Academy armor and reselling

So the academy armor is put in the game mainly to help newbies (i guess)
Since a char must have gone through the academy or gotten a sponsor and done the quest themselves (and as such gotten a set of armor) the armor's resell value is very low

Is it possible to crystallise it ? Can you even trade the armor pieces to other people ?
If not ill just get a brig set for my alt instead

academy stuff is nodrop.

u cant sell it, u must destroy it.

but the cost of it is comparatively cheap. at last check, around 800k for the whole set. the brig will go for 3-5m depending your server.

Academy stuff can be droped (I died and droped my Helmet and Boots), everyone can pick it up, you can trade it (but noone else can wear it), you can enchant it, you can overenchant it and you can crystalize it (with a dorf or with a enchant armor ^^).

Not sure if ya can open a buy/sell shop for it or if ya can sell it to NPC store, never tried that.

The only thing that differentiates it from other D Grade armor, apart from being ****, is that it can only be worn if you're in an academy. All the other rules apply- selling, buying, dropping. Until player drops go the way of disco and the dinosaur, at least.

You can wear other peoples' academy armor as long as you're in an academy, the game doesn't distinguish between whether you earned it through the quest or not.

But I know you can wear it outside of the academy, but just if ya graduate. Noticed that on the pts, I was worried that I'll have no armor and stayed in the academy (=2nd classchange) till lv43. After I completed classchange I thought I would loose it but then noticed I could still wear it. Just if ya leave the academy before 2nd classchange you cant wear it anymore.

(I used mine for a while after graduating before I switched to C grade)

If your clan paid the crystal for the armor, drop it in the CWH and they can give it to the next academy character they have ;)

That's not true, you can continue to wear it after you've graduated as long as you like, even after you de-equip it or re-equip it. :)

Actually, I think it's:

If in academy -- you can wear it
If you successfully graduated -- you can wear it
If you left academy without graduating -- you can't equip it; as soon as you deequip it's no longer equippable.

once you graduat, you cant re-equip it if you take it off.

the armor has alot of pdef so it can propably even last me in c grade until i manage to gather the mats for pl set and bw heavy set

If you are not in an academy, you cannot get nor ever wear Clan armor
If you are in an academy, you can wear it.
IF you were in an academy but left BEFORE graduating, you can wear it until it is unequiped. If you left before requiping it, you cannot requup it.
IF you graducate from the academy, you can wear it even at lvl 80. You can continue to un-equip and re-equip it several times.

You can crystallyze it, the whole set crystallized gives exact the same amount of D crystals your sponsor invested. So you can crystallize it, and then for example use those crystals to get different set of clan armour for other student. Or just make shots and sell for profit :p

Is this a confirmed fact? My clannie said you'd get 1 crystal out of each piece?

Clannie did that after his alt finished academy to get robes for his SO from light armour. It's normal armour, tradeable, dropable, just there are some limitations on who can wear it.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation. I "accidentaly" have 2 robe sets... Now I can get rid of the other :)

Thanks all for clarifying the Clan armor issue many seem to have :)

I wasn't sure about the on off when or when not you could equipe it except about the academy member all the way through. And it's good to know that you get back the crystals if you crystalize the whole set :)
