Yeah, that was one of the very first batch of raid bosses added to the game.
It used to be in a different place though. Up in the very very northeast of EV. You had to go up to the upper level and walk along a narrow ledge around a bend to find him. There were no other monsters in that region and it would be easy to never see that area; until you got close it looked like a dead end.
Yeah it's been there for awhile now. That's the one and only raid boss I attacked by accident once. Was a long night of grinding and I was tired and didn't see that it was a raid boss. Wondered why I was doing hardly any damage and why it was taking huge chunks of life per hit (was on my Tyrant at the time).

Yes it's been there a while but I think only around now because of the new difficulty levels. That one and the Unicorn were rarely about pre C5 on my server. Think I saw this one twice.
Had same experience after C5 in lizardman area between Giran and Hunters. Was in there hunting with WS and thought "man! there are raid bosses all over the place in here".
Now that its NOT WORTH ANYONE'S EFFORT TO KILL THEM they are hanging around more.
