Weapon/Armor Grades?

I am new to L2 and wondering if someone can explain weapon and armor grades to me. Like when can/should you use D then C then B then A. Also whats the best possible gear for a lvl 10 Fighter, and is there a drawback to using said weapon/armor so early?

1-19 NG
20-39 D
40-51 C
52-61 B
61-75 A
76++ S

Best gear is no grade, heavy armor will offer the best defense. (Unless you're a mystic, it makes no sense to get anything else.) As far as weapon, that depends on the class.

Ok whats the best possible 1 hand sword for a lvl 10-19 fighter? :)

and with D grade, at lvl 20 its ElvenLongsword (ELS)
watch the skill side and u see all your Expertise :)))))

I bet at lvl 20, we will meet again in the "how to get rich"-forum - considering the Elven Longsword / best D-duals cost approx 2 mill to create / upgrade... A tip for u - get aquainted with the priest of dawn when u get to lvl 20...

btw you'd prolly be better off useing a 2 handed sword
