Hi All,

I am almost to 20 now, and have a quick question. Are the first 2 unicorns at Elven Wizard acquired by a spellbook at the town merchant just like a normal spell? I think I read somewhere that its the 3rd and the 4th summons at ES that I need to find as a drop, is that right? Thanks!
All spells learned by any class below 40 can be bought at town merchants. Only spells (not plain skills) used after the second and third classchanges require books.

A spell is anything that will speed up casting when a spiritshot is applied to one's weapon before using it (buffs and attack magic mostly).
Do all spells after the second class change require drops?
All magic spells...Yes. So if you are foing ES you well need several such as your 3rd and 4th summon books, transfer pain, servitor haste, etc. If you are on Lionna I have several summoner spellbooks I can get you.
As far as I know, all spells that are not upgrades of those learned by any class between level 20 and 40 require books, yes.

For summoners, the necessary books are:

Summon: [Third Servitor] (Unicorn Merrow, Kai the Cat, Soulless)
Summon: [Fourth Servitor] (Unicorn Seraphim, Queen the Cat, Nightshade)
Summon: [Unique Cubic] (Summon: Binding Cubic, Summon: Aqua Cubic, Summon: Spark Cubic)
Summon: Mass Cubic (Summon: Mass [Unique Cubic])
Summon: [knight cubic] (Summon: Life Cubic, Summon: Phantom Cubic, Summon: Storm Cubic)
Servitor Haste
Servitor Empower (Ultimate Defense)
Servitor Physical/Magical Shield (two different skills)
Servitor Cure
Servitor Blessing
Transfer Pain

I'm sure I forgot something. ^^;
Wow thanks everyone, I wish I was on that server. I am on Gustin atm and I have yet to meet any friends or find an academy :( or anybody to even talk to for that matter... but I shall continue onward! Hopefully it will change as I get to the next town!
Nope looks like you got them all listed. :)
Off the top of my head! Making three summoners had to have been good for something.

;) Swift, you can always come to Lionna. <grins and tempts with cookies>
lol, looking back I wish I would have done that now. Its just I'm already pretty well set up now and I would hate to start over again :(
That is correct. All of the spelbooks that you need prior to second class change (level 40) may be purchased from NPC stores. You may have to hunt around sometimes as each store has many of the same spellbooks and then there are a few that can only be found in certain NPC stores.

For instance, you have to go to Giran and see the book seller there to get Bezerker Spirit, if you were a Human Cleric.

Also, remember this, at some point (in your late 30's to early 40's) you need to hunt out in the Inadril area. Your level 56 summons spellbook (Seriphim) drops from a level 39 Mob. The Farhite, which is in the Field of Whispers. So if you wait till your level 56 you will not be able to get that drop.

Summon Unicorn Merrow drops from the Liangma on the second floor of Cruma Tower. This is a fairly nasty place so take friends with you when you go there.

How do I know these things? Well, look at my sig. I'm a Warlock, my son is a Phantom Summoner and my friend from work that also plays is an Elemental Summoner. We have had to go after all the spellbooks!
Welcome to Gustin. Once you reach Dion start shouting to join an academy, I know there are several clans recruiting at the moment :)
Thanks for the ecouragement and the tips guys! I hope I find some more players like yourselves as I progress that I can group with.

It's doable alone (I've had to do it alone twice, yay).

I can make a replay of how to run to the room where they can be hunted solo with relative safely at some point. =)
True, by why do it alone when you can take friends along?>
Ah cool thanks for that link. Within how many levels of the mob do I have to be in order to be eligible to get the drop? There has to be a point where you leveled too far and will never get it if you come back later right?
So for any new summons beyond lvl 35 (summons available at 40) require a dropped book to learn? I've recently come back from a 1-2 year hiatus and I'm going to try and grind up to a PS as quickly as possible or at least as quickly as I can stand.

Another question summons used to be on a 6hour timer, it seems faster now, has that changed?

If a wizard acquires a summoning skill while under level 40, after summoning a servitor the player cannot summon the same servitor for six hours.

Thats what the site says, but I think certain buffs may be able to speed that up.
closer to 2 hours, now I think. been a bit since I was wizard, but it definitely wasn't six.

You should be able to resummon as a wizard every 3 hours. However with the timer change you can have a summon out for 1 hour so down time from that is about 2 hours to resummon.

Welcome back also and what server are you on? We need good summoners here in Lionna =^.^=
It definitely seemed shorter. In Prelude it was 6 hours I’m pretty sure. I played for one month back in summer of 2005 but I haven’t played to any real extent since Nov 2004. Tons of changes since then, most for the better IMO. Loving those herbs although I have died several times by aggroing 3-4 mobs at one time. Not used to having no real means of escape other than running and sucking on health pots. Helps me get some SP if nothing else which I’m short on (level 32.5 and don’t have all my skills yet)

I’m on Gustin so no luck for you there on Lionna. Not sure how long I’ll stay this time, probably 2-3 months at min, perhaps more.

Once I get close to doing my class change I’ll post with various questions I’m sure.

Overall I’ve seen some very good changes in the game although lack of an auction house still boggles my mind. I may even be able to figure out the manor system. Haven’t had much luck selling things back and when I did one time I didn’t see any mats appear in my inventory. I’ll make a new thread in here with questions so I don’t hi-jack the OP’s thread.
In prelude there was no timer as far as I'm aware.

The timer was part of the major summoner C1 buff stickage.
