remember doing raids on the Ant Queen and Orfen and us failing so badly.

I remember having a Sword of revolution as my weapon in my late 3x's and later double ones, just because I thought they looked cool.

I also remember gludio being lag town and the center and giran being practically extinct.

I remember actually buying off and selling your equipment to other players all the way from lvl 1.

I remember Fethered Souls would even scare my Sorc after lvl 50 because they could still kill me :S.

What I remember and miss most is, what another poster has said in an earlier post, that "new" and exploration felling Lineage 2 gave me combined with that real community feeling. I haven't found that in any other MMORPG and I so hope it will come back in Lineage 3.

I remember mages always aggroing those **** cats which names I can't remember and when I did running around like crazy shoutin help ^^.

"SNIIIIPES!!!!"

:D

Good times.
I remember running through Death Pass and being very scared not to get aggro from a Wyrm, or even worse = Nakondas

I remember I barely had enough adena's to buy me 3k of D BSPS

I remember how I didnt know about automated shots

I remember of being very proud of crafting my own Karmian set and investing all my money into it

I remember prices of EWD being 230k

I remember Wasteland being giving me a lot of deaths

I remember dropping my map and not finding the road home to Dark Elven town again (c2)

I remember looking at the map and thinking Id never see Aden

I remember the well know PK'ers around Gludio and Gludin
I remember soloing and killing Nakondis (sp?) on my EE in her very early 40's, with a Crystal Dagger a friend lent me. I was amazed I did it. Some guy who was watching said "nice job" after I killed it and it's three minions.

I remember not knowing about shots until my early 30's.

I remember watching a friend aggro a Pixy and him running from it for more then 10 mins.

I remember wearing Magic stockings, and a Mystic tunic for quite some time. Made a very ugly combination LOL

Going into Cruma for the first time at lvl 32, and dieing less then 5 mins in. Never went back in until I was lvl 37 or so. I didn't spend a lot of time in Cruma Tower oddly, but I was lvling in the Cruma marshes until atleast lvl 40.

Also, the party slot was only 8 if I remember, and hotbar was only set up from F1-F10.

I remember mobs having an MP bar.
I remember being so proud of me that I bought Feriotic tunic and stockings ... maaaan that looked hot on my DE mystic :)

Also running to Gludio, because they sell Willow staff for 45k instead of 60k in shop. Then stashed it to warehouse, because when something aggro me on the way back I may drop it.

Doing 'shroom and zombie quest ad infinitum to save for that staff ...

Died when used SOE for the first time while escaping few aggroed goblins and orcs - I thought it will instantly port me somewhere.

I felt so miserable when someone PKed me to punish me because "I agroed that salamander in RoD" - hell, I did not agro it, I was just healing party (that was saving someone's *** from that salamander) and mobs were sooooo addicted to healers.

When Innadril area was added, and Heine town had absolutely no map. Everybody got lost there instantly.

When manor gave 2 rewards at once - I remember getting skins and SOP or stems and potions or so.

Animal bones for 100, stems were priceless.

SP grind for clanleaders - 1.5 mil SP in 3x-4x was real grind.
most of my memories have to do with making money:

i remember doing endless runs along the ocean floor ti->gludin->ti to sell rez scrolls to new people. occasionally giving soe to people who had done the run and trapped themselves in the ocean.

i remember buying brig helms for 250k and reselling for 400k and thinking that i was making oodles of cash and i was going to be rich beyond my wildest dreams.

i remember hitting the million adena cash mark for the first time and having the theme song from "the jeffersons" run through my head :)
Windwalking Krators.

(and snipes, if we got really bored.)
I remember my first time running towards Abandoned coal mines and hearing someone shout "I just got coal!". I thought "cool I can mine in this game" :)

Wondering how can I talk in orange chat (=Shout).

Having looong discussions about various topics in Dwarven village with total strangers.

Running from Gludio to Death Pass when doing my class change quest (scavenger). Haven't been so scared since.

Selling my Wooden armor set for 18k! I was rich! :)

Selling charcoal for 4k each in Dion when hatchling quest appeared.

DE in manticore with CMG.

Killing the Succubus Queen in Mithril Mines.

When Alt Gr would toggle force attack on/off.

Waiting for a group in CT 2 to take me to the box.

Getting mad to a farmer because he picked up steel mold recipe that I dropped. I ended up training him out of AC.

(Chinese) farmers that were actually humans playing.

Using bows when they didn't eat up 10 ss/shot.

Being 25 and getting a Tomahawk.

Being 27 and getting Scale Gaiters and Scale Mail.
*cry* i want these times back prelude and c1 where best . i would still play if the game deve, lopment had not gone any further from there. Oh well....but who listens us anyway. Now i have to dualbox and grind solo.Because of ebay and other issues i am not allowed to talk here.
i recall in C3 when i first started that i just did not understand the meaning of SS and refused to use them like i still do +-
I remember being sole healer/buffer in Cruma starting at 30, stayed until 48. I could pull aggro for the entire room with one group heal, and often did it on purpose to kite the krators around.

Seeing a fungus flash blue and thinking what the heck is that???

When sniped spawned it was deadly business to ignore them.

Dying in elven fortress and getting a rez from a skill (human cleric), I thought she was the most godly looking thing ever.

Seeing my first ever crystallized ice bow and thinking that person was crazy insane rich to buy that.
i actually thought spiritshots were what made that little sparkle thingy happen before a dwarf hit a mob.

i also thought that spiritshots were exclusive to dwarfs.
The thing is, making the game more playable is always more desirable.

However, I think that some of NC's decisions went the other way. I personally am not fretting about this patch. However,

It was ok that you had to run to Antharas' cave! That was part of the fun. Now I just port there. No big whoop.

It was ok that some of the old mobs were aggro and that they were close to the road. Made it sort of dangerous. That was fun.

Also, the low lvls used to be fun. It's a shame that they are now rushed through.
my best memories come from Cruma tower =)
Having a need for most if not all classes.
! CT GLF Tank !!!

! jode: MEE !!!!

and back when in a C1 grp you got 2k xp per mob and thinking that ..... I am the luckiest Elf ever ^.^

and finaly .........ALOT LESS DRAMA !!!!!!!!! Xp was Xp in Ct even if you were Seging their Castle the next day they would stil lgrp ya caus they needed ya =)
I remember the first time I tried soulshots, addicted ever since. Standing in CT for hours "!DD/Tank LFG". Then once you got a group only a matter of time before another came running in yelling "OMG SNIPES HELP!!!1!1!!" and you all died. The first time in Giran...all those people WOW! Standing in DVC once again "!DD LFG" and you'd always get the pm's "you a dagger? cuz we aren't coming to get you". Dying 150 times in my first siege cuz it was the most fun ever! Then after spending days LFG rerolling a nuker so I could solo...
No one has mentioned the time that reds could live in, and respawn in, the newbie towns, bottling up the exits, while abusing the Lucky Skill. (Sentinels and Floran-respawns solved that situation.) And with no breath guage, reds could hide under the Elven Village, in the water.

I remember amassing my first 100k to buy a forest bow, running to Gludio and then Dion, both of which were crowded with player shops, but none selling the bow. I sadly ran all the way back to the lirien area of the Elven Forrest, and found a player along that lonely road shouting out WTS: Forrest Bow. (He was on his way to Gludio to buy a super-uber Composition Bow!) I also remember being a bit disappointed that the 100k forest bow looked just like the 847a short bow.
Oh i remember that, petitioning GM's because players pulled the elven guards under the town in the water, and they wouldn't return unless someone moved them.
I remember a raid I was invited to at level 35 to get a Proof of Blood. It took several days of planning to get everybody organized. We took 2 full parties with us (almost everybody was in their 30's). It was all we could do to take down the Bloody Queen. Back then, it was a semi-rare drop and it took about an hour to get it to finally drop.

I remember having to share rooms in the Elven Ruins because it was so crowded.
I remember the busy times at home, when you had to fight others for a single keltir. And the long, long lines to face the messenger.
I remember shooting mobs with something called Hub Scent instead of bone arrows.
I remember running under rivers as well. It was one of my first "well that's kinda stupid.." things about this game.

I remember running *in a straight line* *through* a room in SoDA, having a DE named "AKHERO" go "USA PLZ GO OUT", bleeding me, and dying to a skeleton while sitting with 0-1 hp.
Remeber that there were a dame skeleton archer that spawned just outside of Giran that allways started to shoot at me when i was running past.
Allways had to hope that there were a friendly sole in the town that could kill it for me
I remember.....

PvPing Farmers who would just respawn at the same position b/c of the exploit.

PvPing Farmers where they would just hit and run hit and run and hope that you kill them as they turned white. (No flashing purple) Ending up pking some of them b/c of that.

Farmers trade spamming me until I moved spots....for those that don't know this used to stop players from picking up drops and eventually a window would get lost and you couldn't do anything but restart to clear it.

Wolves = Bigger Warehouse

No Sleep for Nukers

No Blessed Spirits

Poison killing Golems in the Wastelands.

