Hiya folks! Very very new to the game, here. Just like to say hiya!

Currently playing an elven mystic (still not sure whether I should go wizard for my first toon or go oracle and make some friends).

Look forward to seeing you all in game!

By the way, I like pie.
far be it from me to suggest this, in fact i should be the last person to suggest this, but you wont really make a lot of friends of higher level as a light elf.

its a stupid reason really, not even worth your time to read, but some still find it a valid excuse not to play elf mystic classes.

but i digress; welcome to the game, welcome to the forums, good luck to ya, and keep your chin up. theres lots of children around looking for any excuse to try and grief you, so just be on your toes.
Hunh...well, before I invest too much more time in this elf, why is it that people despise them? the lower INT? The fact that they look ... fruity? Or is it (i hesitate to say it) "flavour?"

Thanks, and thanks for the warm welcome =)

By the way, Orc mystics looked kinda interesting, too. Tough to level, I'd imagine, though.

Cheers!
orcs are a lot easier than elfs, thats for dang sure.
If you're dead set on leveling a mystic just stay with the light elf.
The orc is 'easier' (cause they have enough patk to whack stuff) but still not what you would call 'easy'.

Just my two cents--it was relatively easiest to level (personal experience) in this order (simple to harder)

1. Dark Elf Fighter
2. Orc Fighter
3. Dark Elf mystic
4. Light Elf Fighter
5. the rest i'v played are pretty much the same: orc mystic, dwarves, human fighter.

Obviously from my sig I'm only talking about the beginning parts of the game. How these toons mature is significantly different so their 'value' to you could be determined by what you appreciate about them at higher levels.

I personally think a human fighter is a mean thing to do to a paying customer....but I really like tanking and appreciate my DA now. Though slow, the dwarves have been a gas to play at times (take a poling dwarf into cata with a friend or two and that's fun) and have had a lot of advantages to all my toons at times.

I'm more of a melee guy to start with so take my 2 cents as probably not worth that much.

In the end, play what you like. It's not a permanent choice.
Welcome,

well .. I have no idea why people wouldnt like an elf :) I guess it depends if you see this game as a fast leveling thing and become a good PvPler and achiever (succes vs. game time) or if you see it as an adventure and being an explorer, seeing land and people or roleplay even. In the first case you would look for easy leveling, good stats (Pwn them, yay!) aso aso, in the second you might like to be an elf actually and interact with people, enjoying your toon as that what it is .. a race in this world :P

Anyway, have fun and good gaming on Devianne. if you need a helping hand say hello at www.undomiel.info (http://www.undomiel.info) - cheers.

Spellsingers (wizard --> spellsinger --> mystic muse) got nerfed pretty bad in C5. they have insane casting speed and could sleep targets extremely fast and had an aoe sleep. however in C5, the casting speed of sleep was reduced and now it takes like 30 seconds to cast it. They are almost useless in PvE as they run out of MP extremely fast when dealing damage, and cannot sleep mobs fast enough. Theyre still alright in PvP, but are nowhere close to what they once were.

Elemental Summoners (wizard --> ES --> elemental master) get a pretty cool buff that one of their unicorns cast that increases casting speed of an entire party, very cool party buff for a mage group, dont know too much about this class i dont see a lot of them around.

Elven Elder (oracle --> elven elder --> eva's saint) is a pretty cool healing class. Only healing class that cannot cure paralization though. They have a skill called Party Return, which returns a full party to the closest town. They do not have a group heal, but theyre casting speed is so fast that they make up for it w/ their single heals. They can regen mp w/ their Recharge skill. They have a cool buff called Clarity that reduses mp consumption. They have erase which is a cool PvP skill that makes an enemies summon disappear. they have trance which is similar to sleep, but isnt nerfed like sleep. At level 78 they get Prophecy of Water, which is an absolutely UBER buff for mages.

hope that helps :)
dont listen to that spud. how many friends you make in game has nothing to do with what class you are. there are plenty of people that will party with dorfs just for company. orc mystic is nice but elfs are nice too. theres no reason you cant have two characters, or for that matter, seven.

I'm sure Schmusekatze could elaborate on this, but apparently it has something to do with being too willowy. :o

And yes, getting parties is mostly a matter of knowing people and being in a good clan. :D

im pretty sure i could make more friends if i was healer than if i was a tank

EE DO HAVE GROUP HEAL

EE DO HAVE GROUP HEAL

Not major or greater though.

But EE are definitely a more sought after class lately. TBH (no offense) it seems like most of the people on the official boards are a bit on the lower lvl, noobier side :O
