Is there communication between the developers?

I'm curious if the developers of the game actually play the game itself?

Reason I'm asking this is as I talk to the newbie helper in the village, there are times when the npc says that you should be using a certain weapon at certain times as you level. Now I take that as a decent indicator of what the game expects to some degree of the damage and creatures you should be fighting. Yet when I look at that and the price of items of stores and money drop rates from cretaures I wonder if the people that write this dialogue and the developers that set the prices on items even talk or even play the game they are creating.

The two just don't match up at is what I'm seeing. The weapon the npc says I should be using cost far more then I can afford and by the time I can it most likely will be telling me I should be using something else or it's expected I should be using something else. Now I understand one has to farm money and level most likely will come as a result but that still ends up the same problem. When you can afford something you should be using something above it but can't afford that.

Or should I really not be paying this any attention?

Fighter seems like the wrong way to go if this is going to be the case from now on. Perhaps I should have tried a magic class.
At level 20 you should have at least a ~100k weapon like Throwing Knife and the best nongrade set like Wooden Set. I would recommend to run all available quests to earn money. Dark Elves have good starter quests and Elves also. Plus Orcs, Dwarves and Humans should be able to do most of the Elven Quests.

If you have trouble collecting money I would advise to even delevel. If you have to less money after level 20 you will get frustrated early* and tempted to get Adena from illegit sources.

* It really sucks to see any other player with glowing overenchanted weapon and top gear. Also you are bad leveling with a weak weapon and have to rest often.
That's the goal at the moment. Trying to save up enough. I thought things were frustrating in other games. Gives me a whole new appercaition of them though. Well at least I didn't have to pay more then $20 for the game and can always come back if I don't stay after the free month. At least I tried out the game finally to get a first hand expereince at it. Nearing 20, so will see if things pick up.

Since all characters below 25 seem like they are getting to take advantage of the newbie options with the new patch I might just work on trying to pass down equipmetn to another character to allow them to have an easier time and might progress easier as a result.
What server are you on?

Also, I think you should join a clan's academy before you make any decisions abou this game.

My first Sword of Miracles was gotten with the help of my clan. In this game clans are very important. You actually relay on your clan. They aren't just some large group that helps you get a party. They have your back. They show up in case you drop gear when you die (though this will change soon as there will be no dropping of gear if you are "unchaotic" after the next patch).

If someone is ks'ing you your clan shows up and takes care of them. They help you with mats.

This game is primarily about the people and their interaction. So, having said all that, any clan worth its salt will be able to help out a dedicated new player.
One extra word, if you're an Orc, there are really good repeatable quest in the starter area that pay 5,000 - 7,000. Do those over and over, until you're in low-mid 20s. The quests on the mainland in your 20s aren't nearly as good. For that matter, if you're another class, you could always go over to Orc area for a couple of levels.
The other people are right, try to find a good clan early, help them, and let them help you in return. It makes all the difference.
the devs made the economy so high for ONE reason: they dont expect you to outright level 1-75 without dying.

death = more adena farming on same level mobs = more adena PERIOD.

so instead of powerlevelling, try just levelling. you may find, you get the **** knocked out of ya by a mob or two.
Oh powerleveling is not what I'm trying to do.

I will check out the Orc starting town to see what is offered there.

As for a clan I'm still on the look out for one. I did meet a few people a few days ago and then joined their academy after talking with them while waiting for the boat (seemed nice but felt weird being on guard during the time talk, not sure if they were able to attack me or not on the docks) but the number of people on were really low, only 4 including me in the academy. The main clan had 10, all in the 60s. The only person one after that was the clan leader working on an alt in the 30s and no one else. So I left that one. I haven't really meet to many people in game outside of that.

Between hunting and dodging other players (the number I've seen suddenly turn on your and try to attack you is a bit insane at times. Sometimes interesting and fun but not so much when you end up having half your life drop or almost all of it on a single hit) I haven't meet to many people. Some I did meet while in the human village I think might have left the server (on BARTZ) since that talking to place one night while we were in the village and there were a group of pkers hanging around the village. How that is fun is beyond me. Can't wait till I can hunt in other areas, which should be soon.

I figure once the community server is back up finding a clan or academy might be easier, as well as just communicating with people via mail messages. In areas with small amounts of players doesn't seem like it's going to work out for now. Got lucky before.

7,000 quest reward? I know those quests like the back of my hand. And there isn't one of them that reward you with 7,000 :)
Figured it sounded to good to be true.
What race did you go with?
Human

Human

I know for a fact that the Orc bear quest is a orc only quest, and that was the biggest money maker. In the orc town.

The dark elf fungus quest was a nice money maker.
The orc 'Kasha Bear' quest only pays 5K splatter. (At least it did in C4, although if you had the newbie bonus for quests it might net a bit more the first time.)

But overall the Orc quests are the best. Not because they pay a huge amount more than the other races. (Although they are one of the top) But rather because you can do the ones in your level range all at once in one go. Thus you can grind multiple quests at once just by working in one or two nearby areas and most quests have a high and low mob (Imps/Goblins/Werewolves) that allow you to keep a quest active and worthwhile almost the entire way to L20. No other race has quite the selection of quests that work together so closely.
