On Swordsingers

I was planning on going swordsinger because they seemed like they were the typical dps warrior (as opposed to tank). I liked what I read in the descriptions and planned to go that route down the road but having experienced WoW, I know how decieving those things can be. I have read in a few other places that Swordsingers and Blade dancers are little more than buff bots that can barely function without a group in pvp. All the class descriptions make them seem like duelists. Which one is right? I am only level 12 but I have been spending all my skill points on sword stuff. And I have heavy armor. I am not all that interested in being a buff bot (I am a healer in all other mmo's and want to try somthing different) and tanking is not my bag, should I just start using a bow and dagger right now or could I pvp well as a sword singer?

I have played other mmos besides WoW, I just mentioned it because it tricked players into being druids and pallys and never tell them that they are only there to heal and buff.
Well, I've rolled a Sword Singer and Blade Dancer. Both are very sought after in parties. Swordsingers more so cause their are so many BD's.
Here's the thing, if you ever get yourself above 52 you need to party. BD's can do a good job leveling themselves solo but you really need a party to get good experience.
A word on playstyle: BD's are semi-effective tanks, and their dances are crazy good for DD's, while SwS's have mostly defensive songs save for their later songs or Song of Hunter.
Dancers and Singer also have to do major MP management.
The real question here should be what do you want to do with a character?
At high levels mages complain like crazy about swordsingers because they have super run speed, and with their defensive buffs they reduce the damage the nukers spells do.. it's quite funny to listen to actually ;)

rofl one thing i LOVE about my sws is my sprint selfbuff... its so funny when were at raids or seige and buffers arent doing ww because OLs are supposed too... and someone misses it or the OLs dont do it for some reason and i tell people to self buff it /rofl

^.^
Not to dog sws's but.. we are used as buff pets lol.

its not all a bad thing tho.. mostly good groups and always needed in clans/allys etc.

to be a good sws means to come up fast. plain and simple.

I'm currently a 6x sws on Hinde and I love it. By far the Coolest class I have ever played.

as much as we have our role in support/pve, we are not to bad in support/pvp either. bowsinger/arrest ftw.
Sws are pretty usefull..
When doing raids tank party always has one for song of vitality(++hp) and the def songs (mdef/pdef depending on the raid boss)..
Light Elves are the most beautiful race in this game so thats another advantage :P (Assuming that you created a female toon)
SWS's a fun support class indeed, only downside really is their lack of offensive skills/spells. The BD get a few cool ones like Hex, Freezing Strike and Sting.

Their defensive songs are awesome, to say the least. My sub is a SWS and even with -CON nukers especially cry when they shoot at me, necro's in particular since I'm usualyl buffed with unholy resistance, made a couple necros BSOE Oo;;

You're no killing machine, but as mentioned a pain in the *** that is hard to scratch away, especially with bow and UD :>

Nuke the UD'ed SWS! I dare you :P
You might be disappointed. SwS are not toons designed to go at it 1 on 1 in PvP. They're meant to work in groups. In PvP they largely function as buffers and tanks. Their damage output is on the low end, but their survivability is fairly good. That said, they are very useful and they are valued in PvP, but they are not primary damage dealers.

If you want to be a straight out damage dealer, go for the plainswalker (dagger) or silver ranger (bow). If you want to use swords and be a damage dealer, go with a gladiator (human class).
If you're going dagger, go TH all the way. plainswalkers rely heavily on evasion, DE daggers rely heavily on their patk. But TH's get crazy crits.
