Are you missing your Heroes?

OK, it's validation week. I have to admit that porting around all over the world looking for ***** and his brother is not one of my favorite pastimes. So for now, yes, I'm missing my heroes....

Reporting the locations of the Mammons was one service that it seemed just about all of them were willing to provide, and a service I was happy to benefit from and contribute to. Yes, I can track them down myself, I just don't like to if I don't have to! Oddly enough, I also find that I am missing the Hero chat as well, even though it was sometime a bit....well.....you know!

For those of you that are supposed to be Heroes and the system screwed you.....I hope they resolve the problem soon, for your sake as well as mine.
NOPE LOL
Actually I do, like Delox and Emina :) I miss mammon shout for sure.

Not really. I needed to visit Mammon BS the other night (I had like 15 minutes to play). Went to my usual "first check spot" and there he was. GG me.
Hope I get the zariche this week lol.
I turned off my Hero Chat. Other than them lighting my way in the cities during the night, I don't even know they exist. ;)
I turned off hero chat about 30 seconds after the first so-called hero started jabbering in that channel.

It took me longer. But once I realized that all I was doing was seeing lines and lines of insults and accusations I realized that I was a 39 year old, reasonably "stable" young man (young I say!!! ) and I had no patience for nonsense.

I had no patience for nonsense.

Says someone that's 75... :p

What? That's not "normal" :p
You guys didn't have Catafar.
No, and I have a feeling that some of the Hero's don't miss themselves.
This weekend was the best PvP I've seen since C1.

You guys didn't have Catafar.

Yeah, I was privy to the "Catafar Experience"
Kain has boromir XD
Honestly,
I feel for the people who earned the hero status. For the others, bah, they can buy there way in the next cool game. I do get tired of trying to find the BlackSmith when I need something, but it does make it more important to have a well balanced alliance so 50% or more of the cats are being hunted.
I guess, all in all, I want to earn hero status, I just don't know that I have 5 years of grinding one toon in me to get there.
But, here is to all the ones that earned it. I feel for you!!!
Not a bit!
Have to keep the hero chat on for Mammon locs, but the jabber of some "Heroes" makes me sick.
Do I miss my "hero's" ???
What's there to miss, lol.

Thanks god that NCsoft made it possible be able to switch this chat off as some of the hero's are really brainless chatterboxes without any wit what so ever. Only time this chat is "on" is when I need the blacksmith or merchant location.

For those that did work for their hero-status and that are respectable/responsible in their hero-chat use this is not ment but that goes without saying.
Yeah, I really miss an UDd hero running up to a full party, killing one or two and BSOEing.. Or hero fear in sieges.. GG..

Heh, you're on Erica, its really bad there.
Is it be or do most people on the board think heros are just chatting light bulbs?

How about the fact they totally unbalanced the pvp game making sieges and big pvp POINTLESS

I'm not sure that is true. I've seen Heroes go down in Sieges many times. Actually... in clan wars too. I like the idea of the champion Heroes. I just don't want to hear their thoughts on who is legit and who isn't.

If you feel they unbalance pvp then maybe that has to be looked at. But as I've stated, they do go down.

They do go down... after a couple full, stacked distance groups go after them.
Thats the whole idea of a hero 0_o ever saw a hero in a movie go down fast? Normally not :p

You should forget hollywood and its happy endings.
A hero is someone who die for his lady. Fast or not.

Well this is sort of my thought.

Heroes can't just glow and have the ability to spam the world. Then what is the point of competing for this honor if that is it.

As far as I'm concerned, Lineage 2 is completely about power. I know people like to apply all sorts of "if you have more than x clans fighting it's a zerg and you shouldn't grief low lvl players, etc" but there is always going to be more powerful players.

That's like saying a lvl 75 can't go to an area of lvl 56's so we must artificially make it so a lvl 75 has no way to attack these lower lvls.

It's either open pvp or it's not. If that is the way it is to be then why don't we just make the alternate rules servers and have done with it.

But this game will have lvl 75+'s attacking lower lvl players, siege or not.

So if a Hero is that much more powerful then obviously they are something to contend with.

At one point on Hindemith (long time back) there was a clan that was filled with higher lvl players. They could essentially hold off any siege force because of their lvls.

