We hope you enjoyed the Halloween event! Please place your votes below and reply in this thread with specific comments to let us know what you thought about this event. Thank you!
I said it was way too short because the event was limited in what you could do. I didn't actually buy anything, I had the mask and horns given to me. Then you see everyone with the items so it doesn't feel special at all. It would have been better to distribute the items like Chronicle items because if someone wanted a mask and horns, they got 1. People started trashing them and littering the floor with them.
I would participate in this type of event again because it's hard not to, you get rewards thrown in your face by those with tons of adena to attempt for a soul crystal. I rather the events more to do with hunting mobs or maybe one to do with PvP.
Was a fun little event, but I think that Holiday events should be limited to the date of the holiday they are celebrating... Halloween is but a single day... what was the event several weeks?

It is so that people that cannot play on a single day get to enjoy the event. Case in point, the GMs showing up in game happened only while I was at work.

As far as the event goes, I enjoyed it for the time I put into it. There weren't enough rewards to make me continually play it. In the end all I wanted was a Red mask and a chance to get a soul crystal. I believe I played 3 million total and that was about all I was willing to lose.
Again ... what background story? I searched pretty much all of Aden and Elmore during and after the event and didn't find the undead legion, nor Omega.
We didn't even get to know if we managed to free him or her!
Bah.
If you insist on making background stories, at least make them somewhat grounded in the game's background and play.
It was far too long, for the limited stuff you can do. Majority of people had spend what that wanted in first hour or so after logging in. If there were more rewards in betwing the super common, basicaly worthless stuff and jack pot of SA crystal it might of been more tempting to people to spend more.

Wow, Sovrath, you make me feel like a big spender. But alas, we shall not go into the insane amount of zeroes at the end how much I spent. SWE was mad at me I think because of it.

Hmmm... joke there somewhere but I'll let Sir E. make it as he is already a wanted man for his post in the off topic section. What's another hour of torture.

Yeah, that was exactly my experience. Logged in, spend 1 million or so. A few hours later spent about 2 million more and that was it.
I enjoyed it. I thought for a Halloween event it could have had a bit more of a Halloween flavor to it, or a small final step to make it a little more involved.
But really, a deviation from the event formula of "grind grind farm intense 0mgooses" was a welcome one. And the rewards were neat. I know the game is "xtreme hardcore" and it draws in lots of people with that mentality, but I thought this event was refreshing.
I didn't buy a single box and still got a handful of horns and masks...
In short, this was the biggest non-event that has happened so far. I don't know about everyone else, but I need ways to MAKE more cash in game not SPEND more that I don't have!
I think it even was no event at all. More like a gamble game that a game named Diablo 2 has too.
In diablo 2 u buy an unknown item from the merchant for a high price with a chance u get a very good one cheap when u identify it.
In the Halloween event we boght this boxes instead of the items. Its the same to me. Nothing new nothing special.
The duration was way to long for this cheap event if someone wants to spend his money he could do in like one day.
Disapointing event to me.
Amazing people are voting the rewards weren't worth the time/effort.
Just how much time and effort is needed to buy something from an NPC?
Come out and say it, you don't like the event because you didn't make mad loot off of it. Forget the fun of the masks and horns, you wanted billions of adena from selling Lv 12 crystals.

It takes time and efford to get the adena to buy into the event in the first place.
i thought the maskes were really well done, they fit on the characters and look good. but those were free, at least they were all over the floor of my clan hall when i logged in that day. i didnt see the point of spending 50k to get more copies of the stuff i already had. 2 clannies got soul crystals tho, one of them only bought like 3 of the box things. it also didnt help that i owed someone 8mil before the event started. the pumpkin events are still my favourite becuase you get together in random groups and DO something absurd. i think the bunny event would be more fun if it required 9 people with chronos to kill it and the bunny ran away from you in a random direction. buying stuff which may or may not contain other stuff is just not my idea of fun stuff.
I liked this event. So plain, simple, no need to explain anything. If you did not like it, you could ignore cats in towns.
Only drawback is that I would welcome this as some event not related to anything, and have some serious Halloween-style event.

The rewards were not worth the effort of hunting to get 50k adena. There should have been some rewards in between the fireworks and the SA crystals. Once you had the mask and the horns (which for most happened within one minute after logging on after the event went live), everything except the SA crystals was basically useless crap, and the chance of actually getting a crystal was incredibly low (I only heard via rumours of one player who apparently got a crystal, nobody I know personally got one). If there had been some rewards like buff scrolls or useful potions which you got at a rate of like 10% of the time, there would have been an actual incentive to buy more chests after getting the mask and the horns.
I believe this event could have been played off better. The chests as a mob drop or something. I just dont see spending 50k on a chest that could just be a firework or a pot that i will never use and just sell to a store. I just didnt see the fun in this. And the crystals are better off just being bought from private store IMO.
What? It offered alot of fun for everyone, fireworks, mystery potions, mask and horns. And in a way that everyone could get them, even newbies (and those who didn't have much money could get the stuff from those who spent alot of money).
How is the crystals better off being bought from a private store? They cost 100+ million there, thats 2,000 chests you could buy instead.
I for one am glad to see an event that doesn't tie into mindless grinding or work for once.
I dont know what your idea of fun is but standing in town opening chest is not my idea of fun. I admit the masks were cool i wanted one of them but the fire works and mystery pots not so much fun. 50k is alot of money when your new to game or jsut coming back and is hard to just give away. Granted people were just dropping masks and horns on the ground so your right they could get them from peopel that spent alot of money. You say no private stores the crystals cost 100mil +so you say buy 2,000 chests. Why in the hell would i want to spend 100mil on something that have little to no chance of giving me what i want when i coudl take that 100mil and buy what i want? Events and grind go together i think. Grinding does get hard at times but the fact that soon i will have a 7x toon makes me really happy. With an event to grind for it just makes the grind a little more up beat and happy. Just my two cents.

