Just a general thought. There are loads of recipes that can be either dropped or spoilt (especially at NG - D) which although fun to start to learn to craft with are essentially useless. One of the ones I've had loads of recently is White Tunic - does anyone use one of these?
I'm just wondering if it would be better to change the spoils/drops slightly so that items that are never used/required are removed and items that are of more use (mainly mats) are put in it's place.
I'd be interested to know what recipes other people have actually crafted that are not the norm and were they profitable in any way. I know they can be sold at the shop but is it worth all the effort. Do you ever sell them to other players?
This is just a discussion steming from curiosity so no flaming please.
If it's top D and you can't buy it in the store - keep it.
If it's close to top and you can't buy it in the store and it's a popular set (e.g. brig helmet) keep it.
Else NPC it.
- If it's very cheap to create, resulting in cheap crystals (say, D-crystals for 400a each, or C-crystals for 2300a and so on), keep it. Set up a buy shop for the keymats, and gather all of them your clan can find.
- If it's top or near-top and buyable D- and C-grade, but you can create it considerably cheaper than buying it from an NPC shop would cost, keep it and use the crafts to equip alts and Academy members and graduates.
I was more interested to know if anyone has ever crafted the odder recipes (like the white tunic that I have millions of recs for). Like everyone else I keep the valuable and useful recs but it's the others I'm asking about. If people don't bother with them then I can't see why NC waste the game space (even tho small) for something pointless.

Those recipes where valuable in Prelude-C1-C2 when people still found it normal to use next to top gear and when buying that gear in the shops was too expensive.
Now, most of us don't bother with those recipes anymore, and you do better just selling them to the NPC shop.
Those recipes were also valuable to making money when the main materials dropped at a decent rate. I used to craft at times (after setting up buy shops) anywhere from 4-10 Dark Stockings/White Tunic sets a week for cheap D crystals. Since I spoiled/seeded for my own mats, my crystal cost was extreamly low. Since C4 and the ridiculous drop rates, I think I've crafted 5 or 6 "sets" (Maybe like 3 tunics and 8 or 9 stockings) because the main material is so rare now.

Due to the still irritating recipie book limits and the fact that your recipies are destroyed when/if you remove them *sigh* Whole other debate of course... but because of that I odn't keep d grade anything in.. it's all key mats, higher quality c armors, and then b,a,s recipies.... I just don't have the room to be a complete solution, and can't afford to go looking for multiple stacks or recipies to "swap out" if I need to have it in my book to craft one. And I refuse to use up another char slot for a second dwarf... I could seriously have like 3-4 dwarves as craft mules for things due to the recipie book limitations... but yeah.. I sell that stuff. When mat drops were more common I WOULD have concidered the brig stuff, but seeing mats around for those are rare for me now.
well my rule of thumb is usually what makes u decent money with the least amount of work.
Im at 60+ now on my WS and on top of that ive got alot more room in my book then i remember having, so it as only the good sellers for any of the grades.
Exception being lvl 8 crafts, but thats becuz theres alot of recipes worth puting in ur book at that lvl.
The weird almost unknown recipes are usually better sold then kept in ur book.
OP mentions white tunic, well i havent seen many fabrics being sold for that, so if its the case i dont keep it.
It could be that for the OP's example im to high lvl now, but i dont rmember seing them at that lvl when i was there.....
I think u will need to juggle until 60+ to put good recipes in your book and removing some. After 60, u endup with alot of room if you do all the recipe book lvling...
Like someone else said, if you can buy it in a shop it's worthless. If it's not TOP D trash it, unless you are shooting for a special look or something. ie: C grade rind leather armor has zero set bonus so no one wants to bother but people like me make it for the challenge (and it's hot looking).
I keep a number of the odder low recipes on my #2 crafter to make and crush for crystals. White tunic is one of those, I may just make a couple a month but that is virtually free d-crystals.
When I am selling anything and get close to a negotiated price, I always say 'Well, you got any odd mats u dont need u wanna throw in?" I often end up with key mats for these unusual crafts, people like to clean their warehouses and they feel that they are getting a deal on what I'm selling, and I get free key mats for making crystals...kinda how the economy is supposed to work (and another reason that the L2 economic system is far better than auction houses/money only systems).
In summary, your main crafter probably won't have slots for these. If you have subsidiary crafters then they can be useful recipes.

NCSoft must develop the game to support the play of new people who do not get help from their buddies. This is certainly true on the new server. So yes, those useless recipes are needed, just not on the old servers.

Not completely relevant being as you will receive the same drops and spoils no matter what server you are on. I asked if people craft them and is seems some do. All I'm asking is a relevance to them. I'm one of the rare few who will pick up those bone arrows - sell them for 1a each - 2000 sold 2k I didn't have before. I'm not saying they should all be gotten rid of only those that no-one bothers with. If players do craft them then they have a purpose.