Running Everywhere b/c it was free.

SS and SPS used for the Emergencies not for everyday leveling. (Repeat I know but it is important)

DE Mushroom quest...Followed by the Orc Quest then to town...rinse and repeat.

Pick-up groups.

Trading a map to someone who didn't have one then getting them to trade it back while still having it viewable on their screen.

That is about all i can think of..

Running Everywhere b/c it was free.

it still is.
SISH tell no one

I'll rephrase it...

B/c it was Free and Not Many had surplus adena to spend on meaningless teleports.
I remember never wearing jewelry because almost nothing nuked. They certainly didn't infinite spam magic attacks.

I remember hub scents.. lol, figured someone would remember that.

I remember when a knight shield was golden and an elven sword looked exactly like a knight sword.

I remember when the crimson sword was crimson.

I remember when mithril boots were D grade and they matched the mithril heavy set perfectly. (they are C now but the rec and parts will drop/spoil off D grade mobs).

I remember when non set items like paradia boots and grace gloves dropped in Cruma. (I still have a paradia boots rec).
Dropping my Wooden helmet to a mob in RoD and crying about it for days.

Getting my sword breaker from a friend that i still play with.

I thought i was the total [censored].

Not knowing that the flashing white thing was that i saw some guy use before he hit a mob.

Doing the spore quest 230482904839048390 times.

Doing the spore quest 230482904839048390 times.

OMG! You Too!

One saturday, my Clan Leader and I spent the ENTIRE DAY doing that quest and the Spider Quest.

Only way to make any money and I was saving for a Journeyman's Staff :)
I remember when we used to drop items on death. ;)

Doing the spore quest 230482904839048390 times.

OMG! You Too!

Only way to make any money and I was saving for a Journeyman's Staff :)

300,000k/2,500 adena per spore quest = 120 times.

= Brig top :).

I remember when we used to drop items on death. ;)

i remember risking equipped weapon drops on death.

and that wasnt even when red!
I remember feeling like the most badass person on TI. I knew everyone's name. I remember helping noobs, even though I was a total noob too.

I remember that I never used a soulshot until right before C3 came out.

I remember getting buffs by anyone above level 25 was godly.

I remember when it was !LFG Ant Nest and not !LFG HC.

I remember seeing that level 25 raid boss on the triangle piece of land near OB that looked like a Dre Vanul, thinking to myself that I will kill him one day.... (never have)

I remember PvPing people for the Library in ER.
I remember when Talking Island was a friggin battlefield, with people PVPing and PKing eachother everywhere.
After i managed to kill someone who attacked me, i found out that he was an alt character who belonged to a REALLY big alliance, and he was angry that i killed him.

Few minutes later there was some clan leader shouting LF ROMARON, PM ME!!!

I'm not sure what they were thinking, but i think it was a little much to send a frikin WYVERN and a platoon of STRIDERS to maul a lvl 15 elf fighter.
I dont know how the hell i made it to the ferry boat...
~ Becoming the first gladiator I knew.
~ Being the only gladiator in light armor :p
~ Leveling from 1-43 wearing mismatched light armor and equiped with just a single-hand sword (no shield).
~ Being the only one wearing a mithril banded top. :D
~ Hunting just outside Gludio for several hours (before the adena drop increase) just to upgrade my shirt
~ Using a saber before the texture change
~ Showing up to the wrong siege (One man Oren raid) XD
Not having maps of the cities and everyone asking in shout

!where is the warehouse?

Specially in lag town Gludio where the warehouse entrance is hidden form the "street"

Succesfully making 280 complete skeletons and huge amounts of livers/ribs/etc (which al looked like a pouch) for the Grim Collector quest in gludio....stupid Varsek blew like 300 skeletons. Either way I could aford mi new saber...yay!! (At lvl 26)

I remember seeing lots and lots of elpys....specially north exit of gludin.

Giran arena being full....
I remember careing about what my toon looked like. Now it is all about utility. I must admit I did spring for an eyepatch
Doing the 'shroom, zombie, spider quests in DEV long enough to get a bastard sword. :(

My first pvp being against a dagger that didn't know what UD was. Silly farmer.

The wars between the dark elves and the light elves at the end of open beta.

Thinking it would take FOREVER to save enough money for a Sword of Revolution.
Listening to mini boss shouts in RoA, EG, etc.

Remembering when the unicorns around LE lands weren't quest mobs and would mop the floor with even several level 13's. Going back and finally owning one at a higher level.

Getting ported for the first time in C2 from the pernums (I think?) in Cruma and exclaming WTH WAS THAT??
Oh yes the mini boss from TI (the pirate one) was cool to lvl up with when he was green :)

I'm not sure what they were thinking, but i think it was a little much to send a frikin WYVERN and a platoon of STRIDERS to maul a lvl 15 elf fighter.

Lol that's very funny.

I don't remember any of these and it's a really interesting read. I've missed out on a lot of experiences. I didn't start playing until Chron 4 :(
I remember the reds in EV as well, bottlenecking the exits and trying to kill off all the lowbies. I remember the one in particular who was axing anyone walking out of town, and having him drop his elemental gloves right in front of me just before I exited. I picked them up and he immediately threatened to "pk me back to 1" if I didn't give them back. My response? "Well if ur gonna be mean about it..I'm already level 1! Ciao~" :) He gave me my start on the road to riches. I also remember thinking how he must be level 100 to be able to wear something that was B-grade. Thanks random red dude!

Remeber that there were a dame skeleton archer that spawned just outside of Giran that allways started to shoot at me when i was running past.

lol yes, that was a personal friend of me, too :D

I remember the trees in EG being slow and easy to kill with disrupt undead. Spent a lot of time there with my SO.

I remember when treasure chests were put into the game. I hit the first one I saw, and it one-shotted my poor little human mystic :(

I remember Ruins of Despair being full of players, with buffers sitting at the entrance stairs and people grouping up to kill the Soul Scavenger because he was in the way somewhere. Oh, and how frightened I always was when the Soul Scavenger came back and you could read his shouts :) ("where is he? where is he?")
I remember being super noobish around level 10 and seeing a char named BlackStone (human male mage) wearing some black and goldish robes (demon perhaps) and thinking it was a GM.
A cleric level 36 was trying class change quest to become a PP. He was quite poorly equipped and had no tank helping him. He had to kill Lava Salamander at Forgotten Temple but he got killed many times even before approaching to the target. An Idea came to him. He logged in just after server maintenance when still no mobs appear in the dungeon. He rushed to the spot and got quest item finally.
well, if you were on bartz...

you can remember the time when " BERSERK4LIFE.COM " was a KOS phrase. Either that, it meant that you were going to die, or had already been PK'd by one of my old clan from bartz...probably edgemaniac or ozoz :)

if u can remember that from bartz, ur my hero...just don't pk my SE :'(
Using a wooden set til lvl 25 on a Raider for the hp bonus...
Farmer wars in CT, and having to run away because the protector was an SR with plated leather and one of the first emi bows.
Running from gludin to giran on an unbuffed Orc! I died and dropped my Brig top and had just enough to get a new one, but everyone in gludio/dion was way overpriced.
I remember after shops sold out and shop keepers automatically stood up. If they do this now you know they're using performance enhancing programs.
haha ^^

I remember I played with my BF. He was a Elven Oracle and me a Dark Fighter (woo <3 Ashka since forever hehe). The day I got my UD, the 1st thing we did was run to EV and kill ALL unis we could find, haha!

Then, when my bf was working for this Elven Elder quest, the first NPC told him that the unicorns were priceless for the elves, cause they were the most precious creatures for their God, Eva. Haha, the look on his face was priceless =D I could actually imagine the perfect face his elf would have done, haha
I remember getting a pair of blue buckskin boots and being sad they weren't even close to blue.

Farming the ol mahum generals in AC because they dropped bastard swords, which sold for 700k and I'd be set for life.
I remember seeing gludio castle, but it wasn't on the map, and wondering of how I could get one for myself.

I remember on my dark wizard going to the wastelands when I got aoe poison/flame strike and gathering like 30 of those golems and aoe'ing them all down when they were blood red.

I remember when my clan on devianne would accept money to do things(bh's would gather mats, nukers/buffers would help people lvl etc.), and i'd take money to pk people. Since it was c1 and no-one ever wore jewels, I would put all of my gear in the wh, bring out silhouette, and 2-3 shot some random guy for a free 100k, once i even getting a bonus 50k just 'cause i got ganked by his party lol (mind you I thought that was a LOT of money when i was lvl 25)

I remember going into the de swamp with a few other people at lvl 10ish, and accidentally hitting one of those lvl 40 trees. out of the 4-6 of us, i was the only one to not die :D

I remember pkers being everywhere, and having to use hills and trees to sneak by to get to my lvling grounds.
I remember UD not making you look like a giant glow bug so people didn't always know to run away until it wore off ><
C3 just 2 weeks after it was released.......

Coming home and my son telling me that he had decided to enchant his SOR......to +9!

