We hope you enjoyed the recent medal collecting event! Please place your votes below and reply in this thread with specific comments to let us know what you thought about this event. Thank you!
It was a great event. You could gather for alot of good stuff. The only issue is that the values vs the market values were out of wack, which made most people aim solely for the soul crystals and nothing else.
I played as much as I possibly could, and didn't quite get enough medals for the party mask, which was my only goal really. Had to buy 73 medals. I think the drop rate could be upped a little bit. I'm not saying that you should be able to collect enough medalsfor anything you wanted, but 833 medals should not be hard to get. I don't know if I was particularly unlucky, it just seems like I got very few medals.
better prizes. IE: feather hat; would be supper nice to get...too hard to get one ingame as is.
Not being able to convert glittering medals to normal medals is very agravating! a 1:2 raito would be nice. 1 glittering for 2 normal, since those glittering where fairly rare, and getting enough medals for a soloer non-claned is near imposible.
You have friends, don't you? I gave all my glittering to a friend, and let him level up his membership, and I'd give him my medals, and he'd get me what I wanted from the event cat. "It's a multi-player game" ;)
Oh, I would just like to say THANK YOU for finally making the drop rates of medals not be time-based. It's very frustrating on other events when you can't always play primetime and the drop rate is just awful.
I didn't manage to hunt even close to the number of medals I needed, but I bought the rest and earned over a 50% discount on the soul crystals I desired compared to pre-event prices so I was quite happy with that.
well I got some from one of my friends that didn't like the event so just gave me all her medals.
but by the end after all my hunting, and her medals I got about 1600, and 4 of 5 membership. then I had 18 glittering and 4 medals left over after I spent 85% of them on QHP...and the rest on 3 EW/D. leaving me with 4 medals unused.
This event was pretty much perfect. The rewards was good compared to the time it took to get the medals. Only complain is that it should have lasted a little longer.
medal events all the time, well the rewards re good but i liked to see a new event like this, instead of drop and able to sell the medals,i liked to see an event with better rewards and the dropped/or items gained by killing sertain mobs would be non sellable-drobable.
I actually liked the event, it was just right amount of work needed to get the rewards, this year the gf and I aimed for a stage 11 crys for her elem sword which needed 5k medals I think? we got nearly 3800 medals on our own and bought the rest so i would say thats one hella cheap stage 11 lol, and we also from our own work only we got both of us to the higehst badge of this event.. with leftover glitterings, lol. But then again we spent Alot of time on this event to try and reach our goal... for myself there was nothing i was interested in so we pitched all our efforts into our badges and the stage 11. <3 poles+pronghorns for medalhunting :D
I liked the event and was finally able to get a stage 12 blue for my SoM. I had to buy most of the medals to do it, but at least it cost less than the 120m the farmers were selling.
Sadly, I forgot to turn in all of my medals before the event ended so now I've got a few hundred in my warehouse.

The mechanics of the event were fine, and the story (yes there was a story of sorts) was appropriate enough to get the job done.
My only gripe about this is that there need to be more options for prizes, as well as some mannor of scaling the returns with level.
As the event stands now a low level character will essentially be able to farm the same amount of quest medals as a high level, meaning their chances for a reward are the same.
Add in more lower grade items cheap, c, b jewels for instance. Make these cost a reasonably achievable amount of medals for the average player who can only play 2-3 hours a night and possibly more on the weekend at most. The idea for an event is to allow people to get rewards, everyone should be a winner... just some more so than others if they spend the time/money. Add in level 13 crystals and s jewels.. heck, even some epics, and make them cost an arm and a leg.
But as far as scaling goes.. since the upper level rewards are meant to cost more, higher level mobs should drop more medals. The c,b,a,s jewels should be acehievable by solo characters of the appropriate level with modest play time (single jewel, not a whole set).
They want more items, or one of the big prizes (sa crystals, epic jewels) they need to either spend a considerable amount of time farming, spend a lot of adena purchasing medals, or recruit the help of friends.
This leaves all items obtainable by those who have a use for them, enchants, potions, etc are still obtainable, and if a high level chooses to buy lower level stuff.. who cares? But a low level will have no real ability to legitimately buy the high level stuff because their selection of mobs does not facilitate it.
For me and those I have talked with about this event:
The [drop rate] vs the [duration] vs the [cost of rewards] was too low.
It played out more like a regular quest than it did an 'event'.
In short, the poor and casual got screwed while those with money to buy medals or unlimited time *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* were the ones who got anything significant from the event. That being things they couldn't get from just a bit more grinding normally.
I believe I got slightly more from the last 'squash' event than this medal event. (1 EWB and 2 EAD from the medal event, and 1EWB, 2 EWD, 3 EAD and a double handful of potions and consumables from the squash.)
So while I try to 'participate' in these events, they are turning out to be more of a 'randomly activated item quest' than any sort of incentive or reward for playing the game. :(

