Yes it is. This is an open pvp game. The idea is you eventually join a clan/alliance and exact your vengeance.

But things are "nicer" now then when the game first started. You used to get killed all the time by higher level players who would camp city entrances.

Welcome to Lineage 2 :D
happens everyday. deal with it, move to a different spot, level as fast as possible and go after them when you think youre good enough.

otherwise, dont worry about it.

this is an OPEN pvp game. you dont need to flag, or request pvp. it can and most often DOES happen when you least expect it.
What server?
hiya noob! :) be glad it happened today; at least you dont have to worry about dropping your gear now :) you might be interested to note that certain areas in the game have a much higher prevalence of pkers - among them are windmill hill, the hunting area just south of gludin and the hobgoblin area just outside of dion town. typically (at least in my experience) the more easily accessible areas have higher levels of pking. you might want to try exploring some of the more remote places of the map (usually pkers of this sort are going for the easy kills, not looking for people out in the boondocks where they'll have to search for em). good luck!
yeah..feel lucky you started now instead of beta-c2. I spent 1 full day trying to leave elven village cause all of the exits were camped by pkers...good times.
lionna,
i wrote down there names, i will look for them when im higher lvl.
What race/class are you going to be?
im a dark elf, i started on tuesday, im up to lvl 17
Welcome to L2, and come to Erica if you want an exciting server.

As a low level player, you best defense is often not to fight back if they are white or purple (you go purple after hitting a white). If they kill you while your name is white, they will go red. If they go red, they potentially have some significant problems to deal with, so often they will hit you to see if you hit back. If you do, you get killed. If you don't, they wander off...not always, but often.

Once you are in game a while you will develop friendships and probably join a clan. Clans, good ones, stick up for each other. Then if someone hassels you, you call for clan's higher members to come help and they stomp the sucker.

Also, remember that other players are often young, immature and emotional. As a result, the more you trash talk the more fights you get into. If you are mature and avoid bad players then you generally bet to play with much less hassel.
so if i dont hit back, i'll be ok?
and thank you for the greeting.
If you don't hit back, they may still kill you. But at least they don't get the PvP score and they have to deal with the consequences of adding Karma and PK count.

Welcome to the game. It is a good one, not a perfect one.
If you don't hit back, they will go 'red' if they kill you.

There are significant penalties for them if they go red. At low level, you probably will not be able to kill them. Getting them to go red is often the best short-term revenge.

If you are in a starting area (any of the DE lands, for example) there are sentinels, NPCs that randomly spawn and kill 'red' players. The DE lands also have 'bloody pixies' that attack red players (and the 'blight treants' will too, but they are TOO slow to be effective at it.)

Soo.. if you get attacked, run toward the nearest sentinel or pixie. If they kill you and go red, the sentinel or pixie may extract instant-revenge for you. When I was starting out, I'd travel by running from pixie to pixie along the way, just in case a red was following me. (Nasty surprise for them if they weren't paying attention.)
Charge them over and over spamming the chat window with hate the whole time; if you are on the high level servers (not franz) chances are someone will come kill the red for fun and drops. And he won't log cause he'll be having fun killing you, and the exp you'll loose isn't that big a deal at low level.
ty for the help.
i cant spell newb right, lmao
Welcome to the game. Am pretty new myself (one month playing now). The chance of getting killed is there. The question: Are you a bot? too (i have a dwarf as first char). I got killed a couple of times. Once i got killed while being afk for getting myself a beer, lesson was learned quickly although the other player came back to buff me up when i said "Hey this dwarf was thirsty and got herself a beer" He thought i was a bot for not answering back but from that moment on i dont park myself visible again.
Yes, clearly if youre standing still and not answering when spoken to, you are most definitely a bot (especially if youre a dwarf). /rolleyes. Dwarf life can be rough
lol no i wasnt a bot, they chased me down like a dog,
it doesnt happen as much outside of noob areas. Basically, people think its fun to kil people who pose no challenge, once you level enough to get out of Dion, you wont have nearly as many problems.