Being completely broke on 2 characters (rat used my adena too), with a +9 SOR and zip for armor!

The look on his face when he found out that it could have turned into crystals! (he didn't know about the "beyond +3 risk")

The curses he still uses on me to this day because, since I told him about the risks on enchanting, he has never been able to enchant anything again beyond +4, and seldom makes it passed +3!

Everyone saying "OMG where did you get that?!!!" the first time they saw that +9SOR!
Someone else mentionned it, but having to buy World Maps... and you could drop it! As a noob in a land PACKED with mobs you were in trouble.

People carrying tons of Wolrd Maps because they didn't weigh anything and reduced the chance you might drop something important.

Just starting in open beta and it taking my friend and I like 3 months to get to level 17.

Struggling just to get some adena together so you could afford the next most powerful weapon. That took forever.

Getting twinked for the first time. A big Orc who I knew was 26 ([censored]) decided he was leaving the game. He gave me his Tarbar and 1.3m!!! I almost cried. I shared it among all my friends to upgrade our gear.

Exploring new lands and not knowing what was agro and what wasn't. Seeing the most wicked looking mob ever, the Fettered Soul, nicknaming them "Uncle Fester", and running like hell when you agroed one.

Going to the Wasteland for the first time with a group of 5 and getting absolutely destroyed.

Having a Light Elf Oracle in Mithril Robes, but not the full set (are you kidding?), and thinking Root n' Shoot with a Gastra was the best thing ever. I though I ruled the Orc Barracks.

Top-d grade weapons and armor being craft only, and actually seeing one just made your jaw drop.

It was the coolest thing ever when a friend got a Bastard Sword! Then he had it scammed off of him 20 minutes later. He quit the game and never came back.

A guy in our group was a freakin' GOD because he had the Prima Guide. Quest guides, drop info... it was the bible.

Getting an email from my friend saying "Hey man, I'm thinking of checking this out." Beta Sign-Up (http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/7008/betaux7.jpg) Life was never the same...
When stockings were called "hose" as in Mithril Hose instead of Mithril Stockings.
i remember everyone laughed at necromancer.
In CB, if you start a bow special, you can hit esc to cancel it, the cool part was that you actually see the arrow in one hand and your bow in another. And, the next time you use the special, it will go off instantly!
After much grinding, finally saved around 100k, bought a sword of reflection from a shop (because it was cheap) and finding out that it looked just like the noob short sword :(
Thinking I was a bad *** when I was mid 30 with brig armor and a tarbar, then barely surviving an attack from those **** fettered soul.
And most of all, when playing a dwarf was fun.
Does anyone remember the Elven robe set?

There was a lot of debate that the mithril set was the elven set. However, it actually existed (exists?).

A few people had them and they were very rare. Not anything to really write home about but I did see someone selling the whole set once so I bought it as a keepsake.

However, months after that, I needed D crystals and just crushed them as I had forgotten about them and thougth, well.. no big deal, if I see them again I'll buy them again.

Never saw them again :(

I also remember as a lvl 5, meeting a lvl 24 and thinking he was god.

I also remember as a lvl 5, meeting a lvl 24 and thinking he was god.

I still am.

Level 24, that is.

I remeber when as a noob this super high lvl came and gave me 200K for just minding my business and me thinking OMG im a millionaire

I remeber taking my new mage staff into AC thinking I was uber and getting wtf owned by mobs

I remeber the billions of world maps I had cause every red filled up their inventory with them to avoid droping

I remeber my 093458304958304958 deaths in CT, when snipes were death

I remeber meeting SWE and thinking omg her alt is as high as my main?

I remeber pwning farmer daggers on my sh after we got sleep (they always flagged first^^)

I've done this (after observing them for a bit) and some will just stand there. I've often wondered what was going through their minds...

I remeber meeting SWE and thinking omg her alt is as high as my main?

I think her alt's alt is higher than my main...

You will always be the uber high lvl in my book :o :o :o

Now what do I owe u with interest? :p :p

pwned by treasure chests

hehehe, yes - I remember when they used to blow up and wipe out everyone standing within 20 feet.

~M~

Me too. Asploding chest = death number 3,621 in GoE for young Elro. Oh, and it was a clanmate that shot it. Young Elro died more from clanmates than mobs. I never could figure out why...

Nothing... your success is my "interest". ;)
Could you please take some interest in my success?
Boy does that sound familiar.
Except we were in Devils Isle...
2 full parties, and some goober hits a chest.
I think there were about 10-11 instant deaths.
And as always, someone just had to lose their gaiters.
;)

~M~
I remember the elven set, spoiled the stockings in EG a few chronicles ago. Drop only I think, besides that spoil and super super rare.
I remember having a mage weapon called a Blue Crystal Skull, I believe. Of course it looked like a book as most mage weapons except staffs did.

I sold that weapon and have never seen one since. I wonder if it disappeared from the game or just got a name change at some point.

:>
I still have a Blue Crystal Skull book. :)
remember when gludio was the top city with so many shops that you couldnt move without lag or being stuck. there were so many shops in gludio back in the days, like todays giran or more.

those were the fun days in l2 :) when everything was still new and everyone was a beginner.

I still have a Blue Crystal Skull book. :)

Holy Krap! I guess it still looks like a book then huh? Always thought they could have put a cool design for that.

Do you remember the grade and stats on it?

thanks.

I think a blue crystal skull was D grade.

I remember when chars did not blink, when there were no dance/crying/etc animations.
I remember;

in Beta when we had Orcs vs Light Elves VS Dark Elves VS Humans...

Falling off the cliff by the starting Orc town into the water and having to email the Admin's to pull your character out and back up on to land.
On a sad note when events were events, RIP
Doing the spore quest for 2k each time in DE village, all night long to the weee hours of the morning, I did that quest just to afford bronze breastplate and gaitors.
Its d-grade and has the same stats as demon fangs
I remember when I actually had my screenies from CB, OB, Prelude, etc... until NCSoft screwed up and deleted the sytem folder. :(
Does anyone else remember when blazing swamp was called "Blazing Swamp" but was actually a very shallow pond?

And I mean "just a pond". No fire, no hills, no tree.

Just a pond. :p
ahhh those were the days
hearing a soul shot for the very 1st time.....

PIzzzoooommM!!!

Going to cruma at lvl 15 with a few friends, getting one shotted by a spider. We then ran back and managed to get in to the tower, the place was deserted since we were some of the 1st people to ever go there. We pulled a porta (when they didn't have the port skill) and had one person run arround while the others beat on it. It took us 15 mins per porta but it was so cool at the time.

When my m8 got a comp bow and started one shotting the mobs i was lvling off and thinking how cool he was.

The legend of Fisheh from tiwan open beta, even the tiwanese were scared of him :P (he was the 1st assasin in tiwan open beta xD)

Setting up PvP arena's with money!!

Man i want L3 so i can get the noobish feelings back again >.<
When the boat from Talking Island was filled with people and we all chatted for 20 minuttes instead of going afk (Not that I even take the boat now ><)

Pirate Captain Utanka!! R.I.P :[
i remember getting a dwarven mace drop and being wow thats a great drop...

i remember wearing light armor cause it had a mp bonus till 30... and i was a dwarf..

i remember crafting a BoF (bow of forest)

i remember getting my first dg weapon crafted... then i used it for a bit... crunched it and made ss...
with profit from that bought the 1mil wep and repeat...

i remember being able to buy a 400k dg wep from somewhere other than the store...

i remember immobilizing myself with soulshot...

heh i even remember buying bone for 30k in gludio after making trip from dwarven village
ishka (sp?)runs in giran.
aggro fettered souls aka binding man
exploring the new area, enchanted valley the night it was released, I was like 20ish.
SS usage was for the tanks to keep aggro, and the grp shared his costs.
My first craft, a crystaliced icebow, and the dissepoinment when the dwarf just said, here it is... I was like what!! no fireworks no flashing lights and trumpets??! I worked like a dog for all thouse mats.
I remember scammers saying they could OE NG weapons in elven village, telling people to hand it over so they could enchant it. I had no idea that was impossible since putting enchants on anything was basically unheard of at the time.
I remember taking 7 or 8 people to kill a bloody queen for the proof of blood and actually having a hard time killing one...

I remember when C-grade was considered to be the uber gear and level 52 made you a killing machine...

I remember when it took a party to handle fettered souls and EV and FoM were death sentences for most guys....

I remember when you had to fight for rooms in Cruma...

I remember when castle sieges had almost a complete server turnout to either participate or just watch....everyone usually died...

I remember when McDonald's used to have alot more characters like Mayor McCheese, Captain Crook, the Fry Guys, the Big Mac policeman, and Grimace used to be called Evil Grimace.

Da Smookster...
I remember when siege meant breaking the doors and seeing dozens (hundreds) bottlenecking behind the door. Walls couldn't be attacked by any means.
I remember dying on purpose at a siege or asking allies to kill me because I would respawn with 3/4ths mp. Two healers fighting took like 5 mins to take each other out though ;)
Found it, thanks to Ellie!

