What is the best duo w/ a DE archer?

Me and my wifey are trying to come up with a good duo for our new mains. She has a DE archer type, and I was going the spellhowler route, but it seems we dont work so well together, cus we wate mp way overkilling the same mobs, and the experience share range seems to be REALLY short, so I dont know how well they will work together.

I am wondering if there are any other classes that might fit really well with a archer type (tho the healer route does not seem good cus I will not be doing much/any damage, so the experience would come REALLY slow it would seem, but I dont know if the buffs make up for it).

Or maybe we were chosing the wrong lvl'n spot, should we go for more 2x and 4x mobs since we do soooo much combined dmg (talking about the DE mage and archer pair). We are both lvl 21 atm, what area would you suggest for this duo to get the max exp from?
At higher levels buffs really matter. I suggest a WC to tank for the archer, they are the best DD of the buffers.

A PP, BD, or SwS would also work well - any support class in heavy armor to tank for and buff the archer.
do WC's have enough good buffs? looking at the skills list i dont see THAT many good buffs from them.
WC has to be very high lvl, like 65+ to get you all the juicy buffs.
WC has all the offensive SE buffs, minus empower/wild magic and plus Haste.

For melee/archers, a warcryer has virtually every buff they need.
wc gets acumen, haste, vr, might, shield, magic shield, greater might, greater shield, deathwhisper, focus, guidance all rolled into 1 class, and the ability to do good melee damage AND the best drain in the game (doing nuker-level direct damage and giving you 80% of the hp back)

WC used to be the best self buffed 1v1 class, but they took a nerf to the mp cost of their drain in c5, so they are less effective now

basically they are prophets with vr who can do melee damage, and have orc level hitpoints

WC is an excellent class, very good for active support class, they arent good for out of party buffers though since you need to level them high to get all the buffs a PP or SE would get much earlier, and they need to be in team to give buffs
i see your points, but it would seem to suck until they get pretty high lvl.
This is somewhat true; their buffs are not as good until higher levels, but their melee damage is lots better than a prophet's at the low levels (or probably any level - I have only played a low level WC). WCs don't have WW which is sad; those are the cheap potions though so it is not too bad.

A prophet might be better (play as a battle prophet) but around level 60 or so the WC is very nice.
Lineage is a game for the long haul. It takes a lot of investment of time to get high and good, so make sure you pick a class you WANT to play. If you want to play an offensive class (that can kill people), stick with the spellhowler. Don't just do something to complement someone else unless you REALLY want to. If you don't just want to sit around, don't be a healer. WC aren't bad, but it's a totally different style and again, you are in the for the long haul to get the good buffs--and it's still a supportive toon. If at all possible, do what everyone else does and get another account and make a SE. You only have to get it to 56 to have most of the buffs you will ever need, as well as recharge the mp of both of you, which you both will need.

Short answer: NO the buffs will not be worth it, and playing support/healer/buffer WILL get boring fast.

I highly recommend you stick with the SH and do what you mentioned, find 2X and 4X mobs. For 2x mobs go to Partisan's Hideaway (I think it's called something else now) north of Pilgrims Necropolis, that's good for lvl 20-30. For 4x mobs go to catacombs/necros (pilgrims and Heretics south of it are lvl 30-40 mobs, lvl 20-30 is the one south of Gludin). And of course, to conserve mp, you only need to nuke one or two times on each mob and let the archer finish off the rest. Or just use Shadow Flare to get the over-hit (and extra xp) to finish off each mob. ALSO to mention: SH are some of the fastest-leveling characters in the game because they hit so hard and can regen their own mp pretty quick, and later you can use death spike which reduces mp use too. So like I said, to get good, you have to get high, and to get high, you need to level fast, so stick with the SH and archer... they both hit hard enough (EVEN WITHOUT BUFFS!!!) to level very quickly.

Believe me, I've played all the mentioned classes. I have a SH, SE, and HE. SE is dead boring, all you do is sit most of the time, but now that I have the SE I can buff myself on the SH, and the SH can actually DO something, which is a lot more fun/interesting. WC is ok at damage, but miles behind a SH, and you also won't be the one getting the pvp points. Someone once said, SH are god at exp, and he didn't mean good, he meant GOD.

But not recharge.... and archers love recharge. Lets not forget the fact that you can use pots for haste. As for acting as tanks for the archer... what's wrong with root?

doing nuker-level direct damage

Lol. Not quite.

thanks for re-affirming what i wanted to hear lol. I love my SH-to-be. And we just went to orc barracks, and the exp from those 2x mobs is just FLYING in lol
Another twist into playing Spellhowler / Archer. My son and I have been duoing as of late. He is playing the archer class and I am spellhowler. I am only high 40's range and he is high 30's. We are both getting descent xp and is much much faster than soloing. The method we use: We find an area that I can nuke mobs in 2 hits or less - without buffs. The areas must also drop the mana pots and other buff pots. I remain stationary to regen my mana faster. He runs off to the distance and grabs 3-4 mobs at a time. He brings them back to my "area" and I nuke them one at a time. He doesn't have to run far to gather them up. This has been fun for both of us. (Note: He is a light elf archer)

Here is the most important thing though - as someone said above - absolutely play the class you want to play. Otherwise you will be bored out of your mind and quit.
yah we both love our classes, I am so sick of playing a healer in mmo's (I have played a healer for almost 6 yrs across 5-6 different mmos lol, i need a break :P)
