Although I haven't actually attempted to locate him yet, the NPC that needs to be found to complete the Scavenger Quest can be in three different locations.
My question(s) is/are this/these~
1. Is there any way to tell which spot he's in, without having to actually traverse the entire area?
2. Is there a certain time of day he'll be at a particular area?
3. Is the area he's at ALWAYS going to be the same one, and the quest-giver is just saying three locations to waste time? (They've been known to do that, in the past.)

its simple, keep running throguh all the spots, if you dont see him on your trip, SOE then run it again, he mightve ported while u were on the way to him. i really dont see what all the whine is about him

Cause you have to go see him ..... frequently :P
The answer as already metioned is No, No, and No.
Althought some people might say hes more often at some place than another.
I'll ask someoen I know. He has like 4-5 dorfs (maby more, Ive lost count) and so hes done that particular quest alot. From what I remember, he complains alot when hes checked out two locations and by deduction established that Toma is in the mines.

most of the time i find him in the coal mines but alot of those times was after i checked the other spots (or rechecked coal mines)
on average it will take you 20 minuets to find him
Best suggestion: Head to the Abandoned Coal Mines and stay there. There are enough mobs in the bottom room where Toma appears to keep you happily hunting till the jerk ....I mean..em...Gentleman...shows up.

I started this quest yesterday as well, and I have some questions:
A) Taken directly from the Stratics Guide section:
2. Take the letter to Trader Mion in the magic shop at the south of town.
She will give you one of three delivery tasks in town which you must complete.
3. Repeat step #2, 5-20+ times. Eventually she will give you Mion's Letter.
Ok, I've got sort of weapon (in the item quest inventory) but I don't understand to whom to deliver.
If I talk again to her, she is telling to hurry but not to whom.
On the map no yellow flag shows, as for other quests (and as for the previous step)
- Anyone knows where to go?
- Repeat 5-20+ times what? Talking with her, deliver something, or both?
Related question, and that is a general one about reading the map.
On the map we have grid of two figures. Ex. on top, x axes we have something like 40, then 45, then 50 and so on.
If we read the instruction to find Toma (and other locations, in other guides) you find something like that:
"4. Talk to Master Toma to get the Bear Pic, he is at one of 3 locations. Take the gatekeeper to the northeast shore, then check 154k, -220k (a small island on the far north shore) and 179k, -184k (north exit of mithril mines) and 152k, -175k (bottom of the spiral stars inside the north exit of coal mines). He teleports between the locations often enough that you will have extreme difficulty chasing him down."
I don't understand how to see position 154k, -220k for example. I tried to type /Location command, but nothing happens. Nobody could help in broadcast, when I asked (surprise......welcome to botland). Anyone can point to a post or a guide where it is mentioned how to read or understand those positions?
I tried /loc, /LOC, /location, /Location and nothing worked.
(To be honest, I tried also /dance, and my little fat midget didn't move 1 inch either.......)
Maybe I have some general setting excluded, but I didn't manage to find anything useful in the option panel.
Assuming the command works, what kind of info you get (I mean in which fromat) and in where? On the map or as chat ?

Just go to abandoned coal mine. he spends most of his time there. you have to run a lot to get to the farthest point. I almost never find him on the rock out in the ocean. Of the dozen times i had to go find [censored] master toma, I found him in the coal mine 11 out of 12. go in, go towards the left.... across...left..right... down the spiral.. you can wait on the spiral.... if there are bots where toma is..you can train em while you wait.

Left click the weapon in your quest inventory and it should tell you whom to take it to. I think you take it to either the weapons shop or someone in the warehouse. I tend to block out the mind numbing details of those quests.;)
Having done this quest many more times than i wish to relate, this is what I do. First Mion sends you to 3 or 4 (X20) places on erands and like mentioned in ealier post, go to quest item in inventory and should tell you who gets it. As far as Toma goes he on a 40 minute cycle(on or about) at each spot first spot i check is Island to find island look for coal mine (abbanoned) see road that runs north from there about halfway up road a stream begins on west side of road follow stream all the way to coast see island at inlet that is 1 of Toma's hang out now that same road that I mentioned but this time south end enter coalmine there path sprials down like 3 lvls staay on path till you hit bottom of mine should be some orb golem and rat critters there 2nd hangout now look at Mithril mines see the road that runs north out of mines (not the the one that on the west side and turns north) but right before you enter the mine there is ramp that goes in do not enter mine he hangs at bottom of the ramp outside the mine. Well hope Ive been some help and this quest is the pits and hope you only do it once whole quest takes me 4-6 hours Good Luck BTW his rotation is ccw I beleive.