So.. as she says in her first post, what do YOU remember?

As I've said, I loved selling shots in random places and being trained by anyone I was under-cutting. Loved having fun with the mages AoE glitching the Bezerkers in EG... a whole room full of Portas AoE... to name but a few.
Heh I'm a C4 child, so I don't remember all of the beginning periods...

But I do remember my first attempt to the game, doing the first lvl 20 quest and walking from Gludio to Gludin cause I had no idea SoE's even existed.

Oh and doing the SoE to Giran quest, and getting myself to Giran and having no clue where the NPC was so I could go back :)

Oh and dropping my Kite Shield (I still have it, it's incredible) after someone PK'ed me and being completely DESPERATE because I had no money to afford another one :)
I remember selling all my quest itens ("honey") to buy my fisrt nongrade set (mitril I think).

I remember when I figure out what soul shots was for.

I remember I had a Dagger, a Sword and a Bow and I created a Macro: Power Shot, Mortal blow, Power strike and Attack. And sit for minutes to get my MP back and start hunting again.

I remember get very, very disapointed to spend SP to learn Shadow Sense and not see any real increase in battle ability.

I remember walking all the way to gludio for my Palus Knight quest.

I remember hear from an old player: "Man, ur awesome" by killing spiders faster them him at School of Dark Art, with a Gladius.

I remember thinking "wtf is this Agression skill? I dont wannt mobs on me.. jeez what a stupid skill".

I remember soloing using UD first time with small version of Raid Bosses... Oh man that was just amazing.. the fear, the adrenaline. Suddentlly all mobs on me and almost no HP down, shouting "Die Die!!!".

I remember not believing my Clan leader when he said: "Chaos, that Raid Boss need a party to be killed. Doesnt metter if he is white to you".

... all good times.

Chaos
I remember when the reds were actually cool. Yeah, they'd gank you out of nowhere but at least they added some thrill to the grind. Most were actually cool when you chatted with them. Some would actually leave you alone once they knew you were cool with it.
I remember Dark Elf Village filled with shops and players selling low lvl stuff.

I remember players running from Dark elf villlage with NG shots to sell in Gludio. I rememember when there weren't blessed shots.

I remember the mobs so thick and close to the road that there was a chance you couldn't pass.

I remember real "farmers", rang rang

I remember entering Gludio for the first time, we were following our clan leader, we couldn't immediately enter because the lag was so great.

I remember going to Giran for the first time to buy a goat head staff and there were 3 people there, no shops

I remember gludin packed and the arena there was filled with people

I remember shops in Cruma Tower.

I remember when quest mobs didn't have a name over them that said "Quest Monster"

I remember aggro fettered souls that were so tough that if you had 2 on you that was it, you would most likely be dead. I sometimes would see people running for their lives with four.

I remember you had to run to Antharas Lair

I remember reds camping out Talking Island and players begging for other higher lvl players to come and keep the area safe so that they could lvl.

I remember attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die ;)
Ah, good memories!

I remember when Elf village and DE village were packed with people, and the villages used to raid each other and try to kill everyone.

I remember when soulshots couldn't be toggled to auto, but had to be used manually.

I remember when travelling to far away Giran was a dangerous and time consuming adventure.

I remember when Shackles were aggressive and scary as hell!

I remember when I could finally afford a tarbar and brig armor, and feeling like the coolest guy in town :D

I remember attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die ;)

"I want more life, jerk!" (paraphrased).
I remember being really upset when I dropped my Wooden BP and Gaiters in one death to a PKer.

I remember when Agility was a BUFF and not a wasted slot.

I remember when Dragon Valley parties were SERIOUS O_O

I remember when everyone quit after open beta and dropped their gear on the ground in gludio.

When you dropped your map and had to remember which way to go based on the landscape....I still make my way around w/o a map most of the time!

Elven Mithril was YELLOW on dark elves = I have a sig to prove it.

PVP before BSOE - hiding and trying to make the scroll go faster with your mind.

When "RED IN ABANDONED CAMP!!!" meant that parties were formed to try to take their gear.

Partying in Partisan's Hideaway (Fortress of Resistance) with Az because it was an awesome duo spot.

Falling through the world and walking in the "wild blue" to the next town.

Aggression = Hate.

When skill rather than gear carried you from 1 to 60+

Word.
I remember being BD, level 45 in Mithril set and swinging a Gladius and i grinded for two whole days on the fettered souls hoping to get a Sword of Revolution to drop because i needed duals and couldnt afford them.

I remember picking out the BladeDancer as a class because i loved the picture above the skill list on Lineage2.com

I remember running everywhere because no way i could afford to spend money on teleports!

I remember clicking on the fishing shots every time i wanted to use them because i didnt know how to set them on toggle.

I remember seeing a male BD doing his poison blade dance and jumping in the air and god how disappointed i was when i realised the female version of the dance is sooo much different.

I remember setting shops to sell all the basic mats i got, or just selling them to the NPC shops LOL.

I remember not having a clue about manoring or spoiling.

I remember how terribly scary mobs seemed at first, especially the undead ones and how my heart raced when i was being ganked up by them.

I remember the PermaRed guy who PKed for fun and made threads about it, telling stories and being all RP and nobody was mad at him and they were actually proud to have met and fought him.

I remember the times when i thought that dualboxing meant cheating and i had no idea about all the bots and adena sellers.
lol the map when it wasnt in the UI
thinking I was the bomb when I got lvl 30
hanging out at the 3 way
pvp at angel waterfall, cruma, and fg

I remember when Dragon Valley parties were SERIOUS O_O

Not to mention that you could get to dvc heart with one party...
I remember life without CP
I remember being pk'd by a LE archer in orc land and thinking wtf
I remember people being in orc land
I remeber it took weeks to get to 20
I remember the being afraid to move from orc land but had to on my class change

I remember the first castle seige, my friend and I were to low so we went a sat on the lawn, a dawrf ran by a killed him on the seige ground. made me lol
I remember all you heard in cruma in c2 was dagger DD lfg, was a hard life being an orc
I remember using light armor and a polearm on me SO when I was leveling her in EG
I remember when SE's were all you needed :(
Great topic.

I remember being at CompUSA and having the guy talk up WOW as the best game ever. I remember picking up Lineage 2 instead, but not buying it. I would later go home, power my old IBM to play the now ancient AD&D Champions of Krynn. I remember being disappointed that I didn't pick up something more up to date. I remember going back to CompUSA that following morning, re-reading the WOW and Lineage 2 packaging...and going with Lineage 2. My very first massive online roleplaying game, and possibly my last.

I remember finally downloading from the disk only to find out that I needed to update more content online. Given that I used snailspeed modem back then, I didn't actually get to play the game until the wee morning hours. I remember being so excited at the character creation screen that my mind went blank on name ideas. I remember seeing the DE female and thinking that no matter what the rest of the content was, it was worth it just to see that!

And I remember logging in finally and prompty getting my head handed to me by a chaotic player before making it to the cave entrance of DE village. The game was afoot!

(Note: CompUSA has since closed all of it's retail stores here on the West Coast, although they still have an internet exchange. Quite a few businesses have come and gone in the years that we've been playing this game. Amazing.)

The light that burns twice as
bright burns half as long.
And you have burned so very, very brightly :)
I remember being able to shout in the entrance to Antharas Lair "Nuker with Sleep Cloud lfg" and being fought over and bribed as several groups needed one.

I remember running with 3 full parties from Oren to the Cemetary so we could kill a Bloody Queen for our Proof of Blood (they sold for millions back then). Many of us died before we got it. Our highest level was an uber 40 tank.

I remember during Open Beta my friend dropped his Cursed Tunic when he died to a Skeleton Marauder and he almost quit because he didn't have the adena to replace it.

I remember running into Giran and being the only person there.

I remember being extremely nervous handing all my mats to an unknown dwarf so he could craft my first c-grade weapon (no craft shops back then). After he made it, he equipped it and hit me with it before giving it to me.

I remember when Mold Hardeners were 200k+ each.

I remember questioning a nuker in my clan that spammed spirit-shots as being an ebayer. Nobody used shots unless it was an emergency. Until my nuker was in his 40's, he only carried 100 emergency shots.
I remember you had to scream at people to force them to use soulshot/ magic haste/attack potion while in group.

I remember dying to mob in my xp spot and droping my pant(alway the pant never the shirt), went back to town and run back out praying no one has pick up my pant. And thinking writing name of any one I met on my way back to my xp spot just incase they had pick it up.

I remember perma red and pker were so common in lower xp area that you hear shout about pk/red every 10-15min. killing a red and getting his gear is more exciting then killing a raid boss.

I remember saving enough adena then buying a lowest D grade staff for my dark elve mystic when she was lvl 18. just to do 1 damage on all mob I cried and die so many time until I know about grade penalty.