Agreed, there should of also been some sort of after event, say if we rescued him there would of been some sort of attack, that would of been great.
I love events - it is a nice way to break up the grind. But I do hope I do not see another like this as there was no activity - just go to the cats and buy a coffer and cross your fingers. Was not interested in taking the chance for a soul crystal knowing my luck for drops typically are not that high. I do look forward to the next event and hope there is some killing involved - muhahahahahaha. Thanks for the try though on this one as I am sure it is hard to come up with new ideas.

It would have been great if Omega had announced his release and 'thanked' those who bought coffers by depositing something in their warehouse, or even scattering things over the countryside.
For those who like conflict, we could have had Omega's captors attack cities where folks bought coffers, dropping items as they died, or boosting xp or sp.
Was totally lame. We need either a way to remove LOTS of adena from the game entirely, or to circulate alot of it. A 1/100000 chance of getting an SA crystal at the cost of 50,000a is neither.
I have not once been impressed with any of NCs "stories" (or what passes for them). Whoever is NCs primary story writer isn't very creative.
Spent almost 50 mil, no crystal. My fault for being a gambler, but NCsoft seriously needs to make a way for a character to obtain one of these as a solo character that doesn't involve killing over 10000 mobs.
personally I didnt mind this event it got rather boring though, I rather have the raid boss events or other events were you get l2 scrolls and other things by hunting the raid mobs and the mobs around them like the dark lord returns event, even the pumikin, and metal event were better then this one imo
My god from day 1 it was not an event. I am searching for words to be less blunt really I am.
The story might have been interresting IF we had seen something happening. Hell, like a world announcement at the end telling us that the "effort" made did indeed help the cat free it's master.
Event evaluation: -2 on the scale of 1-10 (10 being grant)
Please be more reactive next time. Pretty please with a cherry on top?
I spent 5 mil, ended up with about 40 masks and 40 horns, which I had no room to hold and ended up just dumping on the ground. The fireworks and mystery potions were nothing special so it was basically a big waste.
Then why did you spend 5 million? Oh thats right you wanted a chance to get crystals...so don't say its a waste just because your 5 million didn't buy you any.
I think the masks and horns should have been more rare and the SA crystals less rare. Also, when we have the event where you could buy a red mask, I wish it changed colour so to keep the rarity of the mask. Like red one year, yellow the next, etc, etc. Keeping the items a little more unique would be much better.
The masks and horns were way too common. IMO, appearance accessories (on which I used to make a lot of money, until this event, of course) should be luxury items - items that make you look unique should be rare. Shortly after the event, everyone on the server was wearing a mask and horns and my hairpin/antennae/eyepatch business was in shambles.
Like others had said, there should have been other "useful" rewards - potions/buff scrolls or some such. The mystery pots and fireworks were good "low end" drops. Consumables should have been somewhat less common, masks/horns substantially less common, and the soul crystals the least common.

But after a while people will get tired of looking alike and they'll buy the other items.
I just dont see the point of masks and horns. I found some on the ground, so the price was right for something detrimental to your main character. Anything that takes up inventory without serving a purpose is worse than useless.

Let me get this straight, you are saying the rate of getting a mask or horn is too common, given that anyone who wants one of these items is going to buy enough boxes to get the item they want with probability 1 no matter what the per box probability is?
If a person does not know what the chance of getting a mask from a box is (and we did not know what the prob was during the event), then they are not able to calculate the expected price of mask before playing. Once a person does commit to buying boxes a mask, the decision to buy another box to get a mask isi ndependent of the number of boxes you have already purchased. This is because any money you have already sunk into getting a mask cannot be recovered once it is spent, and so should not effect your decision on whether or not to buy another box up until the point where you update you information to conclude that the probablility of getting a box is much lower than you expected when you started and the amount of money you will have to spend in the future is more than the worth of the item to you, but to even do that much you have to first believe that you weren't simply caught in a string of unlucky boxes. What does effect your decision on whether or not to buy another box is the price of another box versus the amount of money you have left and the perceived value of the mask in terms of the value of using that money to buy some other item. Obviously when someone has a large excess of cash, they are going to buy a large number of boxes simply because they don't have a better use for the adena.
Am I the only person here who is confuzzled?
Personally I think the mystery pots and fireworks were crappy low end drops that I would have enjoyed if they were packaged with other items but alone were not worth the 50,000 adena price tag.
I wanted a red mask and horns... they look great with my black Tallum Heavy and white hair... and, what do you know?! I picked up a dozen sets of each off the ground and gave them to all my alts.
I didn't spend a dime!
Storyline? Oh, some NPC I've never heard of, never encountered, and don't give 2 figs about got captured? His (her?) *cat* went to town to secure his release?
