I'm about to work on an idea I have for some fan art. I'm looking for a decent paint program that doesn't cost a lot of money. I know about Paintshop/Photoshop, but IIRC they are several hundred dollars. I have Paint.Net, but it seems a little limited. It's free, so the price is right. I almost downloaded GIMP for Windows (http://www.gimp.org/windows/) for $30 and got a book on it from Amazon. However, before I do that, I was wondering what those talented people out there could help me with. TYTY
i have a 'special' ;) copy of photoshop which is great.
also picked up a copy of Paint Shop Pro 8 a while back for £14.99.. i love PSP8 and ill use it instead of photoshop in most cases just due to its ease of use, it's not limited though.
although PhotoShop has more advanced functions, most of what ull need for a long time u can get with psp.
these wer done is psp8...
IIRC the free GIMP is the Beta. There were special installation instructions they were to mail when you downloaded it, but I never got them. I may just try to install it anyway. Its real hard to beat free.
don't know what stage psp is at now, i know some company bought the software from jasc, should still be able to pick up a copy quite cheap tho.
PaintShop Pro was bought from Corel, unfortunately. I heard that there are now to many features in the current version to keep it easy or even stable.
I like Photoshop Elements 2.0 that had an easy and fast UI. I had no time to test the current release. There should be a free evaluation version available (time-limited).
I have Paint.net. It's not bad, but it doesn't allow you to change number of colors (or resolution I forget which). I did some clan crests in it and had to use MS Paint to make the file meet the requirements.
