gustin has long been known as one of the best manor systems around but recent changes have made me think about what makes a good manor set up
for starters the general rule on gustin was that fruit was bought back for more than the cost of seeds
e.g fruit cost 800a
crops bought for 1000a
thats pretty much irrelevent in most cases since you usually pull in 4x your expences anyway but recently the manors are more often set to fruits for 2k and crops bought for say 1k
the aspect im more interested in in the global increase of all fruit and crop prices
i always thought that the manor system would be more efficient if fruit and crops where greatly increased in their yield
for instance: instead of selling fruit for 100 adena and buying back for 100 adena spending a total of 100,000 adena for say 10,000 bones
we would instead have fruits for 10,000 adena and buy back at 10,000 adena spending 10 million adena for fruits and getting say 1 million bones
bit of an extreme example im sure and i realize there is a cap to both seed price and crop price but im just wondering from a castle standpoint what impact would this have for you?
Would suck for the castles, because you can turn in to any manor.
So people will buy seed in a different territory, farm it there, and sell you the crops. So you get none of the seed money, and your crop buyback price would be so high you'd lose money by crafting the enchant scrolls/etc.
Even at normal seed/crop prices, the castle loses money pretty fast; taxes and seeds can't cover the crop buying cost, at least not on the normal castles. The income on the enchant scrolls is needed to keep cash flow positive. That means you need to be able to get the enchant scrolls for less than the market value, and less by enough that you can make back the money you lose. Which means you can't put crop values too high.
You don't make much money on selling the seeds anyway, so the best setup is to sell at your buying price - or not sell any seeds at all (although I'm not sure if you can set up crops, then). If your seeds still don't sell, get your clan and alliance to buy and use them ... or suck up the (little) loss.
The rewards for the seeders do get better the higher the seed level is, usually. On Teon for example, the "best" seed is Desert Coba (level 76) at reward 2, yielding just above 10k adena in mats per crop. Second best is Sea Coba (79), reward 2, and Golden Coba (73), reward 1. On the other side, the worst seeds are all at low levels: Dark, Red and Chilly Coda (levels 10, 13 and 16) have at best a return of 360a per crop, at worst 70a.
