I don't like the part where soul crystals 7-10 will be sold in the lux shop. I would have thought they'd sell level 5 then let you grind it up. Also it was a great source of cash. Now it will be sold and the higher levels use B CRYSTALS. This means the price of B crystals will go even higher as farmers will start using them to buy level 10 crystals for leveling up.
The Summon Friend skill, which enables a Summoner to summon party members, has been added. Elemental Summoners, Phantom Summoners, and Warlocks can acquire this skill at level 56. Spellbooks can be acquired as drops from monstersand at the Magic Store of Rune Township and the Town of Goddard. These items are sold at a certain time at a certain rate.
I dislike how they didn't mention at what point in time they'll be available..
Other than ES summon friend skill, I'm not overly happy or unhappy about any aspects of this patch. Things like Spirit Ore weighing less is nice since most classes have something or other for them to be used.
But like with CP pots weighing less, that's nice, but it's just that many more than my enemies can carry too, so it benefits them just as much as me. :)
The seperate debuff bar is nice, though I'm sure some classes that debuff others will find it as annoying (when they're hoping to cancel others' buffs in pvp) as they do helpful to themselves.
However working for the extra 4 buff slots will probably be well worth the work, just curious what the quest is that has to be done and if it costs anything, like enchanting skills does.
Still curious to how nice/annoying the whole death thing is going to be after this. And hopefully the benefits to Dusk/Dawn winning will hopefully bring back some of the competition again, at least on Hindemith where it comes and goes, but mostly none.
The beast farm quest where reward is changed from adena type to item type is interesting. I'd be interested to find what items it will give. Maybe just mats but hopefully something nicer.
dislike the "no drop for non chaotic"....
I have more to loose than the bots i train, nonetheless, i liked it when there was a chance to make them loose something.
I also see this as a new nerf on fake death ... let's bring back the success rate of fake death to 100% please ?
When owned by Dawn: Same as before (no changes are incurred); player restarts in the second nearest village.
When owned by Dusk: A clan that has participated in a siege restarts from the first town at the time of escape and death.
When Strife is not owned: A clan who has participated in a siege restarts in the first town at the time of escape or death.
...
So, if strife isn't taken, everyone respawns at the closest town? Eg: Giran siege, everyone respawns IN GIRAN, instead of in HV?
Methinks this will cause a lot of castleholders to go for strife..
no items drop = bot groups will run around with high lvl gear, they will farm twice as fast and effectiv. and they will be able to handle big trains.... :(
I oppose the non chaotic mob drop on death.. like a previous poster said.. this will enable the automatic friends to lvl w/o worries anymore. training them will only help them stay in lvl range for the area they farm as they now have nothing to deter them form returning constantly as they did when they died to legit players dealing with a problem in-game as we are always told to do.
Sure we would still have the chance to drop gear also.. but I'd rather live and die with that risk then this patch.
But like with CP pots weighing less, that's nice, but it's just that many more than my enemies can carry too, so it benefits them just as much as me. :)
It's mainly a nerf for dwarves, specially as everyone can carry tons of more of them now, also the HP pots, since they ain't % based its' another nerf for dwarves and a BIG boost for nukers. One pot and 80% of your HP healed, for a normal melee around 30%.
Every patch comes with a passive nerf to the worst class in game. Kind of sad.
Well, I'm kind of half way on the no drop on death thing. Its good for me, but I will miss gate sitting waiting for our suicidal friends to drop me something!
cp pots reuse timer halved -> ppl with money spam them twice as often
cp pots reduced to 1/5 weight -> ppl with money buy 5 times as much
=> pvp being even less skill based as before (it was barely barely a tad skill based, but mostly based on your irl paycheck already) and making it virtually predecided based on how much this game is worth to people
combine this with having almost all new skills in c5 cost spirit or soul ore for every cast AND the absolutely redicilous port costs, and i can draw no other conclusion that they WANT us to ebay money
everything is so redicilously expensive, and even in high levels you need hours of non ss to make back just a few ports
granted, 95% of all players purchase their adena, but a few of us dont
and dont give me that crap about "play the market", this only helps drive the prices up further, and the money you get doing this is dirty anyways
i kinda like the no dropping of items feature though, the girefers crying they cant train bots any more train real players more anyways, for those sweet A grade items
and if a botter looses one of his c items it hurts him almost nothing, whereas a real player loosing their a grade helmet is cause for quitting the game
who cares if the bots they do nothing about anyways can farm a bit more effectively

No dropping items on death - however - see dislikes.

No drops on death as I feel this will protect bots even more than before. There is no point training them now unless they are in my leveling area - but then it is difficult to train them or pk them. But then I turn red and then I can drop things - go figure...
All the characters under level 25, regardless of whether they are new or not, are eligible for newbie benefits:
* Weapons and armor exchange
* Newbie buffs
* Soulshots/Spiritshots for Novice
This is what's bothering me the most. But only because I was gonna wait till this was implemented with making my new toon, but lost patience and now it's 20+ and won't really benefit from this anymore (no empower).
For those of you who are saying that bots will be more efficient now that they can have better gear - go train them a few times, and they won't be if they get the death curse.

