So it's been a week or two or 3 or 4 what are your impressions of the latest update? Here are mine:
1. Not dropping on death has casued me not to worry about pulling too many mobs when I do go hunting which, sadly, is not too often any more. And thanks to my many Brez scrolls should the worst happen. No XP loss .no risk. Boring...
2. Herb Pots have made soloing with a mage class (or really any other class) much easier but it prolly killed the random grp hunting creation dynamic. (Always on the look out for the superior mana pot!!! Woot!)
3. Being able to buy leveled soul crystals has cut into my cash flow and hunting method. More mana for spoils I guess why bother with the crystals. Just another useless quest taking up space in my inventory...
4. Spoil still is broken IMHO but that could be just my bad luck. How can a lvl 66 BH fail to spoil ONE (green or white) mob duing an entire buff round?? Huh?? Why can we only spoil 1-3 items if not in a catacomb or necropolis? Blaeh!! They are supposed to be "gatherers"..mat drop/spoil rates really are not sufficent to justify even playing a BH...
5. Our auto hunting friends are slowly coming back (I've gone and looked and there are new bigger parties in areas that used to get smaller parties less frequently and apparently have decided that they'd rather run then log out (like they use to do)). They will res the 1-2 players that get killed and go right back to hunting. The death "penalty" seems not to slow them down at all. And since they don't drop items seems they'd rather take the risk then force log out. I don't see the fear in them when my SR trains them. They just wait and go back to auto-hunting. They know we can't really "hurt" them any longer.
7. Mats prices are insane. Dunno if this is an effect of the patch or of the mass banning leading up to the patch. NcSoft should up the mat drops to comensate so people can craft what they need. <----hahahahahahahahaha yeah riiiight .
Other then this the patch IMO was ok but it made the game less interesting to me. I've started playing other games because this one is a bit too non-challenging. Just the same old grind only now with HERB POTS! Whoopie.
I'd also say that the removal of dropped items on death is detrimental.
Ppl merely care of dying and it's removing a lot of the thrill.
When you pvp, where's the thrill if the only risk is losing some time?
There's nothing left in game like a death russian roulette.
And so it indeed is becoming boring.
And as for our automated friends it's cool to see them in top gear. They also learned they won't drop...
I'm happy to not have item drop on death. As all my PvE deaths are from lag or disconnecting; it's been at least six months since I've had a PvE death from any other cause (not counting Antharas). It wasn't risk so much as completely random XP/item loss, which at least now is only completely random XP loss.
Honestly... Do people really play this game for PVE? L2 is all about PVP!
As for the patch is sucks, except for the new herbs & 3 shorcut bars. I HATE that you cant drop on death, lineage 2 became carebare the day of the update.
