I joined my clan 2 weeks ago, and asked one of the dwarves if
he could get me an EWD for cost, not free. He said no,ok. So
I played by myself several days and got from lvl28 to 30. Today
I played with a clan mamber's alt for about 1.5 hours, we're lvl30
both of us and he mentioned using dss alot today and he could
make some for me, I said ok. We'll meet up later, now the clan
leader is suspicious of me. What do I do now? I can go it alone
but it was nice being in the clan for awhile.....
you should probably pm the clan leader and ask why he/she is suspicious of you. I think that if the clan leader will listen to what you have described, that they will understand that you are not trying to take advantage of the clan.
If all else fails, reroll to Hindemith. I got a spot for ya in my clan.
Im just not sure I see what she could possibly be suspicious of. You got some dss and asked for an ewd. That normally wouldnt be an issue for a clan leader. I had a clan leader once. Was very polite when she invited me to the clan. After that she never said a word to me or she wouldnt respond to anything I said to her...That was weird. I left right away. :p
he might want to try speaking to his clan leader first and making sure they didnt just misunderstand each other before yall drag her to the execution grounds and string her up. :)

Who said something about stringing up the clan leader?
A rule I'm trying to establish in my clan would be that troublemakers like the OP have to walk (swimming is allowed, but not running) all the way from the Talking Island Village to our castle (that being Schuttgart :)) and ask the CL for forgiveness. ;)
Dragging internal clan problems into the official forums counts as "making trouble". :)
The OP was asking for advice on what to do in this situation, nbot dragging internal problems to the boards. Seems like the OP is a bit newer to L2 and doesn't know what has happened or how to fix it. Probably hears about all the help available on the boards and went to see about it.
And if anyone expected me to walk from Talking Island to Schuttgart, you can better believe that someone would be dead when I arrived, and I would be LF Clan.

You don't believe in the value of rituals in the forging of a community and strengthening the bonds between its members, do you? :)
More communication is generally better than less comunication. Ask the CL and talk it out, don't make decisions based on assumptions. You assume he is mad at you and he may have assumed something about you that is not true.
There is an old saying about the word assume, if you assume anything then you make an azz out of u and me (Azz u me), get it?
Salvat is a decent sort, so talk to him. Sometimes it takes more guts to start an unpleasant conversation than it takes to attack a red mob, so be brave and talk to him, politely.
Sorry if this was inappropriate for the forums, live and learn.
Thanks for your advice everyone. Now I have to decide what
to do. I like this clan because they are casual players like me
and I'm not pressured to level to 40, being in the academy.
Your comments helped me see a little better what to expect
and not expect. For all they know maybe I am a scammer,
they don't know me that well yet. Most of you said I shouldn't
feel guilty asking about an EWD, thanks. That's something I
wasn't sure about, I don't need one, and have plenty of gear.
Even sold another Ori Ore in Giran yesterday for 28.5k :)
I'm sure kayosoni was kidding, I don't feel that way. But I
might take you up on that next time I'm pk'd!
I give the OP a couple of points (right up until they posted name and clan leader on the forum boards!!!).
First, the OP gives a hoot about perception and is at least concerned about possible issues. Considering the range of folks playing L2 that's nice to see.
Secondly, the OP would like things to be okay--is interested in other words, in making changes or improvements.
I think the post shows a newer player who cares what others might think. From personal 'clan experience' I can strongly suggest that you verify what you think before acting on it (hehe). I think the CL deserves that from you.
Talk to your CL (whatever forum you have to do that) and say "I'm not sure what's going on. Is there any issue with you and others in the clan regarding me?" Then summon the courage to ask how you've been perceived so far--are there any pointers the CL would like to give for changes you might make?
"Fitting In" takes some effort. Fitting in with strangers who have established relationships that didn't involve you takes some time.

That's what fraternities say when they make their pledges walk, naked, with a banana between their buttcheeks while other pledges take bites off of the banana. Keep your stupid ceremonies.
And not that I don't agree that the community should stick together and do things together. I'm just saying that if my CL was mad at me and made me do that, he would find himself on the pointy end of my Infernal Master.
I've been in 3 clans since coming to Hindemith. The first, when I was 1x. I stayed in it until they broke up (I was ~55ish?). Level really has very little to do with it.

No that was serious actually. Most likely serious I should say.
A lot of people on Erica are wary of scams and scammers. Any clan is going to be a little wary about someone asking for enchants if they are new to the group. Don't let it bother you though. If your enjoying the people in the clan try and stick it out and talk with your clan leader. It is a clan's duty to help it's members, it is also the duty of members to help the clan. In my clan nearly everyone contributes all of the basic material drops they get to the clan. These are then used to craft the armor and weapons my clan mates use. As clan crafter I also craft shots for anyone that needs them, all they have to do is supply the materials. If you find yourself in need of shots look me up I can craft everything but S grade.

Yup.
That's also why we have rituals like birthdays, marriages, burials, formalised trials, and football matches.
As always, it's easy to forget that what the ritual is doesn't matter so much as what it does and makes something useful for the community into a grotesque parody of itself, destroying its purpose in the process.
And as always, declining to take part in any ritual on general principle is as destructive as enforcing rituals for the rituals' sake. However you even thought I'd do the latter, I can't fathom. Maybe the three smileys I used in my post wasn't enough to indicate I wasn't ever serious with that specific idea. :)
And as always, declining to take part in any ritual on general principle is as destructive as enforcing rituals for the rituals' sake.
Oh. I refuse to be a drone and follow along like your other drones and that makes me destructive? Why not just hire a clan full of bots?
There are good rituals and there are bad rituals, but refusing to partake in any of them (like birthday celebrations, burials, hanging out with your friends at a pub or raid boss party each Saturday evening, for example) makes you destructive to the society, yes.
You'd make a fine hermit, though.
Personally, I'd use your stupid "ceremony" as a test. If the candidate is stupid enough to actually do it, no way they get in.
Since you still seem not to realise I was joking, extra for you:
Hey Duroon. Just wanted to say thanks for the clan advise and
your offer of shots. Been busy today (until now), can't get back
in game until this evening. I was only in one other clan back in
May and they asked me to leave after a week. No reason given
but I probably was not active enough. Then I made my own
clan "LaydBack" for most of the summer, mainly to avoid what
happened with the 1st clan. One person joined and left after
a week. Then I played the PTS alot with the lvl75 characters
everyone got (that was the most fun I ever had!). Then the
wipe and start over with 10x XP and drops, that was cool too
but not enough SP that way. No clan and still have my toon on
the PTS.
When C5 went live I decided to disband LaydBack
(no members) and try a clan again if anyone invited me. So I
really have no clan experience and this is my 1st mmorpg
game ever. Before this I only played Diablo 1 (alot), Adventure
and Asteroids back in the Dec-10/Vax days. For those who do
not know Adventure was a text only game where you explored
in caves and picked up things so you could open doors and
continue on, it wasn't too bad for back then. Just some of my
history.
Thank you to everyone else who took the time and effort to
post. :)

I agree with this 100%
You don't believe in the value of rituals in the forging of a community and strengthening the bonds between its members, do you?
The only way I would do such a "ritual" for a clan is if the clan completely outfits myself from NG to S grade. Since the chance of that happening is absolute zero, what good is the ritual?

With that specific joke example only, or with the sentiment of "rituals are bad"?

It servers as a good counterexample for the "stringing up the CL in the EG" crowd. ;)