I remember seeing so many live healer/support/buffer I have parted once with 3 se and 2 pp. we had 1 se and 1 pp in heavy armor tanking- 2nd se light armor and duals as dd. we never ran out of buff or heal:) back then mystic can use root +bow and polearm was great xp back then. you actually see live healer/buffer shouting for group more then dd.

I remember when RP was strong on new server elf and de would kill each other , so did orc vs human. I remember 3 de person party in near netral zone and one member say watch out for those quick red LE, they alway pick and pk us de run if u see them or die trying. next thing I know there a arrow up my A^^ by a group of 3 red LE. I don't remember grouping with other race till I'm in my low 30's. back then group member often turn agaist you and pk you for no reason so I was afraid to group.

And last I remember, being level 11 DE mystic and and seeing so many other DE new player stuck at DE town exitsing entrance. 3 higher lvl perma red, 1 nuker, 1 archer, 1 dagger was camping outside DE town, no one had the adena to use GK so we attempt to rush (like 15-20 of us) out like mad cows to be slaughter 1-2 shoot by the perma red pker. a few actually escaped and manage to call help in gludio town. I think I die and delevled down to lvl 4 before leaving DE town.

I don't remember if raid boss has tag that say they were raid boss back in c2-c3 or just many buged monster in game. I was doing my 2nd class chnage quest to become and SE, killing ant outside the ant cave- Then there was an ant like normal ant but did not die in 2-3 windstrike- I unload 20 windstrike while kiting and it still not dead, I ran for dear life warning other player in my path that try to save me or hit the ant- well I now have a group of 13-15 player runing with me away from that monster ant that just won't die. we ran all the way healing each other from ant cave back to gludio town. I made it back to town with 90/1100hp left when the ant disappear outside the town. we warn everyone in gludio town and 4-5 group went out but never see it and they thought we made it up, we petition it but never got a good answere, but glad to say I never seen that monster ant again near ant cave ever since .
I remember people used to set up shops right outside the DE dungeon (School of Dark Art) selling resurrection scroll or escape scroll.

I remember the first few days after launch i had such a hard time finding a live Keltirs anywhere near elf town.

The endless fighting around Cruma Swamp and inside between players and those who farmed.

To get to Core one has to train all of the mobs on 3rd floor down through that tunnel(or.. err big hole) and immediately talk to the gatekeeper to port back up because there were just too many mobs outsdie the door.

Madness Beast (**** did i rememeber the name right?) was cute as he shout from time to time.

Needed almost two parties to get inside Giants Cave or fight all the way to inner DV. And SE, Bishop and Prophet were a must.

Like what everyoen had said about Gludio being lag capital.

Fallen from the boat on the way to TI or from TI to Gludio. Or ran along the bottom of the sea without dying between TI and Gludio

Using NG to almost 40 before able to buy low/mid D grade helmet and boots. Then using got to almost 52 before being able to pool enough adena with help from clannies to equip with mid to top mixed Ds.

I remember you had to scream at people to force them to use soulshot/ magic haste/attack potion while in group.

Wow. That must've been fun. (Not).
"HAHAHAHA Today this island belongs to Uthanka! "

'nuff said.
i feel bad missing all these cool things :( sounded like fun....i came in late c3/early c4 so i missed most of this :p

i remember running to Gludin for the first time on my lvl 11 nuker, (ran over the back of windmill hill) and seeing a huge brown bear running at me. before i knew it i was dead on the ground thinking "wth was that?? i didnt even hit the mob!"

for those former Erica players- i remember when "Dylon alert at ___(Location)___!!!" was shouted daily. and i remember seeing C/B graders coming to kill him and thinking "wow...they're awesome."

i remember not knowing about the by turn pickup thing and getting scammed once i finally got my D grade weapon :'(

i remember (even in c3/4) when Gludin was full of people fighting over mobs on windmill hill

i remember not knowing a treant in the elven village was a NPC and trying to kill one :o :p

yes..most of mine were just "omg newb moments" :p but i remember when i wasnt the only real "newb" in town who had those problems
Did anyone else, like me, carry more than 10 maps at once? Did anyone actively ensure that every single empty slot in their inventory was full of maps while in PVP?

I used to completely fill up my inventory until this one time my party was attacked by a red SR on Bartz.. I didn't have any money at the time when I started out, so I was 47 in mid-D. This guy must have been in his low 50's as he was in BW leather (I remember this incident very well). He popped off a few shots onto my BH, stunning once. I managed to get a few stuns off in a row, when I eventually caught him, and some how beat the hell out of him. He dropped his bow, BW top and bottoms. I ran in for the pickup only to realise my inventory was full! So this guy, who kept out of it, who I was in party with gained the full spoils!! The little [insert word] then dropped party and ran for high heavens.

MrExpo.. if you're out there, on Bartz... I hate you.
I remember times whan bots and ebayers have been abandoned, pked, kicked

I remember times whan you could tipe /gmlist and find live GMs online

I remember time whan oly was not a joke

I remember time whan people shouted "lfp or plf ..." and you could choose what random party you will join

I remember mobs on open fields
i remember mass pvp at oren north gate on gustin, everyone was c grade and if you had doom you were uber.i remember i turned up and everyone was like oh noes its the brig zerg lol, coming from c graders and a few little b graders
I remember When I got my first Hunting Bow drop and was the envy of everyone even thou I was a Mage :D

I remember When I got arrows for the dam thing and would nuke and then kill off the mob with a Arrow (lol what a Noob I was)

I remember not even knowing what Sprint shots was let alone Bless Sprint Shots.

I remember X (the best pker ever)

I remember never even heard of Acumen or Empower or Wind Walk (I solo a lot in Beta)

I remember Hell I remember true hard core leveling (no shots no buffs only self buffs)

I remember the Dry land area that you could run thou that was underwater between Talking Island and Guldin

I remember when you could not swim you instead drop like a rock 2 the bottom.

I remember when EAD and EWD from golems at wasteland drop better then Common drops.

I remember a time of no BOTS or EBAY. (good times good times)

I remember Lionna

I remember when I use to really enjoy the game

:(
I remember when going to the fabled "mainland" was something you'd discuss with all the people you'd meet on TI. People trying everything to get on the boat without having to pay the 3k for a ticket.

I remember making a huge journey to Giran and being in awe of the huge church. There were like 2 people selling C-Grade there (which still looked like salamander skin back then) and I would wonder who would possibly go all the way to Giran to buy something.

EDIT: Oh, and I remember QUEEN ANT RAIDS (http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/5655/09yt0.jpg) xD
Oh yes yes! I remember my boat rides! Omg how long i had to wait for those to get anywhere!
But it was like a real journey, like those boats were taking you to your destiny and you'd wait and look around trying to spot land and hoping you wouldnt clitch and fall off the boat if you moved too much heheheh. Man those were the times ^_^
There was no boat out of Elmore :(

There was no boat out of Elmore :(

Yea, but you could walk... if only the **** dwarves in Schuttgart had blown away the mountains first......

I remember when Mold Hardeners were 200k+ each.

Ha ha, actually I remember that, I remember we were in GC getting mold hardeners and we got mad at our used-car salesman type WS bought some of those for cheap then turned around and sold them for full price. Clan drops weren't supposed to be resold for profit.

And on my very first char I remember carrying no more than 500 shots at a time, using 1 a mob or a few if it was an emergency XD
I remember going to Gludin arena and drooling at C-Graders. I went there a few days ago... deserted. :(
I remember when farmers were live right in the very beginning crawling in every room in elven ruins, and one of them pking my level 13 wolf for killing their mobs.

I think I chased them around for at least 30 minutes and they kept killing me. I was so ******...

Or being pked over and over by a deleveled PR in TI port waiting for the boat until I gave up going to Gludin lol..

Good bye L2. Fun times like that will never come again in this game.
I got most of my PVP and PK points on my SH in the elven ruins and curma fighting the Live farmers back then.
All those were very cool. I will only mention my favorite: How the forsaken plains used to be, I LOVED it with the trees and the path which led there. I run there from Aden using the bridge many times a day. From the right was the ''easier'' mobs, the paliotes , the spiders dropping SLS blades and the Haligka's bleeding me all the time while from the right were the bears with the darn chain stun. I always exped at the right. :p

The early times were the best, when the excitement for the unknown and the live community existed.
i remember first posting on this thread!!
I remember running from gludin to giran and back 3 times for the wolf quest because I kept making mistakes and teleporting was so expensive it never crossed my mind. Yeah as someone else said, it died and i couldn't figure out how to rez it in time.

I remember standing in the entrance of TI village hoping the reds would get distracted so i could sneak out to level. At least one time we ran out in a group figuring he could only kill a few at a time till we got away lol.

I remember how much i was looking forward to getting to a higher lvl just so i could come back to ti and kill the reds and being so dissapointed that they were not arround any more.

I remember dying 10 times the first hour i played the game to reds around TI village and being ****** but so loved the game it was worth it.

I remember the first time I saw a bot party and thought, wow they must play together a lot, they all move in harmony.

I remember when you couldn't find a dire wolf around dion that wasn't being spoiled by dwarves for charcol.

