Frozen Lab: Splitting Mobs

Player Questions Started Last reply 37 posts
Anyone know which mobs exactly split in the lab? Do they all react to physical skills? :) Thanks!
buffalo and antelope split
Is that 'only buffalo and antelope split' or 'I know buffalos and antelopes split, not sure about the others'?
Go hit something and find out. :p
I can't yet. I'm trying to figure out whether I should start manoring towards a lance for my dwarf though - if the spoils are as sick as they're made out to be it would be nice - but I can't very well check what splitting mobs spoil if I don't know what mobs split. :p

Mielle is unfortunately not blessed with physical skills of any kind - and neither are any of her servitors. ;(
I am pretty sure there are others besides the buffalo and antelope that split but I can't think of them offhand. All the ones that do split become 5 mobs in total I believe.
I know that Pronghorns and Buffalos split. Gargoyles, Yetis, Tarantulas, Watchers don't. Group mobs (Golems, Ursa, Pantheras, Bandersnatches) don't split either.
I think it's just pronghorns and buffalos.
Ok so do the ones that split become 1/2HP mobs when they do? The other TH in my clan solo's on the Yeti's and is up to 1k in black crystals so far. If you solo in FL you really should do the quest there.
Ohh, free-roaming group mobs? ><; Haha, this is more complicated than I thought. So antelopes, buffalos and pronghorns split and golems, ursa and pantheras and bandersnatches come in roaming groups from the start?

Are those also five each?
I believe so yes. The free roaming groups usually have a leader mob that is aggro and the rest are social to it. Kind of like skyshadow meadow near Oren.
Awesome stuff! It's looking like I should start looking for a lance. :)
Splitted mobs are 1x, too.

"Antelopes" are Pronghorns.

Splits are:
Frost Buffalo to 6 (or more?) Lost Buffalos
Pronghorn to 6 Pronghorn Spirits

Golems and Pantheras have an aggressive leader (you can get rid of it with Serenade, though), Ursa and Snatches don't. And Golems are just too slow and easily lose aggro.

Gargoyle Younglings are aggressive (Serenade doesn't land, as they are magic resistant). They are social with other Gargoyles, but don't form groups, and you can kill them in melee, if you are careful.

Buffalos seem to aggro sometimes (social with Ursa?).

Other mobs seem to be passive (may be social with their type, though).

In short, nothing dangerous for an EE (solo or in a group) here, if you aren't AFK.

Splitted Buffalos and Pronghorns have stun, non-splitted... I guess not.

Buffalos, Pronghorns and Golems don't drop herbs. Tarantulas do.

There is a spot with a Pronghorn, a Golem group and some Tarantulas. Pronghorns spoil Varnish and EAB, Golems spoil Wizard's Tear 60% recipe, Tarantulas drop herbs :)

Pronghorns (and Tarantulas?) drop quest items. Golems don't (?).

I guess, there is no point in converting quest items into black ones with the current prices of CBP.
The other TH in my clan is collecting the black crystals to buy enchants. Of course it takes 1700 black crystals to get one A grade weapon enchant.
Splitting those mobs is a very unpleasant surprise, most of the time, thanks to nerfed sleep cloud, if someone does it on accident it means a party wipe :/
I did manage to keep ppl alive there without Major Heal or VR. GH/Vitalize/Vitalize/Vitalize.... The catch is not to reaggro them on you, if your partner is a poler (and to reaggro some of them, if not).

1700 black crystals is ~6800 silver crystals. It's 1100 CBP... with 1100 two-clicks instead of 6800 four(?)-clicks.
Is there any guide on the quest there?

And when I go there, it'll be BH/SE probably, not EE/PP. =)
BH/SE should work great there. the quest is pretty simple, see Rafferty and get it. Gather silver ice crystals, use them to turn em into black ones. Turn in black crystals for rewards.

"Antelopes" are Pronghorns.

sry if i was misleading earlier; im at work and couldn't remember their actual name. maybe i shoulda stuck with antelope-ish looking. :D
Rafferty has 2 quests. If I remember correctly:

An Ice Mechants dream
The other side of the truth

Take them both. One will get you those crystals, the other will allow you to trade them to Rafferty if you want for mats: Steal, CBP, and crafted leather I believe. Otherwise you can only trade them for adena. or use them to try and make the Black Crystals of course.
You won't have a problem unless you use any skills on them.
If you simply hit them normally, they won't split.
Oh but I want them to split. <cackles>
Well just hit them with a special and you'll have about +5 extra friends.
Heh, I like to split them myself. As a dagger I can usually kill all of them hehe.
Good exp, and it gets your heart going!
Its kinda irrelevant with the post itself but is there a pattern tha should be followed for the black crystalls? i usually make only 1 out of 3 efforts so its a bit dissapointing considering the cbp way of making money..

Completely random, though it's probability still gives you more adena if you do the crafting.
Get both quests from Rafforty. You don't need to finish (or even take) the first quest to be able to collect Silver Ice Crystals or to convert them into Black Ice Crystals (just don't convert them to adena), you do need to finish the first quest to be able to convert Ice Crystals to something worthy and to be able to collect Silver Hemocytes (they are needed to enter Ice Queen Castle, just like Dimensional Fragments are needed to enter Rift).

Silver Ice Crystals can be converted into mats.

Black Ice Crystals can be converted into enchants. If you want EWA, prepare to spend a day or two just on clicking through the quest windows to convert enough Silver Crystals to Black ones (in addition to the Silver Crystals farming time).
One more mob thats splits is inside the ice queen castle. The very big gargoyl group can get a lot bigger if you start using physical specials... But thats only if you go for the freya the ice queen. No other mob splits there.
Jesus they did not put the exchange interface just like in FoD quests?
There's a chance of failure every time you convert crystals, depending randomly on the choices you make.

Does anyone have a price list?
Are the crystals tradable at all? How often do they drop?
the crystals aren't tradeable. i get one after every couple of mobs
Only Hemocytes are tradeable.

It seems that exactily 1 Silver Ice Crystal drops from each mob that can possibly drop them; their in-party distribution is completely Korean random, though.

Ahahaha that made my day :D
They split on any physical skill, including spoil :(
And then you use Spoil Festival :p

And then you try to sweep them all :(
