Ok, firstly hello everyone! Secondly, I have recently started playing Lineage II on the Teon server. I started out by making a Dark Elf Warrior with the idea of making a Shillen Knight, however I found that the mages a) looked way cooler and b) seemed to do more damage, so im now playing a Human Mystic which im enjoying quite a lot. (Lvl 7 now)
What im wondering is after I got to about lvl 10 with my DE Warrior I seemed to run out of quests to do, and seemed to have only one choice, grind, grind, grind.. Now I dont mind doing that, but is that really what im meant to be doing!? Also, I can't seem to find that many other players? Where are they all!? And when will be high enough lvl to get to them!? Plus any additional tips would be great!
I recommend you to go 'Player Questions' on Message Boards and you 'll find 'New Player FAQ (by Jute)'. It's a awsome guide to beginners. You are sure to find some answers.
I have read it, but it doesnt offer much explanation in the way of what to do and where to go post lvl 10-15 other than Gludin and Gludio which I dont think I could go to that low could I??
The short answer: Yes. Grind, Grind, Grind + Quest Repeatable equests.
The game is all about grind. Just think of how much fun it is after you're over lvl 60, or 70.
DE's have a few nice Repeatable quests that you can farm till you either bleed from your eyes or the mobs turn blue and it's no longer proffitable (XP/Mob drops), which at that point you move on to higher level mobs.
Also, being that you're brand new to the game, keep doing those repeatable quests and trying to save up every bit of Adena and Drops you get would be very beneficial to you when you hit higher levels and need Millions of Adena to gear out.
Also, the Grocery keeper sells a Book called "Adventurer's something" don't remember exact name, but that can help you out a lot with quests locations, maps, etc.
PS: Since you rerolled into a Human Mystic(2nd char), you might consider scrapping BOTH toons and going to a different server. Reason being, since that DE fighter is over lvl 6, he/she alone on your current server is qualifyed for Newbie Bonuses. (Ie: Equipment Upgrade, hour long Buffs, etc)

PS you know this logic goes out the window in about 1 to 2 weeks after the new patch on the PTS hits live!!!
all charater on any acc thats 25 and below can use the newbie manager thingy.
Human mages is a nice way to go.
Is the OP planing to go necro, scor (don't do it), or warlock (WK)?
Hang in there, like many other games out there, L2 does get better as you get higher lvl.
Ofc geting to higher grounds in L2 is not easy, it will demand of you many hours and alot of patience.
But when u get there, you will be very proud of your achivements.
I believe someone as already talked about that special adeventurer guide you can buy in a gracery shop. If u can, do so....
I only recently used one and i was very impressed at all the goodie info stored away in there, its really great.. It will hlp you find mobs u can hunt around the lvl u are curently, as well as quest info an some other stuff.....
Start with that and stick with the repeatable quests, that was another good idea previously suggested.
Dont sell mats n save up ur adena, D grade will be just around the corner and money is key in this game in order to acquire better equipment.
Best of luck to ya,
Cheers!!
PS No one should pay a second tought to some of the rude posters/comments that seam to find there ways in alot of posts., theres plenty of civilized ppl left that will hlp with info, without going crazy.........
Dear New Player,
Welcome to L2!!!! Ignore posts that degenerate into nothingness.
Jute's guide to new folks is very, very good.
The short answer to your question--especially regarding DE is "Yes, at lvl 10 you have a couple low quests that are repeatable and that's what you should be doing".
If I recall your weapon quests don't come till level 12.
Gaining exp at level 1-20 is "mini-grinding". At lvl 53 I kill a mob for 13,400 exp and get 0.11 exp. I'm told at 61, 70+ etc. it is much, much slower.
Some tips, huh?
Kk--here goes:
1) kill green mobs (ONLY) till your sick of them.
2) save every adena (run, don't port to close hunting areas)
3) don't group before lvl 20
4) stay in starter area till you hit first class change at 20.
5) read guides/library/etc. on this forum and others--there are a couple of great sites out there.
6) expect to be killed, don't "flag" back (return hit) unless the other player is in NG gear too. Make the other player turn RED if they aren't already. One exception, if they are already red--you might as well take a few shots.
7) Buy good weapon before you worry about better armor.
8) Get lvl 12 weapon free from weapon quest--even if it's just to sell it. You have 2 weapon quests for DE--eldritch dagger and whatever class you're playing. Do both.
9) Killing greens means no soul shot use--but go ahead and use the free Newbie NG shots--you'll get thousands and probably wont use them all before lvl 20 anyway. Once you have to BUY shots--try to do without them for awhile if possible (they are like Cocaine).
10) Kill green mobs
11) Keep all low level mats (iron ore, silver, coal, charcoal, etc)--put them in your warehouse till you've played long enough to know what they are worth! Eg. you may think getting "500 adena for an animal bone" is 'good'. It's not--they are worth 3-4 times that on most servers--each.
12) Ask questions of others, be nice in chat, give someone else a hand if you can--this is a SOCIAL game and as you level you'll need friends and playing companions.
13) Learn each set of mobs--learn manuever--learn how to pull--generally it's best to kill the aggro first, run them away from social mob helpers if you need to. Think while you're 'grinding'---the idea is to learn techniques PvE that make it faster, easier, more efficient to kill mobs. EVEN IF YOU JOINED L2 TO PVP--you have to level PvE!!!!
I'm sure others can add to this. My 2 cents. Not much advice about L2 is "always true".
Enjoy the journey.
Just to add to Drakkos's post, use your newbie tokens and port to the other starting areas and do all the quests there that you can. On Talking Island you can do the wolf quest repeatedly. Check here (http://lineage2.stratics.com/content/library/quests/index.php?view=lvl) for a great list of all the quests available and their rewards.
You guys are fantastic! (all of you!) Just wanted to say thanks, you've helped me a lot.. I have to decide now whether it's worth a Re-Roll on a diff server or to stick with my mage with no noob benefits.. :(

In two weeks there will be a patch that will most likely give you noob benefits.
But quite frankly, when I started THERE WEREN'T ANY NOOB BENEFITS!
Our noob benefit was finding a way around the pk'ers standing outside of the west gate of dark elf village.
I really wouldn't fret it. If you like your server and you like your mage just stick with it. I got to 75 and never used a noob beneift. Quite frankly, until lvl 40 I never used Blessed shots. And there weren't SA's for weapons or tattoos to alter your stats.
We ran everywhere (up hill both ways... see other thread :) ) and if you were a human on Talking Island? You would come to the boards and beg high lvl players to come and help police the island as groups of Higher Red Players would hang out there and slaughter the lower lvl players without mercy.
So no worries. If you like where and what you are and you like the game, you will do fine. ;)