I remember the first red that attacked me and I was actually able to kill him instead. I thought i was sooo uber.

I remember the first time I saw someone attack and actually kill a town guard.. and was sooo impressed.

I remember the awe I felt looking around and exploring the world... this was my first and still is my favorite mmorpg.
I remember when pets lost a full level when they died.

I remember when pets lost a full level when they died.

And the rush to get them rezzed quick, cause you only had a small window of time to do so before they went poof forever!

I remember when pets lost a full level when they died.

I really Hated that.

I remember people would PK your pets just because of that
I remember that the world map was an item in your inventory, and everyone who pk'd from time to time stuffed their inventory with them, because there was this myth that when you died red there was a smaller chance of dropping something valuable :p

I remember aggroing huge mob trains trough walls on TOI 5th, and everyone going 'omg we're gonna die now'

I remember being para'd as a healer sucks in TOI, when para still lasted like, 2 minutes?
I remember X (Ash is right, he was a great PKer)

I remember when NO ONE spammed soul shots in groups

I remember when people would group with random other people, as opposed to towing around their own party.

I remember being the only dwarf on TI.

I remember people giving me all sorts of mats to craft them stuff on just blind faith, and then being overjoyed when they realize you arent actually a scammer.

I remember when we used to walk everywhere because 4k to port somewhere was expensive.

I remember killing mushrooms over and over to farm money from the fungus sac quest.

I remember when, we used to sing, "Sha la la la la la la la la la tada"
I remember the Japanese Open Beta, without bots and farmers, where I played the most wonderful game.
..or when sleep was worth the SP.

I know it wasn't that long ago.. but hey.
Good times & wasted hours at the Gludin arena... where all the high level people showed off :)

"HAHAHAHA Today this island belongs to Uthanka! "

'nuff said.

"TA-DA!! Uthanka has arrived!" That was my first death in-game...leveling happily on wolves and orcs and Uthanka and his buddies spawn on top of me. I came back to TI to do my second class change, and slaughtered him. I felt so redeemed. ^_^

I remember always running, because TP was a "waste of adena", and playing "I-Spy" in shout along the way...and people actually playing along. ^_^

I remember leaving Talking Island for my first class change, and waiting for the boat with another player. Lacy ran up to us and the other girl asked why her name was red. She replied "Follow me and I will show you." I warned her not to, but she still did...she never made it back for the boatride. :( I dunno how many times on TI I saw reds baiting players to locations in shout. >_< lol

I remember leveling in OB, and running for my life when an orc would run back to camp to get his buddies. :(

I remember the first time I saw mass pvp, a clan war outside Dion and how awestruck I was that so many of them were in Bgrade.

I remember dying and dropping gear during the "Raid Bosses Outside of Town" event, and someone picked it up...and I had no idea who because there was no system announcement. :(

I remember when EG was risky business because if it wasn't the PKer that got you, it was all the random clanwar fights at crossroad.

I remember when if a player was found botting, the news spread like wildfire and they were on more KOS lists than they could count.
No one has mentioned that freignt could only be withdrawn in the same town it was deposited in(and no mrt!!!) **** mrt took some of the life out of the game, with mrt now real arenas are deserted :(

they really need to just delete the MRT that was a big waste.

I remember when we got a Crono every Update (I have all 5 + the Bow and PIG lollipop)

I remember when we had events :(

they really need to just delete the MRT that was a big waste.

I remember why the MRT is useful (10k adena bet and weeeee, ok yes someone bet 1 mil and lost when I won, but still)
MONEY!!! (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/Geckovette/Iwin.jpg)
you guys remember back when mrt was bugged and you could use it for a free port to dion?
cheapest second class quests i ever done ^^
I remember discussing with one PK in orc land about his PKing and why he's doing it and i remember sitting down with him just talking and it ended him asking me to kill him so he could get back white again.

Remembering DE city armor/weapon shop being so crowded that you couldn't get to the NPC.

Remember getting lost in DE land and trying to find my "home" and when clicking on the map I saw "mother tree" and figured that is the place to go.... well I met some scary dark horrors and ran naked towards neutral zone where i got killed... spawned in overcrowded Gludio and i was totally lost... luckily i saw my dear friend in gludio armor shop and he helped me back to DE city (running) :P

Remembering whacking keltirs and wondering how am i supposed to kill them (as a mage). This was when you actually needed to drag equipment on and first skills on the quickbar.

Remembering first time of using shots and, thinking soulshots are utterly useless since i couldnt use them (as a mage).

Doing my first wolf quest, getting wolf... and getting it killed with the first mob outside of town :)

Going my first time to Cruma Tower around lvl 14-15 and shouting everyone in party "Gray ant ahead.. watch out" .. not knowing they are passive and not worth of the trouble..

Doing my first AOE party and being childishly giggling when i saw that pile of money and exp.

When the shop music was fading into town music and didn't got cut of like right now (I still miss the old way)

Missing my SpS awesome overhit skill, when the animation and sound was like SK's lightning strike.. I still wish they would have kept it as it was... it was worth playing only cuz of this animation and sound :)

And many more little things that were new and interesting, too bad that the game and the ppl that are playing this game have changed so much over those years..
I remember playing on TI, fighting farmer in manticore/maingauche.

I remember playing in cruma, and there was only 1 person who would pick all the drop, then sell them and split with the group.

I remember when there was people in either Giran arena or Gludio (or is it Gludin?) arena, so much fun.

I remember all the lowbie PvP in ruin of agony (or sorrow, or wasn't it named different before?)

I remember going to abandoned camp, with brig top and some random non-grade gather, lol.

I remember, player setting up shop on road for SS and other stuff and getting killed by red, lol.

I remember walking from Dion --> Giran, because it was to costly.

I remember, long time ago (before siege was even possible) you could glitch and enter some caste (like dion castle), and sit on the throne. Me and my friend discovered the glitch and went inside, took many, many many screenshot. OMG we were so cool, sitting on that throne! I lost all those screenshot, I would kill to see those again.

OH, and I remember making huge, HUGE train in Orc Barrack. Me (tank) 2 DD's, 1 pre-WC and 1 buffer. Always with the same person. It was so fun~
I remember when there were no Quick healing pots and CP pots. Overlords used to mean more to parties for the CP heal. Not so any more with the crazy amount of pots some toons can carry.

I remember when there were no Quick healing pots and CP pots. Overlords used to mean more to parties for the CP heal. Not so any more with the crazy amount of pots some toons can carry.

I remember when there was no CP.
Prophets being the best buffer class or indeed useful for something other than being a buff pet
Dragon valley being the highest level most difficult place in the game
SRs being the most overpowered class 60% of the server played
Mini raid bosses shouting in broken english
Every room on cruma tower taken
Every high level player wearing what looked like salamander skin armour
AshNC
I remember... the Alamo.

[Texans cheer]
My boyfriend is instant messaging me from 3 feet away telling me to stop reading this thread and get my butt into the real world SO.. I may be duplicating but I remember..

Mob servers crashing so that dead mobs stayed where they were. I gathered a HUGE pile of orcs around my tiny dwarf girl and sat her in the middle to take pictures. :)

lol, your boyfriend just "instant messaged" you.

I think we know who needs to step into the real world ;)

But no worries... come back when you are ready... we'll leave the light on. :)

From 3 feet away...

Me thinks her boyfriend, nay, all of her friends are a bit ... odd.
I remember in beta when the boat from Talking Island to Gludin was very bugged and at one point it actually looked like it was sinking haha, me and everyone on the boat had to walk back to shore although most died. Funny thing was me and my friend thought that was an actual feature since it actually looked like the boat was sinking O.o.
Anyone remember when Brigandine armor was bugged? (prelude) If you managed to buy it as soon as you mouseovered it, your game would crash.

Of course there was a fix available at the time..but it involved tinkering with your system folder.

Mmmmm, Farrah Fawcett...

*drool*
I remember clicking the shoulshots each time to use them till I found out you could AUTO equip them if you right clicked on them >.< (Laughs about it now)

I remember to stand baite for the EG pk'r to get him ganked by a few friends and ending up having a fabulous chatter with the guy. I was his 100.000.000.000 (he wasn't able to tell anymore LOL) karma point.

I remember peacefully hunting in Sea of spores with my friend and getting Orphen spawn on top of us during her daily walks around the place...Strange enough I survived O.o

I remember you were able to walk from TI to Gludin because there was a glitch at a certain spot in the graphics so you didn't loose hp or breath gauche :)

I remember standing up inside Cruma Tower entrance for a clannie that got ganked by whiners and while using my AoE skill "Blazing Circle" I accidently went red on an unlucky passing orc (hillarious :D ).

I remember when Raid bosses were actually mini bosses like the kamaloka now are. I also remember taking a Raid boss for a regular mob and not understanding why the heck I couldn't kill. Needless to say he ate me raw...

I remember being shown around Waste lands at level 16, seeing all mobs dark red and thinking: Oh my goodness what took me to follow this Light Elf...

