I played several hours in at the Timak Orc cmp and only managed to get 10 or so. I hunted Lakins south of Hunter's Village for several hours and got 2 coins. I never got a single coin from Hatar Hanishees to the east of Aden. Now I'm grinding on Punishment of the Undead in the Cemetary.but I've only gotten a few Blood Medusasas, maybe 4 or 5. Where the heck can I go to get a decent drop rate on these coins?
(FYI, I've tried Outlaw Forest and gotten a much better drop rate, just on Silver Unicorns instead of Blood Medusas.)

sorry mate, this is normal, i have the quest since lvl 40 and now im 66. I have right now 420 Blood medusas in my inventory. Thats the game and drop rate. Sorry
Coins drops are really rare is not a normal quest item. it takes time to acquire a good quantity your better keep lvl until mobs are easy to kill or just make a buy shop if your planning to lvl your membership and be a royal member.
C5 made some nice addition making mobs lvl 60+ to drop regular coins. mobs in valley of Sanits drops Bloody medusas too.
Welcome to another "mission impossible" quest of the L2 world. You can spend all your 40-60 leveling time on mobs that drop coins and in the end I doubt you will have enough coins for the level 1 membership. Let alone the "rewards". Of course you can gamble for the coins but if you turn out to be lucky, shut down L2 immediately and go to the horse races.
PS1 You can always buy these coins from PCs
PS2 It does make you wonder how some players have 5000+ blood medusas to sell, doesn't it?
These 'drops' (not really, they appear in your inventory automatically) behave like other drops. Some days they drop frequently (1 in 4 or 5 mobs) other days rarely (1 in 15 or 20 mobs) and some days not at all.
Early on, a very wise player told me that if mob A is not dropping/spoiling well, move to another mob or a different location for that mob. The rate won't change until the next (unknown) reset time. I of course sought to prove her wrong by being persistent, but... she is correct.
So, if the Timak Orc Soldiers aren't coughing up the Bloods, move on to another mob. Note: the coins are quest items, so the rate does not change even though the mob turns dark blue. When I ran to Apostates from Oren, I would cruise by a number of dark-blue Soldiers, and turn and kill them at the entrance. Usually got one or two coins from the pile of corpses I deposited on the bricks.
Yep, my big purpose was to eventually do the Kail's Magic Coin quest as a way to get A grade equipement. One person said the drop rate varies with class. FYI, my main is a Destroyer, and I also have a boxed SE. As such, the Blood Medusas would be the most valuable for me, because they can be used for the A-grade 2-handed sword. But even if I get all the way to 80 and beyond, I dounbt I'll ever get enough Blood Medusas to actually get one of these. What a waste.
