OMG the SE is fighting back!!

Since C5 has happened my BF has noticed an oddity with his boxed SE. If he hits anyone (not war tags) eg messing about with a clannie and turns purple his SE will run up to him and hit him with her staff. It's very funny to watch as it's not something he controls and she only hits him once. Just wondered if anyone else's boxed characters do the same thing.
It's the frustration of the boxed SE that comes out and tries to stand up against his master...

j/k

No I haven't seen or heard this before.
Well, if he is using the usual "autofollow" macros like

/target xyz
/attack

or

/target xyz
/target xyz

(where xyz is the name of his main character) then, yes, his buffer will attack him if he flags. But this is nothing new, this has always been the case. The thing called "autofollow" is nothing more than ordering the second character to attack the first one, but then the attack does not happen because you did not use "forceattack". But if you flag, the second character does not need forceattack to attack.

(I think there are some restrictions though, like that the AF character only attacks if he is not in the same party)

So if you want to lvl your level 10 academy noob and have your lvl 78 prophet with A grade weapon on autofollow, better don't flag on your noob or your prophet will get a free pvp point ;)
It did this before c5. AFing is basically just spamming attack on a target the AFer can't hit. When people flag and they aren't tagged or in party, (when you don't have to hit control to hit them) it allows those attacks to occur.
I've noticed my nightshade does this if i spam the heal button faster than he can heal. he'll run up towards the person between heals.
That sounds like the process he uses so that answers the question. I'm guessing he has changed how he uses her since C5 because she didn't do it in C4.

unless that process was botting in C4 and legitamately boxing in C5 then no
as far as i can remember anyone on autofollow that isnt in party will smack you in the back of the head when you flag

to avoid this after you flag dont move, its only when you run away from the person autofollowing that it triggers the attack
The simple solution?

Fishing poles.

You can't hit people with fishing poles, so naturally, even though the SE will TRY to hit your boyfriend, she won't be able to. :p

im meant to be the logic guy why didnt i think of that?
could be worth the -15% cast speed to stop my se getting dropped every time there is a random pvp
This is noting new at all, I can recall it got added in an patch around mid C3. Aka when sombody didnt need to hold CTRL to attack a flaged person.

Plus worth to mention that this dosnt hapen all the time either.
It's not my idea - I picked it up off a post by a four-boxer showing his clients, and explaining why he had all his buff-slaves on fishing poles. ;)
ive always jst doubleclicked on my main with my buffers, to make them actually FOLLOW me instead of being in a perpetual stance of trying to kill me
but fishing poles can really hurt if the buffer sticks them to some ones eye.

Great, tnx.

same thing
/target and /attack will have the same result
if you flag so do they

If you put the boxed buffer into your clan/alliance, they won't automatically attack you once you're flagged/red.

Besides.. SE casting speed sucks even with an acumen weapon..
yea i had my SE kill my TH.
was outside Dion killing a bot I had seen there like 6 months back, so I got p*ssed and killed him, after that my SE hit me 3 times and I died :(

If you don't have any wit tattoos yes... But SE can actually get quite nice casting speed - for a price. Like tallum robes, +5 wit and acumen weapon (it's even decent without acumen weapon).

As a healer, I don't know how many time that I have had to remove fish hooks from elf ears.
