I've been looking at the different types of SA's you could have on duals. As one would imagine, having the right SA for your character is invaluable so I wanted to make sure that I understood the SA's fully. Most of them are self explanitory, but the ones like: "Critical will increase by 40." I'm getting confused on. What does that mean? Is there a predetermined value for crits, for instance say 15% crit rate and it adds 40? lol i highly doubt that, but maybe one of you could explain it to me. Anyways thanks for your help.
Check your character stats, I believe that you will find that you have a critical number. If I remember correctly that SA will increase that number by 40.

Nominally your crit rate is yoru crit stat divided by 10, ie 40 will increase by 4% assuming no other factors like level difference or facing.
The % chance for a crit is critical/1000. Max. critical you can have is 500.
nitpick: yes, the mathematical crit chance is critical/1000 to get a value 0..1. But it is easier to just calculate the critical number/10 (so a maxed critical of 500 will result in a 50% chance of getting a critical hit). Saying the % chance for crit is critical/1000 may be confusing, because you would not want a maxed 0.5% chance (500/1000) of a critical hit :)
Thank you very much for your replies, they'll be a great help in making my decision :D. I knew that somehow that number could be turned into a percentage, I just wasn't aware of how.
Varaya why wouldn't you want 50% crit rate (unless of course you mean the sacrifices you'd have to make to obtain a 50% crit rate)? I wouldn't mind crit'ing every other hit :D

you want a higher crit rate, but what var was indicating is that the crit rate LOOKS small when you say it in any other term than /10