So does this mean that this was bad and their should have been a way to defeat them other than good sieging tactics?

If you don't have the levels then you level. If you don't have the forces then you get them.

let's stop putting all these artificialities on the game. Or LETS put them on the game and change it.

But we really need to be on board with what this game is about. As far as I'm concerned, heroes are no more overpowered than a lvl 75 is over the above mentioned 50+ players.

Does this mean that the perma reds that used to hunt down significantly lower players were way out of line? That is the game. It's brutal. It's been this way from day one.

I personally don't care though. If the game is to be changed so that no person can attack someone of a certain lvl below them or certain amount of power below them then fine. But if that sounds absolutely horrible and the opposite of what this game is about then how can we pick and choose just because if suits our tastes and needs?
nope dont miss em at all .. infact not having that ennoying glow on my screen is nice ... but then again on lionna our hero system has been exploited from day one thanks to the Korea/NA players there who get all the dirt prior to realease here ... I am sure its the same on alot of other servers so I bet if you had a server wide vote most would say ... BAH Begone False Prophets!! We see your dirty ways.... and not have any heroes anymore ... you wanna be a hero let the server annoint you somehow not just let a bunch of people exploit it ... I am sooo happy they are fixing the overweight deal and the chicken no wanna fight people finally get penalized .
I miss myself T.T
LF shiny elephant
Anyone else notice this post is where everyone who is jealous of heroes comes to complain. Very pathetic or your servers heroes just happen to be your enemy.
Beyond not having my usual sitcom/ congressional hearing/ radio talk show (otherwise known as hero chat) to garner a few laughs now and then - nope. No annoying, barely readable hero messages because the server forgot to remember I set hero chat to off before the program crashed on me. No sudden appearance by some glowing adolescent followed by an indiscrimant PKing spree because their bot train got shoved out of a room. No irritating "come out and fight me" from a hero looking to prove he/she/it can beat someone in partial A-grade while running around in boss-jewels, S-grade armor, and weilding a weapon that the dragons might have a .00...001% chance (ie when hell freezes over and lucifer takes holy vows chance) of dropping. Over all a good week.

Of course I'm biased - very few "heros" (if any) seem to actually care how they get their status as long as they get it and all the toys that go along with it. Something I consider important enough that in 6 years of gaming, I used a buffbot (two-box in L2 lingo) in DAoC 3 times over roughly 2 days before dropping it because fights weren't remotely satisfying. The whole point of a competition to get hero status, the term itself, implies someone that can be considered the "best of the best" (or atleast the best of those that wanted to try). The kind of player that wouldn't accept a clanmates forfieting to him, but insist they fight it out even if they stood a better chance of loosing. The sort of player that doesn't go out looking to gank random people 20 levels lower than themselves because they're too busy looking for fights that could either way, while praying to find an opponet just a bit better than themselves so they can get better.

Right now so much of getting hero status isn't about how well a someone plays a class, it' about how much they can twist the system to assure they win. Instead of taking on all comers; it's avoid any fights you might lose and have the nobelesse in your clan, alliance, or even the ones you bought off find loopholes to not give the other canditates the chance to garner points. It's clans and alliances that make clan help getting nobelesse (or staying in the clan if done without clan support) conditional to agreeing to throw matches as the leadership sees fit. In short, about as far from a balanced competition to find the best of the best in each class as could be gotten short of just making it based on who can bid the most adena.

Of course it's also an example of why a mention of "Lineage II being for hardcore PvPer's" incites laughter from all sides in DAoC, WoW, or even the old Zek servers in EQ. To quote the leader in a gank guild I ran against all too often "the day the norm in that korean POS is to go looking for higher-leveled, better geared, or just all-around better opponets with equal or greater numers to pick a fight with is the day they can call themselves hardcore PvPers. Until then, they're just wannabes who think being able to win a fight you have to be AFK to lose makes them equal to 8-mans that can chew 3 times their number out of an equally outfitted zerg before the last one dies then coming back in 10 minutes to do it again."

*Edit - post-op pain killers and late-night typing to do not for good grammer make.

Dude, I'm 47 and I'm young. So....yes your young! No one that plays this game is really old.
If kularus would have got hero I'd say yes...since he didn't I don't really care. I guess I just miss Kularus. :(
