It just occured to me, while I was playing, that any amount of Adena I found on the ground was probably another player's, either dead, or he just couldn't bother picking it up right away.
I'm still relatively new to the game, so I'm just wondering if that's some kind of habit, to let your Adena sit there to pick them up later on? Is it expected from other people who run by to leave it where it is?

archers/nukers that wanna level fast sometimes dont pick up their loot, they do that after they are done grinding.
If you se someone in the area (check twice to be sure) you are free to pick up the loot.
Even tho there is someone around, I would say you can ask if you can pick it up. many people dont pick up their loot. I never pick up loot pre lvl 40. (unless I play a melee char)
If I enter an area that is covered with adena, other players or no I spam pick up. They are welcome to kill me, I don't care :) Pre 40 that is, higher levels you run into more politics about loot.
Gotcha. Well, I guess I stole a bunch of people's loot already. I'll ask next time, even though that will surely get me the n00b title, but hey, that's what I am after all.
well, like ellibelly said, you can pick it up as well (I usualy do it as well) but dident wanna "teach" a new player to steal loot :)
my rule is, if they dont pick it up, its finders keepers :)
Nah, it's all good! I was just wondering whether it was some kind of unspoken rule or law or something. If I see someone around I'll just ask, out of... courtesy.
If you see loot on the ground, take it. I got a +6Homu from a SH that got mad at me for picking up her loot. If someone is too lazy to pick up their loot, it deserves to be taken.
Technically if you can pick it up, it doesn't belong to anyone.
Whats the difference, either u pick it up or the server crashes, at least one of the way you profit! :)
Unless they laggin' and you have a chance to pick it up, piss' em off then he tries to pk you and when he does you get your main(or come again with that character) and kill him and get drops. Thats a decenter profit... Not likely though! ;)

I love the FOTD fields. every single time I get there, I se at least one field full with loot/mats/recs and no people around >.<
I picked up a full field once there (usualy I get boored and stop) but i stoped after my buffs faded..lol..20 min.. had time to get a majestic rec and 1,5m+ adena :)
one thing though. I have done a little poling from time to time, and when your in the middle of dealing with all the mobs from one room, sometimes people run up and begin to loot the drops while your still fighting the rest of the mobs 8/

Sad fact of fields of adena are botting gone wrong, just take it imo. If ppl cba to pick it up there loss ure gain :)
A couple of things I need to point out here, and here we go:
1) I don't think you know a thing about what you just said there.
2) What in the world is "CBA"?
3) All made up Facts and Statistics are WRONG, and are purely fictional.
4) While I never even tryed to 'automate' my characters in game, I know for a fact from someone who was banned, that when people do automate, the pick up of items is also, uhm what's the word, oh yeah, automatic. Which is one of the ways you can tell if someone is automating or not.
Yes, I still level the old fashion way, no automation, not even 2 boxing. You do have some good hypotheses though, keep trying my man, and maybe someday they might evolve into a theory.
I always look to see if there is a player about killing. If so I will leave the loot. If not, Bonus!
As for KSers; I was on my alt last night as a matter of fact, in Cruma Swamp and a fellow came up as I was a little over half way through my mob and started whacking it (the mob, that is).
Ok, I figured maybe this dude double-clicked the mob from across the field and his momma called him to take out the trash and he didn't realize I was beating it down.
So I'm fighting another bug when this fellar comes up and does it again. So in my polite way I asked "Dude, why the KSing??" Becauise I'm a nice guy, ya know.
Surely he's gotten the point even though he does not reply.
2 mobs later he's at it again. This time I warn him "KS me again and there will be no mobs left for you." Again no response.
See there are plenty of mobs to go around. No need to be a mobhog, right? So here I am again, killing a mob and this dude pushes my button one last time. I let him know that he asked for it and hop on me main.
Then I proceeded for the next 40 minutes to kill every bug he ran toward before he could get a swing in. I'd let him get halfway there, sometimes almost close enough to swing... then nuke. Eventually he moved over to where the spiders were. Felling bad for the guy I figured I'd toss him a few heals. I must have accidentally been healing the spider, though because he wound up dead and I realized my name was purple.
Whoops.
Ah well, when he finally came back I noticed he was no longer interested in the same mobs as my alt.

Still cant get away from the FACT all gold fields ive personally seen are from BOTS. So yes from my perspective its a FACT. Or do all players auto log, hunt in trains... These are things ive seen with my own eyes. As for not knowing what CBA is says it all :) Now go make a nice hot cup of :)
Those programs have gotten smarter since the days of, let's put down an adena trail and drown them.

I'm pretty sure they don't HAVE to pick up loot, or can only pick up specific loot if they want.
But plenty of live players just don't want to be bothered, I went to another server before and ran into adena and loot as far as the eye could see, I started picking it up and the person killing said want money? just follow me and pick up.
What I love is finding a train in EV that isn't picking up spellbooks. Many of them may not be worth much but 2k a pop just for picking them up is a nice bonus. That's just selling them to the NPC store. As far as adena fields, if I don't see anyone actively working the area I grab everything. If I see someone I still at least think about grabbing everything.

Not sure what bizarro-server you're on. I've never seen a bot train that left adena; they do often leave arrows on the ground because picking those up can make them overweight, but I've never seen them leave anything else, as long as it was a drop from a monster they killed.

It's the running to the loot that drops the XP speed on the nukers/archers, so typically they'd pick up at the end (or in the case of academy characters, not at all).

You prolly right, i dont pretend to know everything about botting. Just from my experiance most of the stuff ive had is from were they are. Seems weird ppl just leave 1m+ adena on floor and 500k worth of mats...as for server read my siggy :) As for arrows yes i can understand that, and have seen many places with 1000's on floor :)
I made my first in-game friend by picking up stray loot. Didn't know the owner was still around, and he caught me. I made a joke about being a poor newbie orc. He laughed, and invited me to party. Ran into him again a few days later, picking up more random loot. He laughed some more, invited me to party and friendlist. Too bad he doesn't play anymore, he was a cool guy.
First off do not steal mobs or drops from other people's rooms unless you want to be pk'd or ar looking for a fight. However I have ran into people that just are power leveling toons that dont care to pick their stuff up. The best thing to do is just simply watch the player for a min. or so then if they do not say anything to you simply pm them asking if their free drops. Most people are very friendly and dont mind sharing. Some may even just ask you to loot as I do for my brother sometimes. We just party and I pick up all the stuff. Ofcorse if we get any good drops (wepons, armor, ect.) they go to him but I get a fair share of adena and exp from just helping him out. Aslong as your nice people will be nice back. ^^ <3's to all.
This question has come up before--predictably there are always some "if you steal MY adena and drops I'll kill you" answering posts.
I view this another way--one very good reason for me to WANT to kill you would be to take a few hundred k of adena away from you. If you leave it laying in a pile that's like posting a target on your back.
Particularly with recent changes, if it's in your inventory it's yours. If it's on the ground it belongs to whoever can take it.
This post always makes me laugh! Randomly pking 20 newbs on Talking Island is virtuous and good......picking up a couple thousand adena some fruitcake left on the ground is a sin of some kind........riiiiiiiiigggghhhht.