Well, they can still carry those scrolls to get rid of the death curse..

But if they get the curse often enough there will be a permenant interference on their general botting to stop and cast the scroll - won't it also cost the person responsible for the bots in-game money for the scrolls (not read up on these scrolls yet so forgive me if that's wrong)

Just how many time are they gonna die with not very many ppl training them? I knwo they will still de-lvl themselves but if they get a de-buff it only takes a very small amount of adnea to get rid of it. I can't think of any other "change" that helps our lil frineds more then this one. 1st the 15sec grp pick up change now the no-drop when white. This is clearly a huge change that is going to effect this game and in my opinion not for the better.
Time will tell but should my concerns trun out to be true I'll be out of the game too. No big deal for NcSoft I'll just take my $$ for my 2 accounts and go to another game.
The fact that this was implemented without giving dwarves the efficiency boosts on potinos (double efficiency at top level sounds fair) that they deserve is silly, but anything that prolongs PvP is good.
GCPP aren't so expensive that anyone needs to play the Ebay Whine card - especially since more GCPP mean less need for QHP, and those are what is actually difficult to access. =p
I dislike the new hotbars, although I'll be using them. Clicking is a horrible habit and should be discouraged where no quickbars used exactly once every 20 minutes are involved. :p And then only because I tend to eat while I buff.
I see the griefers having to work harder at making people go red so they can try and make them drop gear. Personally, I've never understood how this works (someone makes you so mad that you go red), but whatever. I'm all for not dropping my prrrrrrrecioussss gear.
Yay more things to carry. Death recovery scrolls, shots, SPIRIT ORE, lucky charms (hey, are these worthless now?), normal soe, clan hall soe, castle soe, bsoe clan hall, bsoe... etc etc
Lucky Charms, as per patch notes, now prevent the penalty... but is it worth it with the anti-penalty scrolls so cheap? Doesn't seem so.
How about adding two kinds of crystals, and another three kinds of shots (soulshots, petshots, pet spiritshots) to that list Ellie? Stocking up as a summoner is lovely. :D

Yeah, but again, an idea is not bad JUST because bots benefit from it. I'd be unbelievably ****** if I dropped an A grade helmet or an unequipped A grade weapon just because I got dropped from the server (the ONLY thing that has caused mob deaths in at least six months).
In the end, the legitimate players are the ones hardest hit by gear loss; the bots and the ebayers aren't hurt badly at all by it. This change helps the legit more than anyone else.