Yeah, I wish there were more events where the rewards would be unique - and I'm not talking about stuff that lasts for a few minutes only like L2day scrolls or Christmas trees, either. :)
For example: What about a "Rebuild the farms!" event, where clans can try to rebuild a random farm out in the woodwork (there are enough of them in a ruined state scattered through the lanscape already) and claim them as a permanent clan hall afterwards?

What a great idea! Even if the farm didn't offer normal clan hall perks this would be awesome.
I enjoyed this event very much! By selling and exchanging
medals I finally got enough adena to purchase a Titan Hammer
and enchant my Mithril armor set to +3, and my character
gained 3 levels doing so (I know, it's not much, but I have fun).
The upcoming Omega event is totally different though, more like
gambling. Isn't this rather risky for lowbie players who don't
have much adena? I was hoping for another squash/pumpkin
type event since Halloween is approaching. Or maybe some
flavor of Thanksgiving event about turkeys. :)
the only thing is I though the event was wayyy to short, if the drop rate of the metals were better then yeah the 2 weeks was jsut right but I only know of 3-4 people (not including the farmers) that acually got 10K metals without help and they said that it was a group effort to get that many, so if this event comes out again either extend it some or make the drop rate better :P
I was getting 400-500 medals on a good grind day, perfect event, good rewards and a high drop rate which is what we all look for. Also it was great to get some items that are much more needed, stage 11/12 QHP etc, rather than l2day scrolls. Great event.
Enjoyed it, bagged 2000 medals between my gf and I, and got 90% of all our gear on all our characters to +3. The difference that makes to us "normal gamers" is astounding :)
I second the "the backstories are just so random and inconsistent that I never bother reading them" notion.
The event was ok, but the rewards were horribly unbalanced. All other rewards gave you about 1/4'th of adena per medal ratio than that of SA's. It was just dumb to get an EWA or something.
Mistryl i think it wouldbt be a BAD idea, to have some gm's control some monsters who auto assist off him? such as you have 3-4 gm's who get on some chars for 20-30 mins on each server with about 20 mobs behind each of them, each droppoing DECENT items
Maby even turning up at a siege like Rune castle with it, to take it back for the NPC's that would be amazing, something fun like that would own :)
In the end, the medals are way too hard for normal players to get, the raid boss events always are just for higher level clans or zergs
The ones where you have one "Boss" and Minions that drop decent stuff like the brezes and bsoes is ALWAYS good, because at least normal players can get the drops, oh and the encahnts and stuff off it also.
We would much rather that type of stuff. I remember when i was a Guide for Everquest, we used to actually have Planners for these types of events on each server through our guide system, maby you might put it to your bosses that you actually take surgustions and implement the best one, hell maby even make it a competition with prizes.
TBH, the new event atm also is terrible, its only for people who have money and really the mask and horns is the only thing people care about and that they got given out by others.
the crystals are impossible to get, maby 1/1000 chance if that.
If you honestly believe that an event should give lowbies 100+ million adena, you're really being very very silly.
No, no, nooo....if anyone is still a lowbie after 2 years of playing L2, giving them 100M is just a small compensation for playing the game for so long completely legit in a non-hardcore way!
(I accept the 100M in Materials, Adena, Ancient Adena or items. tyvm. =D )
