question for the experienced mages here.
One of my buffer, a cleric, just got yesterday lv 25 and learned Holy Weapon.
- What kind of damage adder gives this spell to a melee?
- Is a kind of damage that only affect "magic" mobs? Or undead only? Or it is for any type of monster?
- Melee only (swords, blunts, polearm) or does it affect also ranged (archers)?
- Basically, is it worth to keep it casted on the melee?
It's pretty simple. The buff itself does not add any damage, it just causes all your attacks to be considered "holy" (or "sacred", as the game calls it). Does not work for nukes (even though there are nukes, e.g. solar flare, which have this ability built-in).
If you now attack a mob, one of three things happens:
1. It is a mob with weakness to sacred attacks: you do extra damage, like 10-20%, depends on the exact mob
2. It is a mob with resistance to sacred attacks (or a player with holy resistance buff): you do LESS damage than you would without the buff, sometimes very noticeable
3. It is a mob with neither weakness nor resistance to sacred attacks: nothing at all happens.
2. It is a mob with resistance to sacred attacks (or a player with holy resistance buff): you do LESS damage than you would without the buff, sometimes very noticeable
Hence the reason to change it to a "party members only" buff just like zerk I assume? To avoid using it as a quasi-debuff?
The actual reason was probably also the fact that giving HW in conjunction with Resist Holy, which can not be surrendered off easily, would have become a very viable PvP tactic. :p