I remember some of the big shot names around now a days, being a part of my clan at one point in their carreers...So many small souls helped out to become such big shots.

I remember pick-up raid teams shouting in Dion and forming within 10 minutes.

I remember .......
Ahhhhh Glorious and bitter-sweet memories....

Hahahaha! Oh heck . Our ages are showing. ^^;;

I remember.. a GM having a pleasant conversation outside LE vil while being attacked by 30-40 newbies at once. I only saw him/her heal twice.

I remember.. logging in to L2 at god-awful hours just to run a toon from LE vil to DE vil to retrieve a buddys pants from his fallen corpse. Back then we really believed if you hung around your body instead of returning to town you would be able to talk others out of taking your dropped item. HAH. (oh yeah.. closed beta. Before someone says we should have known better when we purchased the game. ;p)
Don't be silly. Nobody was alive in 1976. ... Or did you not renew? hmm........RUN!

I remember clicking the shoulshots each time to use them till I found out you could AUTO equip them if you right clicked on them >.< (Laughs about it now)

back in the day there was no way to auto spam shots
the ebayers wore out their F keys spamming them and everyone else only used them in an emergency

*TWEEEEEEET* Penalty flag

You were exactly how old in 1976?

I remember when Logon's Run (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/) was originally released. I was 12.

She's too young and, er "youtful" to remember rationed gas :D

I was 9
I Remember...
Getting lost in EG while trying to take a shortcut to giren for my wolf quest.
Running everywhere *omg*
Using my "rich" Boyfriends Gastra in Non grade and missing every other shot. He started ahead of me n could afford it.
Getting killed over and over by Nurakas Messenger.
Getting trained and dropping my tunic, but watching the guy who trained me die to his own mobs, and getting my tunic back :)
Watching gatewars at dion between the strongest clans on the server.
Not even knowing what SS were till i was 25.
More recent stuff:
Pking ppl in their 20's on my lvl 30 permared sh after i decided to re-roll, then logging an alt and watching all the B graders come to kill me.
Grinding off raids till i was B grade, then they made the raids to hard :(
Running to get my clanmembers +4 Tsu*Sls he dropped to a mob. *Last Gear drop i ever saw*
Bots trying to train me for my hunting area
Low lvl pvp, 20-50 when ppl didnt run for their "mains"
Real permareds that pked ppl all the way to B grade.

Mostly, like others, i miss that noob feeling. No other mmo i have tried has captured it like l2.
I remember those huge raidbos events at, I think it was C3 that dropped full A armors, we need more of those :)
I remember when dark screamers looked like doom daggers or was it doom daggers looked like dark screamers - regardless, always a good time seeing those scammers setting up shops in Gludio (not such a good time for those who were scammed).
I remember when mobs overflowed in newbie areas,

i remember elves and darkelves running from their villages *yes running no porting* from their village all the way to talking island, T.I. had some many mixed races...

I remember getting bone set was cool

so was getting a gladius

using soulshots were for emergencies

parties of 9 in elven ruins

got off the computer and did a backflip when i saw a machette dagger sitting on top of ER

racking up stuff from people who quit, pickup groups at Ivory Tower

waters south of elven viallge were so pure u could breathe it lol

when u got in water, u dropped to the bottom and slow ran,

people taking the boats to gludin Oo and d/cing on them and dieing, dropping gear in the middle of the ocean lol
I remember changing my sleep schedule to get on super late at night during the beta since you couldn't login as the server was hammered during the day.
SODA! thats the school of dark arts for you newbs. so glad i rolled a DE so i got to xp in here with funny chinese talking ppl who went purple a lot. my first friend was a farmer lol. HONGJL <3.

Gludio (beta>prelude), was so busy your fps would die entering the town gate and youd see nothing until you hit the opposite gate. I remember gludio was the center of the economy for ages and ppl rarely went to giran. was too **** far to walk anyway. oh yea, EVERYONE walked EVERYWHERE.

pulling orfen to oren (hilarity ensued)
pulling lord iskha to giran where it killed a bunch of shops, and ppl dropped items(hilarity ensued)
first time i went in cruma tower, was empty and full of red
mobs (krators). then i saw a guy training them and aoeing. was
blown away. so i replicated this and did 40-45 in a few days.
cruma pvp in prelude. awesomeness.
ct2 was uber high lvl and dangerous. u were [censored] elite if u xp'd here lol.
our first exploration beyond giran in prelude, we were all sub 20's and getting owned by fettered souls etc. we made it all the way to HV and were awed by the weird drakes.
the skeletons and silenos around giran.
talking island north gate/gludio w gate pvp.
giran being totally empty.
dion being dead, like it is now.
music in oren was awesome. and ivory tower.

In c1 giran replaced cruma as center of pvp. most pvp was outside n gate spreading upto death pass. pvp was so totally random then. and the farmer wars in lair - gfg.

spiritshots? what are they? never used em in pvp, saved em for pve. well my 20 lvl advantage meant i didnt need em anyway ;)

when u got in water, u dropped to the bottom and slow ran,

Depends on the water! Normal lakes and rivers you ran full speed. Only the ocean slowed you down :p

I loved using the rivers to avoid PKers
I remember shouts "looking for lvl 12 ppl for party in SODA" and i was still too low :(
I remeber the last day before wipe: all us dark elves gone to light elves town passing by mountains to kill all of them. Found there a dwarf, was worse than a raid boss :)
She killed all of us :)

Mostly, like others, i miss that noob feeling. No other mmo i have tried has captured it like l2.

Too true. How fun would it be to have the server reset so everyone was lvl5 again! Bring back all those good fun times of massive Dion sieges and such.
I remember, as a young dwarf, when you couldnt do your class change in a day because of all the farmers. I remember running into the mines yelling all the fake chinese I learned in game, trying to kill this mob, find toma, and kill the farmers. They always had their "Adena boss" who was oddly high level to come get u when you interupted their work.

The trip to gludio to set up my first shot shop, after learning to make and crush leather gloves for crystals. I was rich by those standards.

when u got in water, u dropped to the bottom and slow ran,

yea most of the water that you could..."breate" did that, as if the water wasn't even there.

also i know what you mean, when you're red and you got people chasing you, surprisingly they don't look into the water.
I remember when Talking Island was laggy from all the people in it.
I remember when you could port straight to Hunters Village from Giran.
I Remember when I use to solo Nair the now Quest only Boss Mob in the back of Elven ruins that gave XP and Drop D grade Helmet. :D
I hate him he never dropped my quest item.

I Remember when I use to solo Nair the now Quest only Boss Mob in the back of Elven ruins that gave XP and Drop D grade Helmet. :D

o yea, and soloing the kat the cat summon near the spiders on the northern part of the island
I remember running to the neutral zone from DE Villiage and seeing about 100 people fighting on the bridge, wound up it was a DE vs LE battle. What ever happened to those days?
I believe this thread deserves given the golden drawing pin! Epic.
I remember when Cruma tower was a battle zone and d grade was hard to come by.
I remember when hero's were implemented, the first day the hero said anything(remember Nya in particular) in hero shout the server crashed.
I remember seeing people (and being) in mismatched gear.
dude whats with the mithril top, magic stockings, puma boots, and manticore gloves???
i remember Blazing Swamp as simple grey swamp
I remember ppl draggin me on my bountyhunter to areas well above my lvl, to try and lands spoil for a really rare recipe or material.
I remember when warsmiths could spoil just as well as BH's in TOI and it really really ticked BH's off. (some kind of C2 problem)
Cruma tower C1 - All rooms filled, invincible raiding now and then and getting chased by zerg mosre oftn then not. The non-botting Farmers controling all north west and always trying for northeast (or was it southwest?) corners of the tower. When ppl ran around in there asking in every room if they had a spot.

When more then 3-4 full groups ran around looking for a free room.

Basically a full cruma tower.

And the chat got hit with a blue text for the first time saying:

"A great evil is approaching".

Rest you just had to see to understand how crazy it was in there. Althou the evil never actually arrived in cruma (not that day atleast) it was kaos. The chat went so fast by it was impossible to follow with people talking about anterhas spawning in CT3 and whatnot.

My friend sending a petition asking if the GMs had a party and was drunk and recieved a copy pasted response with the wrong name attached to it (It was copy pasted and the name wasnt changed since the response the GM had done before).
Apparently the GMs was overwhelmed with petitions - and the name my friend got in his response was of another person who also had sent a petition asking wth was going on.

Good old days of Cruma Tower...
You guys remember when you had to keep clicking soulshots and spiritshots to make them work, and you be breaking your hand and going through mice like crazy?

You guys remember when you had to keep clicking soulshots and spiritshots to make them work, and you be breaking your hand and going through mice like crazy?