It was me who died! so no complaints here :P but yeah it was because I disconnected, had a bunch of mobs on me... and well yeah... not much who can be done except take the 2 hours extra grind needed because of instability of the network NCSoft buy there bandwidth from.
You not suppose to use 3rd party programs to your advantage if you really wanna call urself legit, these means training them. I never train bots for gear, I train them to leave. Now with the death penalty if I keep training them, eventually they will just keep killing themselves after their healer rezes them...and the penalty will keep stacking until they can't farm anymore. Actually I think this a good blow to those who like to farm when away from their...house?
The soul crystal idea is kinda dumb!
CP pots...oh well EVERYONE can carry more..so it isn't like there will be huge amounts of difference. This is what some people have been asking for...longer pvp fights.
I pretty much like everything else...or will find it fun to play with anyway.
I dont like it. As a matter of fact I hate the new changes.
I loved the fear of losing your important gear, the death was exciting, the rush to your friend when he/she dropped smth, but now.. meh... even if it is valuable etc it made the game more hard.
Gogo towards GW and WoW.. can we now have horses and flying spirits and maybe resting bonus too?
Are you guys playing the same game I am?
How do you supposedly train these automated 3rd party program types?
Everytime I drop 6-7 mobs they can't handle they instantly disappear. They don't die. Every single time--poof--they disappear.
A minute or two later they come back somewhere else nearby and off they go.
I haven't even seen a successful train since C4 (near EV on a whole group).
I also haven't seen a dead bot for quite a few weeks.
I'm not sure they were being killed in-game anyway---meaning that changes to no drop on death would have zero impact on the little snots.
As for the changes--seems clear dwarves were skunked again.
Letting folks carry more pots isn't something I'd have voted for.
The other's I can't quite see how many of the changes will play out. I'll also reserve judgement a bit.
Generally I do NOT LIKE CONTINUAL CHANGES TO THE GAME that come about cause players whine and complain. I'd like to see the game stay the same for awhile (sigh, suppose that's impossible since whimpy NA adolescents on Ritalin are the #1 subscriber demographic).
i like most of these changes but i prefer to see them in action and judge more clearly.
what i wanna ask the rest of u is, a chaotic player is from PK:1, PK:5 or PK:6 and above? well this might sound o noobish question but i want to make it clear
I will miss trying to get free gear from bots and warred clans, but it is also sweet to know that every time I kill someone in a war they will have to pay $$ to get out from the debuff. I expect the already high level of war-death whining to start getting way worse . . . . I am also glad I can't drop my gear, so overall I like the changes.
Likes: game tips at start, no dropping on death, horns and masks :)
Dislikes: umm, will have to play a bit to see. But that no dropping is a 2 sided coin though.
Likes: trying to remove the ability to trade points in oly, soul/spirit ore weight less
HATES: CP pot re-usetimer decreased. All Low Damage high defensive classes (such as myself) can't kill anyone anymore(in open pvp) cause we won't be able to counteract the CP pot heals.
It's kinda funny seeing everyone screaming about some of the first concerted efforts by NCSoft to curb inflation in a way that actually works.
New event - Take adena from game
Death scrolls - More items to take adena from the game
Carry more CP pots = More PvP, Longer PvP - more adena taken from the game
No drops on death - Bots start wearing best armor and lose a lot more when accounts are banned.
New pots - Longer PvP, adena out of game
The trick is not to increase mats with manor system and such...that's just adena changing hands from one PC to another. The trick to curbing inflation is to cause adena to go to the NPCs...which in this game doesn't...till now. It doesn't work if you still have mass bots running around...hence the mass bannings lately, including a LOT of PC "automatic" characters...to make everyone think they are super serious about bots.
But seriously, got one question...
Blessing of Fire, Blessing of Water, Blessing of Wind, Blessing of Earth, Blessing of Darkness, Blessing of Sanctity
Fire Crystal, Water Crystal, Wind Crystal, Earth Crystal, Dark Crystal, Sanctity Crystal
Blessing of Fire, Blessing of Water, Blessing of Wind, Blessing of Earth, Blessing of Darkness, Blessing of Sanctity
Fire Crystal, Water Crystal, Wind Crystal, Earth Crystal, Dark Crystal, Sanctity Crystal
WTF are these?
The only ones I have seen in game are
Dark Crystal /Sanctity Crystal
Blessing of Darkness, Blessing of Sanctity
The first apparently remove light and dark vortex debuff from you.
The second ones give you the ability to deal damage of the subtype ie like holyweapon.
I would assume the rest are for other elements.
These I have seen in pagan;s temple and Silent MOnestary
I only thing i don't like as it makes the game to easy. Is where anyone under level 25 can get those new player benefits. Those should only apply to a persons first character on that server.
The herb drops are more then enough for us rerolls. Giving everyone Newbie benefits and Herb drops is just to much.

grats on 35 splatter. lemme donate ya some stuff man you look poor.
(i replied to splatter because i agree 105% with his thoughts on this. 4 magic herbs per mob is just too much.)
the following is a list of things i once said were reasons why i liked this game. C5 has basically destroyed them all.
things that make L2 the best game (not just the best MMO). in reverse order of importance, so things i think are most important are at the bottom.
- there is no pause button.
- PvP anytime, anyplace.
- the free, massive, updates.
- a sharp learning curve.
- character customization happens after character creation.
- that you frequently find you have to give up one thing to get another.
- a difficulty level that makes other MMOs to shame.
- the art, the music, the character design.
- the community.
we still dont have a pause button, but if they added it i wouldnt be suprised, after everything they have changed. actually, forcelogging is pretty similar. just like those little pink cards they give you in boot camp, if the commanding officer is insulting you too harshley, you expend one and he/she stops hurting your precious feelings. PvP is completely stupid becasue they turned it into a money sink instead of an experience sink, and the "risk" of dropping items, one of several key concepts that made L2 the hardcore game that it was, has been removed. non-legit players will forcelog and never get the debuff, legit players are forced to PURCHASE items from an npc JUST TO KEEP PLAYING THE GAME (if you drop something, its not the end of your character, if you get 14+ debuffs from deaths that you cant afford to remove, you might as well reroll). as for giving up things, you never have to give up anything, unless you consider people that give up real-world cash to pwn all (which was the case before but is much moreso now). the difficultly level of L2 has been undermined with each new update. the art, music, and character design have essentially not changed after a bunch of suggestions and a bunch of updates. except a couple new lowbie areas with new mobs, but the characters look the same they have always looked. as for the community, may stabby mcstoo rest in peace. NC has shot themselves in the foot enough times, that they seem to have chopped themselves off at the knees. i havent played L2 for two years so that i could continue being killed by people that just keep getting better, with out-of-game advantages, rigged hero status, and demon swords. there is simply no way to compete. they even took away the only ecconomic advantage that dwarves had. suicide.
im currently working on a project to put out a new MMO, one that wont ever turn into complete rubbish. hopefully it will be in beta in time for the next gencon.
