I just started playing a BD a week or so ago (thank you academy) and I haven't a clue about how dances and MP work. I currently only have 2 dances but they say that cost 60 MP. However, if I use one, my MP drops by a little over 100 MP. I haven't look at using both dances yet since I didn't need the second one where I am. Thanks in advance! :D
No, it costs more MP if ANY dance OR song is active.
Each dance/song the BD or SwS has on them increases the cost of adding another song, even if they are flashing.
Essentially the dance costs 60 + 40*N, where N is the total number of active songs and dances on your character.
It's why when you have both a BD and SwS in the party, you need to be very careful about the order of songs/dances so that both members regen the mana spent in about the same time.
Assume you have a BD & SwS, and you do 2 dance - 2 song - 1 dance.
the cost of dances/songs is dependant on the number of active songs/dances:
0 active = 60mp
1 active = 90mp
2 active = 120mp
3 active = 150mp
4 active = 180mp
...etc. usually you will only have to worry about have 4 active songs/dances already. At lvl 58 a bladedancer can do 3 consecutive dances first and keep mp stable, at around 62-64 you can do 3 dances and let a sws dance in before you 3rd and still keep mp stable. At 72+ you can do 4 dances and.... you will have figured it all out by then :O
Have you tried a 3rd dance? That should cost 140mp then...
I'll do so tonight. I was having bad disconnection issues (are their good disconnection issues) last night. I'll definitely try it. At least I now know that it costs more to dance the same dance so it's best to wait until it's gone (I'm currently only using one dance). Thanks everyone for clearing this up for me!
Well from my personal experience, you don't just spam away your dances, but use the ones that are approriate for the party/location/Pve-Pvp you are in.
FE in a cata at 46 you better use Fire and Light, but when hunting on alligator island you better use Fire-Accuracy dance...
