As some of you may be aware, I started playing Lineage a few days ago, and look to be getting a friend involved too... I first started playing a DE Warrior but it was a too a-typical class for me to play, and I am now playing a Elf Warrior on Franz with the idea of becoming a Silver Ranger.. Is this a decent class to play for a noob such as myself?
Also, my friend wants to play a mystic class, can you recommend one which will work well with my SR? Also, he wants to know if there are any flying mounts or flying abilities in L2!? (He's flying obsessed!)
Last, but not least, are there any Clans on Franz which would be willing to take on a new player to help learn the game and give some experience too? (Academy?)
Archers are always wanted, its not a cheap class to play though. As long as you like to kite, you cant go wrong with an archer, may seem complicated, but its actually quite straightforward.
The best mystic to play with an archer is a Prophet or Shillien Elder as they provide buffs, which will help lvl faster and safe shots and potions.
Although those are defensive mages, a nuking mage like a Spellhowler-Necro-Sorcerer-Spellsinger is another option.

They are not the most uberpowered class, but they are still an archer class and can be quite good yes. Just know how to play and you will put up more then a good fight.
to your friends question, there are wyverns in the game. however, only castle lords and clan leaders holding certain siegeable halls can access them. there was also some discussion here (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=general&Number=729861&pag e=2&fpart=all) regarding a new race which will possibly be implemented during the next chronicle. All of the created races according to Lineage lore (http://www.lineage2.com/background/legends02.html) have been introduced as playable characters with the exception of the arteias (a winged, rather ethereal sounding race of flying creatures). Whether we'll ever see them, or if they'll "fly" in the truest sense of the word though is pure speculation.
SRs are great in PvP and PvE. We have great speed, evasion, atk speed, crit rate and self buffs(great for soloing at lower levels), and ,imo, look great in majestic armour :).
HEs(hawkeyes) are the most powerful archer class(that being most hp and atk power). But like I said, don't count out the SR :)
:edit: just wanted to add about the comment eariler. archers are very expensive...don't plan on making adena with an archer till later levels. I'm lvl 74 and I have less than 10mil total (and up to 70ish, i had no more then 2mil at any point)
