Upcoming Elven Wizard Questions

Player Questions Started Last reply 12 posts
Hi all, I've got a couple questions if you can spare the time :-)

#1 - I never seem to have received my newbie travel tokens. I did the gremlin quest and nerupas little delivery task... but aside from that, how do you get those things!

#2 Elven Wizard Play Style... When I finally become an elven wizard (which sould be quite soon) is AOE'ing the typical playstyle? What type of mobs from which level ranges are the best to AOE to level up and get loot?

#3 I am level 15 with top NG armor and weapons and about 300k adena. What is the best way to use my current assets to make money, and does the newbie trade in program work for trading my current top ng weapon for a D grade or do I have to sell it at a loss?

Thanks in advance for all the help and answering my ultra newb questions! :)
As a Wizard aoe would be very hard and you would be better just doing it the normal way. For gear stick with Devotion Set in d-grade and use your money for dbsps and upgrade to the highest m.atk weapon you can afford.
1: talk to the newbie guide. they come from that npc, not as a quest reward.

2: not worth it to aoe, as you are resticted to 20 mobs and aoe attacks are 1/2 as powerful as normal nukes. it will take you 4 shots on a green group and they still might resist it (cause 1/2 power).

3: you are quite well set up. i suggest collect more adena until level 21-23, then upgrade using petty cash. please remember the biggest rule in lineage2: upgrade the WEAPON BEFORE THE ARMOR.

after you saved the first 550k or so, buy the low D from the shop or players then try to hunt as much as possible in the catacombs or necropolises. bottom line here is GET THE STONES

then when your group dissolves, run over to giran and sell the stones you got to players (usually they will buy them for real adena up to on some servers 4x the aa price)

this will net you a lot of cash really fast, and you have the opportunity to go to the blacksmith of mammon to exchange your low D up all the way through to top C.
Wow great, thanks for all the tips. However, re: #1 I talked to the newbie guide where you first start and the newbie guide right up the ramp (the first one you see in town) and I get nothing :( I think I screwed up getting the tokens somehow.

Re:#3 When you say get the stones, what quest is that referring to? ... or is that a drop? Also where can I find more information about the mammon blacksmith or whatever that is :)
alright, well huinting in the catacombs is difficult. you need to have completed your elven wizard quest, and be over level 20. talk to a priest of dawn/ priestess of dusk to compete for a seal. youll sign yourself onto one of these seals and the more you hunt, the more drops you get. be warned tho: the mobs inside each catacomb are 4x hp, and some are magic resist/resist hold/resist sleep.

talk to gatekeeper ziggurat (at any catacomb entrance) to gain the quest for blank scrolls (these sell for great cash) but you got to get last hit on the mob to get the scrolls. and sometimes they dont drop.

anyhow, each mob in the catacombs (with a handful of exceptions) drops seal stones. these are red, blue or green in colour and vary in value. when you turn in these stones to the dawn/dusk side you signed up for, you get ancient adena in reward. the black MARKETEER of mammon will straight exchange ancient adenas (AA) at a rate of 1aa to 1a. but thats not enough for some players. when you sell the stones to players in buy shops (lots in giran town) they will buy as i said for upwards of 2a/aa up to 4a/aa in the right shop.

keep in mind though that the blacksmith of mammon appears in catacombs only. and at that onle in the "seal validation period" (every second week) IF AND ONLY IF the seal of gnosis is broken by either dusk or dawn. and to upgrade your D stuff, you need ANCIENT ADENAS!

so now youre faced with a decision: participate in the seal of gnosis, hunt like mad, and turn in your stones to the side you signed up for and get only 1x the value in ancient adenas, or sell your stones for regular adenas then buy ancient adenas later?....

its a tough call, but if you really need that upgrade (remember: the attibute of the weapon youre looking at is MATK - you want this as high as possible cause this is the factor of the weapon that makes your spells do damage) hunt like mad for weeks. youll gain levels, and in the process, hopefully some blank scrolls.

