I'm relatively new to the game (if you couldn't tell by the subject) and I was just wondering what price mats usually sell for on average. I've collected so many, but the fact that i didn't know what they went for and I didn't want to get screwed over, has prevented me from opening a private shop. Anyways i'll list off what I have:
I've also collected some No Grade and D grade scrolls, and the same goes for them (lol how did you guys learn the economy so quickly?!! :D ).
Scrolls:
Leather Boots, Dark Stalkings, Cord, Waking, Blue Diamond Necklace, Piece Bone Gaiters, Piece Bone Breastplate, Assasins Knife, Hard Leather shirt, Necklace of Wisdom, Necklace of Anguish.
If this is posted somewhere in the forums my apologies, but I did use the search function and have been looking since yesterday before I decided to post. Well thats all the loot I have so far, I've seen a lot of private stores in gludin and gludio selling Mats so I hope I can do the same and make a some adena too :).
go to any npc shop.... sell your mats for double what they will pay with the following exceptions ... crafted leather, bones, coarse bone powder, steel, varnish of purity, stone of purity.
those are the materials that all the higher levels need so charge whatever the next vendor sells for. (find a shop usually in giran)
Waking scroll is junk (useful later on but cheap). The only recipes worth selling in shop are the material ones (cord, for example). Sell the rest to an NPC.
Respectfully, do not sell all other recipes to the NPCs.
It will take a while to sort out L2's delightfully complicated economy, but some recs go for very nice money. For example, I have a dwarf which I frequently use to sell stuff when I am not actively playing (afk). He sells a lot of shots, when I am doing stuff around the house I click on him to craft the shots every few minutes. But I digress....
This last weekend I cleaned out my warehouse a bit, I am quite a packrat. I put the extra recs on the dwarf to sell, including some for brig helms, gloves and tunics. Then I did laundry. The shots sold and the recipes sold, there were 5 of them and the total sales price was just over a million and a half adena.
A week ago I met an alt dwarf who wanted to buy all the low and mid range D-weapon recs I had. Why he wanted them is his business, his adena is now in my warehouse. Yeah, I put my adena in my warehouse to protect myself from my impulse buying habits.
There's a huge difference between recipes for things available in NPC shops (like the OP has) and ones that aren't and for desired items. You cannot compare a recipe for a brig helm to one for leather boots.
[Basic/Advanced Materials]: (Used for crafting/Quests) These include Stems, Iron Ore, Varnish, Silver Nuggets, Asofe, Mold Hardner, Oriharukan Ore and their 'advanced' (crafted) couterparts like steel, Braided Hemp, Mithril Allow, Steel Mold, etc...(too many to list)
+NEVER+ Sell these to an NPC. 2x NPC price is the minimum that everything should be sold for...the least used items may take a little longer to sell, but not much longer. The most used items have a pretty hefty premium so know which ones they are by checking out your servers Giran town shops!
[Recipes] (They are color coded by grade)
NG - White
D - Blue
C - Green
B - Red
A - Purple
S - Black
Material Recipes: For items like Coarse Bone Powder, steel, Molds and Hardners, etc. Most of the can be saved and sold for a fair amount, (50Kish) with one or two being on the NPC immediately list (Oriharukan) or the 'premium' price. (Durable Metal Plate). If you run low on WH space, it's not a big loss to NPC the low end recipes though.
Weapon Recipes: NPC pretty much everything that is NG/D/C and save everything else to sell.
Armor Recipes: NG = NPC'd. Only top of D grade is of any interest since the rest can be bought in stores, but buyers are scarce and some of those recipes are actually pretty common. C grade is mostly the same, but there is a bit of specialty market for some items that can't be purchased in the luxury shop. B grade and up, you can save and sell pretty much everything.
[Key Materials] - Weapon edges and Armor Parts.
Weapon edges - NPC all NG/D/C parts save everything else.
Armor Parts - NG = NPC. Only top D or items not purchaseable in the store is worth anything. (Plate armor, Brigandine HELM pieces, etc.) C Grade, items not purchaseable in the luxury shop are the only things worth saving. There is also a bit of a 'low end' market here, as top of grade isn't the only items that have a market. (Unlike the weapons for this grade.) For B/A/S grades, keep everything to sell.
May I add a postscript to your excellent analysis?
If you have a crafter dwarf to make shots (or if you have a friend who does), it may be worthwhile to craft and crush the mid/low C & D (and even B) items for crystal content.

Unfortunately, the price premium that base materials can be sold for means that the amount of money you can make off crafting to crush/shots is either lower than just selling the base materials or has such a low advantage, that unless you have a ton of mats/key mats sitting around it's just not worth it.
I blame NC for this fiasco regarding how difficult it is to gain base mats and how many are used per higher level craft. Which BTW is why low level crafting takes a double sucker punch to the **** when it comes to cost versus a fully taxed NPC shop.
(Support the Bounty Hunters in their protest of horrible spoils!)
IF you do find that you want to go this route, I strongly suggest avoiding the weapons or Heavy armor. (And some light armors also.) The large amounts of Varnish/Cokes/Steel/Ori Ore that go into them means you lose money not selling the parts seperately. Foot/Shield/Gloves/Helm and Robes that don't require a lot of Crafted Leather are the best choices if you go this route.
I did this with low D cradts. Then it costed at least 20% less to mame the item then the crystals for it costed. But then i was lvling a skavy, so she had abudance of the parts.
One way to find out the market prices is by doing the research on your own. Running thru all the shops in Giran and noting the average prices for all materials(better to stay close to the average than price them at the highest price). Ofcourse, you need to do it regularly to keep up with the market fluctuations and while you're doing the price check, you might also stumble upon some sweet misspriced deals or items that someone is selling at a lower than normal prices just to get fast cash.
