So, I got a sin eater, and was too lazy to waste my XP on it so I kinda forgot about it.. The other day I summoned it and it was 4 lvls lower than my char now, is that a problem? Do I still only have to level it once? Will it still "redeem my sins"?
Actually, I believe if you level it one level (which would make it still less than you in levels), then turn it in, you will NOT lose any PK counts but it will give you a new sin eater that's at your current level.
Yeah, that's what I thought.. So it would be smart to get a sin eater everytime I get 1 PK, and go back to leveling, and when i have 5 it'll be several levels lower than me (I don't PK that much, people look at me funny when I'm red) and it'll level much faster? Interesting.. lol.. I'll try to level it today and I'll let you guys know. Thanks!
You lose PK counts based on [Sin eater's current level] - [Your current level].
You can turn in the sin eater as long as [Sin eater's current level] - [Sin eater's original level] is at least 1.
If you turn in a sin eater and it does not remove all your PK counts, you get a new sin eater whose level == your level.
So, say you're 70, with 5 PKs, and you have a level 60 sin eater.
You level the sin eater to 61 and turn it in. Because 61 < 70, you lose no PKs, and because you still have PKs, you get a new sin eater at level 70.
So you end up at 70, with 5 PKs, and a level 70 sin eater. Now you'd need to level that sin eater at least to 71, before you can actually lose PK counts.

I turned one in that was at least 4 levels below me. It removed 1 PK.