now as an aside i will tell you what blank scrolls are good for; theres antoher mammon guy that only comes to the necropolises during the seal validation period. he is the merchant of mammon. he takes blank scrolls and some ancient adena and you can buy ENCHANT scrolls for a relatively small price. for example: an ENCHANT D ARMOR scroll costs about this (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=316891&an=0&page=0#Post3 16891) much.

lets do some arithmetic .... how much have you spent in adena buying ancient adena (if you bought it at all) ? take that number and set it aside call it variable C (for cost). how many enchant scrolls (variable N) can you purchase with the blank scrolls you got and the ancient adenas you got?

how much do the scrolls sell for ($)?

take these numbers and do some math ... (N*$) - C = profit.

gogo profit!!

lets throw some numbers into there to make some sense of all those symbols.

in a week's hunt youll gain about 75 blank scrolls and 300k ancient adenas. on armor enchants grade D, we can purchase ... 7 armor enchant scrolls grade D, and 1 blessed scroll of escape.

some servers vary in enchant prices, but for the sake of argument, lets say 100k is the average price of that particular scroll.

C = 0. you hunted for everything. so the onyl cost is what you spent that week in BSPS if anything.
N = 7
$ = 100 000 adena

you just made 700k. you MIGHT have spend 100k in bsps D. oh and the blessed scroll of escape - 400k. just throwing that out to you cause every higher level uses one at some point in those "oh cr$p" situations.

bingo. merchant of mammon = free money.

Wow great, thanks for all the tips. However, re: #1 I talked to the newbie guide where you first start and the newbie guide right up the ramp (the first one you see in town) and I get nothing :( I think I screwed up getting the tokens somehow.

If I remember correctly, the tokens just allow you to move between the new player areas. So, if you have no need to go to Orc lands or the Human Lands then don't worry about it (other than site seeing).
Well I wanted to complete all the quests that would get me some more profit in the earlier levels. I just have no idea why I can't get the tokens... oh and thanks Spudnik for the detailed explanation on that!
If memory serves, the class change quest is a little tough to solo. At least the dungeon part. It might have changed since I did it.

You mean the part with the ratmen?

Yeah, be careful, some of them aggro and they can hit hard.
#1) I have no idea, I played way before these things...can't help u here.

#2) No AoE sucks! Don't even get the AoE fire spell to tell you the truth. Single mob nuking is the best. If you can have an Elven Oracle or Shillen Oracle follow you, that is best. But by far, try to get into Raid Parties for both money, gear, and great experience. If you get into a well organized group (probably will be high lvl's alts) and you run raids with them for a few hours you will probably lvl to 35 from 20ish in a few hours. Other than that Hang out around abandoned camp in your 20s, and then head out to dion area when you feel that place gets to low. Find friends if you don't got best gear.

#3) So far your money seems great! At 15 I wasn't that well off at all. Devotion robes will work for D grade, so don't worry about that. Once you get a kickass weapon and you feel getting D grade robes (like you still have 15+ levels left in D grade) then I would go knowledge set for the extra damage and MP (from D grade). Look around try to get a cheap mage D grade weapon from a player. NOT too cheap, but reasonably good (mid to upper D grade ie. , Mystic Staff, Staff of Magic or even a Goat head staff if you can get a deal). See if you can find a vendor with a soft heart that will trade the NG weapon with some adena to get the D grade weapon. Then use the mammon to upgrade it (to like a staff of life), so u will have to hunt in the catacombs, with a group. You can't use the newbie helper to upgrade to D grade (or I don't think so anyway).

Gaining money differs from server to server. Again if you can get into some low level raids, work the manor system, be incredibly lucky with drops...find a rich friend...whichever.

That's the part. The ratmen weren't too bad, it was getting there that was "half the fun." I sat just inside the dungeon and begged the first group that came in to help me. Nice group. :)
lol. Thanks for all the great replies everyone