Whoa!!! Totally forgot aobut that! Man that sucked, lol.
I remember:

-- When my connection speed was only 4kb\sec and I could play only during 1-10 A.M. before phone lines were not that busy :)
-- I thought there were only HUMANS in the game. So when I finally became lvl 25+ and was running near gludin I saw a "short human" (dwarf) and I stopped and said: Wow! What are u? And he answered: I'm a dwarf!! That was strange :)
-- I remember not knowing anything about 2 box window mode along with the fact that my golem (I've been playing WS since C1) can HAVE BUFFS!
-- Swimming from TI to Gludin not in the boat!! Because the ticket was so expensive. And when I finally made it to Gludin I found out that there were NO NG shots there :) so I had to swim back many times :p
-- I remember my friend gave me Sword of Revolution and everyone around me would say: wow! A TOP "D" grade! Where did u get it??
-- I remember not knowing about inventory so I killed keltirs with bare hands till lvl 5 and it was very hard for me 2 realise that now I have to hit bigger and stronger mobs :p
--I remember discovering SKILLS!!! When I saw a human fighter using some sword skill, I though: OMG! He must be using some special combo by typing smth. on the keybord.
--I remember no weapon glow.
--Max skill lvl is 58.
--no 3d class no subs.
--I remember I though that +4 weapon was 100% impossible and only GM could make it +4 (excluding +5 at all).
--I remember when I was trying to get to lvl 40 just to learn the crystalize skill because many people would look 4 a dwarf to crystalize their item and they would (omg) share some crystals with you! :)
--I remember earning big amount of respect when a random guy would whisper u: "I've heared you were a trustworphy dwarf who wouldn't scam while crafting" and u craft smth. 4 him and say: "I need nothing!". He would then give alot things to you and tell many ppl about u :))
--I remember like my friend Prophet earned his special " momental escape" skill (return lvl 2) and he was shouting: I owe everyone now, I will never die! :) And in fact he DID owe everyone with duals and in BW heavy because he had amazing buffs others didn't have :)
--I remember deciding wheather or not to learn summon siege golem skill. At that time I thought: OMG! It requires 22B grade crystals!!!! Just to summon it!!!!
--I remember good relationships and the way ppl react when u told them u were a lvl 60 DWARF :)
--I remember mechanic golem had the best stats so I could kill 4-5 buffed ppl with unbuffed golem.
--I remember no shots for pets.
--LOA (lair of antharas) was the only place for high lvls.
--I remember 67 lvl becomes expertise "S" grade :) And we all thought: this is gonna be smth. unbelivable in 10 years at least:D
--I remember no "A" grade he-he.
--I remember earning 200kk from selling "B" grade shots!
--I remember Blessed shots didn't increase casting speed.
--I remember no dyes, catas.
--I remember arguing about a dwarf being a 100% Tank lol (because we have tons of hp).
--I thought I couldn't use Sword/Duals or bow if I only have blunt mastery :p

Those were the days.... Love them !
- I remember when ppl paid attention to Preacher of Doom and thought the world was "gonna end soon"... ^^
- I remember when you had to walk for 30 minutes because you wanted to save adena to get that D grade item! (now they have free teleports until lvl 40!! grrr)
- I remember not knowing what AA was ^^
- I remember my first Bone Shield (a gift from a friend).
- I remember that I felt almighty when I could put my hands on a Caliburs!! (lvl 40 paladin on clan oath heavy, kite shield and a caliburs ... I was all Blue)
- I remember resting to recover HP (no herb drops)

Funny ^^
I was a cleric and much in demand for buffs and heals since there were no noobie buffers, herbs or similar things in game. Each new level of buffs and each new buff was a source of happiness for the clan. Still, progress was slow and I died a lot.

Then one day when I was fooling around, probably about level 17 or so (which took several weeks of hard playing back then) I discovered..

OMG I can Heal MYself, not just others! WaitWait..I can buff myself too, not just others! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I guess the "Self Heal" buff wasn't an obvious skill then.. or did it actually confuse you more as you thought that was the only skill you could use?
I think a lot of people didn't realize how to select yourself to do buffs that didn't auto select self (like self heal). I know I did that on my first char, attack aura or something that didn't self select.

LOL I remember for a long time I thought Vampiric Touch was my version of a self heal till a dark Wizard name Laggin told me that I could select my self and Heal back in beta. I was like OMG I can heal and buff my self ??????

This was my first game of this type. I was such a noobie that they put my picture in Wiki in the definition of 'Newb." Hmmm. I think they used the same picture in the defs of 'Geek' and 'Loser,' too. How odd.....
my first anty raid,baium raid,
peacecountry whole server fighting against them. zaken raid, ant queen raid.
siege for oren on lvl 45.
that you drop stuff if you were killed by a mob.
alot of clans in an ally.
that you have to walk from ps anthras lair to the heart with a huge train on the zerg aaaa some much things to remember.
Things I remeber:

Bots dropping apon death from player caused train
Alot of Clans in 1 ally
60% A grade recs being the ONLY recs you can get
intresting Sieges >.>
When the catacombs/necros were a "new" thing O.o
Swimming from TI to Wastelands because the boat was too expensive (and dieing half way there lol)
When events were more common O.O
When Prophets were the buffer to have, coupled with an SE
I remember not knowing there was a high detail option, and tried running from the DE village to Gludin for the first time...cutting fields, then screaming my head off when I dragged my first ever HUGE spider out of the fog of war...ran for my life for what felt like miles...and of course dying. ^^ lol

I remember hunting and killing bots for their drops.

I remember living in fear of gear-snagging trainers in catas/necros.

I remember laying dead with my weapon on the ground beside me, screaming in clan chat for a rescuer...or going back to town and running my BUTT off to reclaim my gear...'oh please oh please oh please...' ^_^

...good times. ^^ hehe
I remember fake death NEVER failing and being trained with it on Cruma 2 by BH farmers over and over and over.
If you use silent move, then fake death, it's then a 100% succeed move.
without silent move its about 80%
BH's don't have silent move.
With the new Gracia change, I'm going to miss being able to train the Core mobs down the escape hatch.

Oh.. and I miss being able to do Core. All those tanks getting dps in the 'ring of death'.

Oh.. those were the days.
i remember prowlers being black and green, and at night they showed up by the dozen in the neutral zone, lining the roads so close it made you wonder if it was safe to pass or not. and finding out they were, indeed, aggro.
I remember Sea of Spores being packed only to in the next hour, see everyone rushing for the gate, and then the next minute to see a 200feet multiarmed thing killing off all the stragglers. aah those were the days
man this thread worth a resurrect! Read it in full and made me emo (i rember a time when there was no such word pfff)
I rember when a friend and a work coleg come to me and said he had found a new great game which was still free to play, so acople of us joined it on the lowest ping server last on the list (6-th) called Gustin.... yes i rember Gustin. Was back in open beta towards the end.
I rember being a total noob about MMORPGs back then, the shock i had when i seen some one selling some item for 5000a wile i had 10a and was thinking "omg i will need to kill a thousand keltirs to afford that"
I rember saving cash for a month to pay the 50$ for the account when open beta was closed :o
Rember rejoining l2 as a de fighter male and my first pk, a dwarf girl was killing funguses and i felt that it was killing my mobs so i pked her, 5 min later she reapered with a male dwarf and they chased me all over the map and i was shocked they were using bows to hit me, never seen one and i couldnt understand how a dwarf can use it
I rember my first gludio day and getting scammed for all my money by the buy/sale duo scam (a long time a go some one could have puten buy shop with out having money so 2 people not far from each other, 1 was sealing some bow shafts for a high price and another was buying the same shafts for even higher but he had no cash on him self)
Rember being very proud on my armor upgrade (that took 2 weeks to farm for) and getting big criticizing monologue from a friend about a DD must buy a better weapon first armor later.
I rember my first shield drop item and how happy i was about.
I rember CT parties and no ss usage.
I rember EA aly on Gustin and them holding lock on Antharas lair for a long time taxing farmers to hunt there.
I rember first time i walked in ToI and the perfect ToI parties you had to make, rember the mobs on the intermediary floors, wasting 2h to wait for a party then to run to toi 5-8 and your bufer soeing out because he had some rl stuff to do :( Rember when my party was resting in toi 5 middle and i decided i can solo a mob and got slauthred.
I rember my first day in a cata ....
And the list could go for h's but the botom line is this game took my "MMORPG virginity" away and no other new game could give the same feling since. I manage to quit L2 for 3 times till now and always come back on a new toon or a new account but the feeling was never the same.
Hope Aion or L3 can recreate something similar for his beginnings and hope it will never evolve in the bot land L2 is today.........
I remember starting to Devianne following a friends suggestion to join them. I remember the first time I got him online, he came to talking island and hook me up with top ng and some adena. I remember being mid 50s wearing doom-boots/gloves and theca up-lower leaching exp in woa from clanmates, the old time best title “Frankstein” still puts a smile in my face. I remember my fist important craft and how it failed, I remember the crafter being a good friend and his depression being bigger then mine. I remember finishing Mimir’s Elixir quest, starting a sub and eventually getting nobles status.i remember having good time playing l2 with friends.
oh wow OldWind I totally forgot about that scam, that you could set up a buy shop without having enough money. It's not possible now, but I remember people doing that.
Wow - Epic Thread.
